AIM Log -- Safaia & Felyn Chapua & Angamizi The late morning light had danced across the savannah grasses, lightening up the cheetah's deep red eyes. It had been a long time coming, with still more time to pass, but Chapua had finally begun to heal from her wounds. Walking was easy now, even if she would tired a little quickly. Running was something that still eluded her, but she was sure that she would run fast again one day, just like her name sake. It was quiet this morning, as Angamizi had taken advantage of the lovely morning to go hunting. Chapua was still embarassed by her lack of assistance in the meals, but she had done her best to keep herself cheerful and optomistic as a thank you to Ang. Rustling the grasses with her tail, she let herself play with the memories of her recovery. Anything before that time when Ang found here was blank, with pices of her memories before that growing stronger every day. She didn't let herself worry about it too much. She was alive and healthy today, growing stronger with the help of Ang, and she was ready to see where life would take her next. At least, she'd be ready once Ang got back. It got a little boring lying here by herself, but she knew better than to dare wander off. Instead, she laid where she was, waiting patiently. He was very proud of her, to say the least. She had recovered exceedingly well, much better than he ever thought she would have, and had gone through the entire process with the utmost dignity. He didn't mind, even now, spending time waiting on her when she needed it, although there were very few things that she couldn't do on her own anymore. Honestly, it made him feel extremely proud to know that he had helped her along so far, and some of the guilt that was eating at him inside was ebbing away - at least for now. He had left earlier to go out and hunt, a meal for both of them now that it wasn't so impervious that she eat quickly. It meant he could take his time hunting down something large, enough to feed the both of them. This particular moment saw him dragging back an older, meaty antelope by the neck, tail lashing as he pulled it along. It hadn't been too hard, all things considered, for it was indeed an older female - she didn't have the agility to run away, but had put on enough meat for a good meal between them. As the female that had been his constant companion finally came into sight, he put on as much of a smile as he could around the meat, and drew it the last little ways towards her before dropping it down. Taking a deep breath, his smile widened before he licked away the bit of of blood around his maw. "Morning, Chapua," came the calm voice as he plopped down, tail flickering. A cheerful smile appeard on her own face as she noticed that it was Ang dragging back quite a meal. She jumped up to her paws, ignoring a bit of stiffness that had developed since she had laid for so long. Her ears swiveled forward as she heard the thump of the carcass onto the ground, hearing his voice soon after that. "Good morning!" she exclaimed cheerfully. It was good to not be alone again, as well as have a good meal to eat. "I see you've caught quite the meal today." She wasn't sure if they were going to eat it all, but it would certainly fill up the both of them until they were stuffed, that was certain. She paused for a moment longer, not wanting to seem too hungry or too eager to eat. Indeed, she was more excited that he was back than a meal, but the dark cheetah couldn't deny that her stomache was a bit empty. She lowered her ehad as she stepped forward to nose at it, looking for that just right spot to start. It was a habit of hers that she had had since she was a cub, and it always made eating more enjoyable. She found a good enough spot to start, and took her first bite. Chewing quickly, she swallowed it as she settled herself down on the ground to an easier level to eat. She peered over at Ang, making sure that he was eating too. oon, she'd be able to hunt and they could take turns. Definately one of Chapua's short-term goals. For now, a hungry belly was the priority. "Well, I wanted to make sure that we had enough to eat between the two of us," he realized that while she didn't eat as much, even now that she was recovered mostly, he was still a full grown male cheetah and he was apt to eat quite a bit - especially when compared to her. He watched her as she moved forward, nosing the carcass in that same manner she did every single time. He had assumed by now that it was a habit of hers, though it was a little quirk that he didn't mind in the slightest. It was good to see that she had reverted back to doing something normal, something that he was sure was part of her before the.. 'accident' happened. He had enjoyed spending time with her, that was easily said. It was nice to finally have a companion after so long. It gave him a sense of duty, taking care of her, though he knew that soon enough she would be more than capable of taking care of herself. He wasn't sure yet if it was safe, really, to stay with her any longer than it took for her to recover, though it was something he had been thinking about. Staying usually led to developing feelings, and he'd broken too many hearts so far.. As she glanced up at him, almost expectantly, he nodded his head and leaned to find a tender section. Ripping away at the flesh, he found the meat beneath, tearing away a section and downing it contentedly. "You want to take a walk after this?" he said between bites, eyes rolling over to her. He knew that she needed to walk, in order to work the muscles in her legs, if she was ever going to get back to using them properly.Chapua couldn't help but giggle at him, stifling it quickly with another bite of her own. She didn't quite know why she laughed, but it had just seemed to escape her. She let her attention turn directly to the meal, letting a long pause grow between them as she thought about his offer over her meal. It did sound like a good idea, a way to stretch out her legs while still being close by to Ang. Feeling much more content, she raised her head up, licking the bits of blood and meat that had developed around her jaws. Using this as a good excuse to hold back the talking, she looked over at him again, quickly gathering up her thoughts on the matter. "A walk would be good. Probably more just for my stamina than anything." Her tail flopped behind her, still. "Hopefully it'll get better so I can run again." She missed that, and the thrill of hunting. Taking a couple more bites to finish off her hunger and top off her stomache, she took the time to groom herself while waiting for Ang. She assumed that they would just pick a direction and go, unless Ang said differently. An aimless walk might be nice, never knew what would happen or what could be said. She was looking forward to this. A bright smile appeared on her face as she finished up, a little excited now that she was thinking about the walk.

