 The kennel was boring today. More so than any day that week. The prissy purebreds complaining about this and that, threatening to send poor Kaev over the edge. So he had escaped again. Same as last time, nudging the gate that certain way certainly had the desired effect, and now he was out. Wandering. Alone.
He didn't feel drawn to the city this time, preferring to stay around the suburbs of Waya. But his mild dislike of the place was certainly winning out. It was too quiet for the excitement-craving collie but there seemed to be no dogs out today. Maybe it was the threat of rain, the fine mist that had settled in the air, the rolling gray clouds above that threatened to open.
With a sigh, he turned to head back to the kennel. Maybe the dogs there had gotten tired about talking about only themselves. But he doubted it. Really doubted it. He decided to take the long way home, a gradually twist of streets and grassy park. No one would be missing him yet. Not for a while.

 Fender relished in this weather being from a place in the world where this was the norm for this time of year to happen everyday. Since her owner was off to college the British punk loving dachshund had no troubles sneaking out of the bottom story apartment they lived in.
Why on the Gaia's green globe did Phillip decide it was a good idea to come to this side of the globe? No matter, Fender was going to enjoy every second of this weather and outrun a dog catcher or two if she had her way. It was always good exercise and a total rush to fight the human.
Turning a corner she caught the glimpse of a green and brown fluffy tail. Possibly she could be starting a new gang? Running from the dog catchers was always more fun when there was more to confuse them with. Only once had she ever been caught and that was by her arch nemesis.
With a loud bark out, she attempted to get the attention of the animal connected to the bushy tail. "Hey!"

A silvery fleck of rain landed smartly on his nose. It didn't look like the rain was coming just yet, sending little more than a warning down to those below. Kaev winced. He couldn't afford to be wet when he got back to the kennel. The twolegs would know, and all future escapes would be put on hold. With that, he stretched his legs out just a little longer to hurry his pace. Until, of course, he heard a bark behind him, followed by a smaller voice. "Hey!" He stopped abruptly, turning to face whoever had called out to him. Walking back just a little ways, around the corner, he saw a jewlery adorned dachshund facing him.
He cast a haggard glance over he shoulder, but shook his head. The kennel could wait. He doubted anyone knew he was gone, and even if they knew, he wouldn't exactly be missed. After all, he had come out here for a little excitment. And it seemed to be staring him in the face. Acknowledging, he gave a slight dip of his head. "Something you need?" An easy-going grin grew on his face, a slight wag of his bushy tail. Yeah. The kennel could definitely wait.