He was perfectly fine letting her bode over the offer in light of eating. As considerate as he was of her, he was still male, and that meant that food always appealed to him greatly. He settled himself down comfortably into a laying possition, bracing his paws against the carcass to help tear away the meat easier for himself. As she spoke, he turned his eyes up to look at her, licking his maw and pausing his current devouring of his meal. He could tell, by now, that she was done eating, though he was hungry still. "I'm sure you'll be running again before you know it," he said with an encouraging smile, nodding at her before letting his attention fall back upon the antelope before him. It wasn't that he wasn't interested, it was just that, well, he was hungry. As he finished eating what he wanted, he pushed himself to a sitting position and licked the juices from his maw. He cast one glance down at the carcass, mangled between the two of them, though still a little meat left. There would probably be scavengers if it was left too long, so he would need to drag it away later. He brought up a paw to lick away the blood that had gotten on it before sighing contentedly and pushing himself to his feet. He really had no idea where to go, more or less having decided to let her choose. "Lead the way, then," he said with a smile and a nod - after all, this was about her.
"M-me?" She hadn't been paying much attention to him and his eating, and hadn't realized that he was done. Being startled, she quickly gathered herself up and got onto her paws, getting herself ready for this walk of their's. She just hadn't realized that she was going to be leading this little excursion. "Well...perhaps we should go...this way?" She was unsure, gingerly placing a paw down before taking a few more steps. She looked over her shoulder to peer at Ang to see if he was following. Assuming as much, she let a shy smile glow on her face as she led the way. She could feel her stiff limbs, hoping that they would loosen up after walking a bit. Exercise was a good thing, and she knew that she needed to do it more if she wanted to be completely better in the end. Besides, this would be a good excuse to do more than just lay around and get better. She was showing that she actually was better. "Well, thank you for the meal, Ang," she said quietly. She wasn't sure how to start the conversation, but she knew that once it started it would be easier to get it going. "Quite a good catch, I'd say," she giggled. She let her paws fall quietly on the ground, testing her joints a bit before putting a little bit of a skip in to her step.
"Yes, you," he said encouragingly as he turned to look back at her, laughing softly under his breath at her startled look. He stepped lightly behind her as she looked around and readied herself, waiting patiently for her to make a decision. "That way looks fine," he said with a small nod, his tail flickering behind him in a snake-like manner. This was the first time she was going to get to see much of the world outside of where they were sleeping, and he wanted her to choose what part of it they saw. He smiled back at her as she turned to look and make sure he was following, nodding his head for her to go on. He could see her stiffness, and he chose to fall in at her side, letting her steer him along as she chose the direction, though loping along slowly so that she didn't feel any pressure to speed it up. "You don't have to thank me Chapua," he said with a little laugh, turning his bright pink eyes to look at her, "it's what I'm good for. If I didn't bring you your meals, what would you need me for now?" It was said with humor, a laugh falling past his mug as he looked ahead of them, staring off at the horizon. "Its not that big of a deal, anyway, I really don't mind." He caught the skip from the corner of his eye, smiling lightly, though hoping it didn't tire her out too quickly.
Her white toes soon grew a bit tinted with brown from the dirt. She didn't quite know where they were going, but she hoped that Ang knew. She'd easily get lost out here, and then they wouldn't be able to make it back to the little camp that they had called home for the past time it had taken for her to heal. Assuming that he was doing just that, she kept up her pace, pleased with the slight breeze and bright sun of the day. "Well, you can't only be good for that," she said with a bit of a tease. "If you weren't around, then I'd have no one to talk to!" And Chapua did love a good conversation. It could be about absolutely nothing important, but as long as it was fun, she was all for it. "And I think I'd go crazy if I didn't have anyone to talk to!" She bounced forward for a moment, trying to see just how her legs would take to the sudden force. She didn't quite judge her weight correctly, and soon wobbled. Before she could even yell out, she had toppled over to land nearly face-first into the grass and dirt, getting her clean coat covered in dry grass and dirt. "Ugh, crap." She shook her head as she peered upwards, feeling quite embarassed. She couldn't help but laugh at herself and her clumsy jump, though. Important, because it would show that she didn't injure herself. "Obviously I lost more than just my endurance!"
He wouldn't let them go any farther than what he knew, that was to be said. He was familiar with the land around their current camp, and if they started to head towards an area that he knew he was unfamiliar with, he would simply ask her to turn around. As it was, he was fairly sure that she didn't have the energy to go that far, at least not the first time he took her out for a walk like this. He laughed at her words, picking up his pace as she did hers, strolling along at her side comfortably. "Well, I'm glad that I can keep you company and I'm good for more than just bringing you food." It was a nice thing to hear, to know that she not only needed him around, but wanted him. Although, that would make it harder for him in the long run if he did decide to terminate their little.. partnership. He really couldn't go through another bad run, another heartbreak, more.. His train of thought was shut off immediately as he saw her bouncing forward, his bright eyes catching the wobbling of her limbs. As soon as he saw her falling, he bolted forward, just in time to stoop beside her as she crashed into the dirt. His mouth gaped open, brows furrowed in pure worry as he tried to form a coherent sentence. As she let out that laugh, he followed it with a deep, relieved sigh. "I'm glad you're alright, you scared me," he muttered, leaning down to nose her neck in an attempt to make her sit up and double-check that she hadn't hurt herself.

"Heeey! That tickles!" Chapua rolled around in laughter for a moment after Ang had come over to check on her. She knew that she was all right, but that didn't mean that she didn't startle him. She didn't expect to fall over like that! She let her limbs hang as she caught her breathe, her back still on the ground. "Sorry. I didn't realize that I can't even walk straight now!" She rolled over onto her stomache, pushing herself back upwards with only a slight wobble. "I guess I'm not as graceful as I used to be." She'd have to remember that fact, since bouncing around like a cub used to be something she enjoyed. She'd have to find something else to amuse her. "So, since I think we can get to know each other a little better..." she said with a smile, giving her body a bit of a shake to clean herself off. "Maybe we can chat a bit on this walk?" As long as she didn't run out of breathe, anyway. She wasn't quite sure where to start, but felt that she needed to since she was the one that initiated the idea. "Umm....so I'm guessing you're alone? Since....you've been watching over me for quite a while." It always did make her curious, but she never knew just how to ask.
It was hard for him to clear the frown off of his face immediately, concern still clearly written in his eyes despite the fact that she was obviously acting as if she were perfectly alright. He spent a few moments examining her where she sat, eyeing her and poking a paw at this place or that (though he was careful to avoid all the tender places that were still healing). Once he was finally satisfied with what he saw, he simply nodded his head and took a few steps back. "Alright, I guess it looks like you didn't really hurt anything," he mumbled, though he still eyed her with a bit of a frown. "And you can walk perfectly fine, it's when you go about bouncing that your feet slip up." He wasn't mad at her, he had simply had the wits scared out of him. The concern he had for her was stuck somewhere between that for a child and that for.. something else. His mind was a strange place to be. "Well, what is it that you want to know?" he'd asked, nodding at her in an attempt to get her to get up again so that they could continue on this walk. Although, after that recent little flop, he wasn't sure how much farther he was going to let her get before he made her turn back around and head for their temporary little 'home'. Her question, when it came, surprised him, however, and he paused for a moment to look away. "Sort of.." he finally answered, soft and low, regret tainting his voice though he refused to meet her gaze or even turn his face back to look at her. "I have some cubs out there, somewhere," he left out the details of just how many, and he knew she'd assume he only had one litter, "but as far as it goes right now, I guess I'm alone, yeah."
She felt a little silly when he had checked up on her thoroughly, but she didn't complain. She would probably be in the same situation if she was the caretaker, and not the injured one. Once he seemed content, though, she let herself offer a warm smile. Walking it would be. She'd be careful to not do too much anymore, at least while she wasn't completely healed. Everything else would have to come slowly. Her ears pricked forward as he began to talk, pleased that she was able to get a little out of him. She realized then that she knew little about him, regardless of how much time they had spent together. Her heart sweeled with a bit of sorrow, as well as mixed feelings. This news was something he hadn't expected to hear. She did, however, expect him to be with someone perhaps. If one such as him doted over her over just an injury, how would he act to someone he truly loved? Catching onto his tone, she let her own head bob gently with understanding. It was only the surface, she could tell, but it was enough to have her understand some of his situation. "Things change," she replied quietly. "And feelings are certainly part of that catergory." It reminded her of her previous mate, and a twinge of bitterness stung at her chest. Some things were hard to get over.
He nodded solemnly at her response, though he knew that she would never even begin to understand how quickly his 'feelings' changed. No one could ever begin to understand what went through his mind. It saddened him to think about all the cubs he had left behind, all the things they would have to suffer through, all the time they would have to spend wondering where their father had gone. He wished he could be there for them, even for one of them, but he couldn't. "Things do change," he said softly, his only reply, before he finally turned his gaze back to her. He had been careful not to bring up the attack to her, for he knew that was what had happened, and he wasn't sure if he would be dredging up bad memories. He supposed he should find out sooner or later, though. "And you, you are.. alone too? I mean, I guess you were, otherwise.. this wouldn't have happened?" he hesitated over the words, trying to say them as kindly and gently as he possibly could.
Well, at least he agreed, even if her attempted empathy didn't seem to win him over. That was all right, she told herself. Things took time, and not everyone was always annoyingly happy as she was. Her tail curled for a moment before flopping back on the ground, trying to figure out just what he meant. She couldn't guess it, and let it drop. "I'm certainly alone," she said bluntly. Realizing just how she said it was quite rude, she lowered her head and peered up at him apoligetically as they walked side by side. "I didn't mean it rudely like that, I'm sorry." A small sigh escaped her lungs, and she slowly lifted her head back up to a more level position to the ground. "I had a mate once, but after....a small tragedy struck us, he deemed me useless and left." She let her eyes avoid him, though her ears was turned to face him, hopefully to pick up anything he might mutter under his breath. "So I decided to leave everything from that life and start new. That's...really all I remember. I can't remember much before or right after my accident." She knew that she had been attacked, but the idea that she had no idea what it was frightened her. It had been bad enough to force her mind to forget it all, so it was probably best to not remember it.

"It's alright," he said, with a weak smile, turning to look at her. He had taken her words for what they were and hadn't really taken any offense to them. This was an awkward conversation at best and what was awkwardness without one of them blurting out something that might be mildly rude? He hoped the smile was enough to reassure her, even if he didn't feel like smiling so much with the thoughts of his past mates and all those cubs freshly dredged up in his mind. He was glad that she had not deliberately forced him to elaborate more on what he meant and thus, he had not forced her to elaborate more on what this 'tragedy' was that had befallen her and her past mate. What it could be he wasn't entirely sure of, but he simply let it slide. "He was a fool," he stated matter-of-factly. He couldn't see how Chapua, with her love of life and pure sweetness, could be useless for anything. His eyes did, however, widen a bit as she said that she couldn't remember anything. He turned to look at her, tilting his head. "So you woke up.. like that?" He couldn't imagine what that must have been like. To wake up battered and broken when your last memory is simply walking away from everything you've known. He frowned, shaking his head with a sigh of realization. "That explains why you looked at me the way you did when I found you." She had been scared out of her mind - she must have thought he was her attacker.
Chapua was mildly greatful that he didn't press the matter of her conflict with her past mate. It was embarassing, especially since she had prided herself on doing everything else so well. Maybe someday she would tell him, but for now she would keep it inside of her heart. If they were still friends in the future, she knew she'd tell him. She was a cheetah who rarely kept secrets, unless asked. She was surprised, flattered, and embarassed from his simple comment. She choked down a giggle to hide her embarassment. It would be awkward to explain just how she thought it was so fun. The bitterness from that experience was still there, but she had been young and reckless, and in a rush to show everyone that she had grown up. Only the facts like that had really forced her to realize that growing up happened when it happened, and there was no use in rushing it along. A good point being her injuries. That had forced her to grow up, and it was obvious that it was time to, as well. There were serious things out in the open, and she had been foolish to think her grand adventures would go along without a catch. "I'm....I'm sorry," she said quietly, chancing a glance at his face. "I really didn't mean to panic, everything was still blurry. I might remember one day, but for now I don't think my mind wants me to remember."
"It's alright," he said softly, shaking his head as he looked over at her. "You certainly had every right to be panicked like that, I mean, I wasn't even sure if you were going to.." He frowned at himself, at his words, and cut off. She had been so weak, so broken, he really hadn't been sure. "It was just natural, Chapua, there's nothing to be sorry for. All that matters now is that you are better and everything is going to be ok." She was going to heal up just fine, he knew it, and life would go back to normal, even if she had a little dark spot left in her memory. He slowly let his pace slacken until he could stop, turning to judge how far they had gone before he looked back up at her. "I think this is far enough, you've still got to walk back and I don't want you to over do it today." He didn't want to risk upsetting her injuries when they were just beginning to give her some ease. He smiled, reasuringly, at her and waited for her to turn around and join him.
"Natural?" Chapua couldn't help but give off a short laugh at his comment. He seemed so kind it was hard for her to think that he had ever come across bad things. She had surely been passed by many before he had bothered to help her. Natural sense and charity seemed quite rare now a days. She could only be thankful over and over again for what he had done. If he hasn't found her, she would have died. And she knew that, too. The tip of her tail danced to and fro to the beat of an unheard tune, her head jerking up as Ang mentioned the length of their walk. "Oh," she said quietly. She hadn't realized how far they had come, but it had made the walk more pleseant. Pleseant enough that there was at least one small crack of the barrier between them. She let a soft smile grace her face as she turned around, following Ang's lead. "I guess we got a little carried away!" She swirled around on her heels, facing the way that they had come from, and trotted just a bit to catch up to his side. "Sometimes I think you worry too much," she chided softly. "But thank you. It shows that you care."
He could only nod at her questioning the word he chose. It was indeed a natural reaction to her situation, even if he had never seen anyone in that situation before. If you were attacked and left for dead, well, you didn't exactly act chipper and trusting of every rogue that passed you by. He wondered, too, how many had actually passed her by as well. Even if none had come within sight of her, some had to have smelled the blood, and none, not a solitary one, had stopped to help. That made his blood boil, enraged him every time he thought about it. Where had all the kindness in this world gone to? Yet, he had left his cubs, hadn't he? What a great hypocrite he was. "Well, we could probably walk a little farther before you actually got tired," he said with a chuckle, forcing down all the terrible thoughts that were surfacing in his mind. It was not the time to wallow in his self pity, no, it was the time to aid Chapua and be here for her. "The idea is to make sure that I only take you out a distance you can make twice, because you have to walk back too." He had enjoyed getting to know her a little better, though, even if it had come with awkward conversation. "You're weclome," he said softly, momentarily dumbfounded as to what he should say as he fell back into step at her side.

Chapua let her pace slow a bit so she wouldn't be quite so next to Ang's. She had mixed feelings on him, ones that she wasn't really sure about. She let them build within her mind as she thought about them, listening to his voice as he spoke. There was a hint of different emotions, ones that she knew why they were there, and others that confused her. Hmmm. Noticing that she had started to slip back a little too far, as he would surely notice, she sped ahead just for a moment, peering over his shoulder to look back at him with a devilish grin. She needed to start taking her own advice and stop worrying so much. There was only so much she could do in the world, but what she could affect, she would make it joyous. "I'm sure you're real idea was so you wouldn't have to carry me back," she teased, feeling a little brave. "Pity I didn't think about it earlier, then it would be a good excuse to." A very good excuse. Ah, there was always next time!
He had, in fact, noticed that she was beginning to fall back, but just as he turned around to look and see what was causing her to do so, she was at his side again. He wondered, for a moment, if perhaps she was more tired than she had let on to begin with. If she was pushing herself harder than she had to just for his sake, he wasn't going to easily forgive himself. Just as he was about to ask her what was wrong, though, she yet again interupted his trail of thoughts and action with her own silly little burst of speech. "Well, can you blame me? Us cheetahs aren't really built to carry things around." He chuckled at her, his tail whipping behind him at the thought of having to carry her again. It surely would have been less awkward than last time and he wouldn't have had to be as careful, but that still didn't mean it would have been easy by any stretch of the imagination. "We're not big and bulky like those beasts of lions and all." He simply chuckled at her, feeling his mood brightening already. It was this sort of conversation that made him truly enjoy her company. "I imagine it's not very fun to ride on my back either, I'm pretty bony."
"Perhaps not," she said quietly, distracted in her thoughts. She had begun to grow a little tired, but it was more of a nagging pain in her leg that bothered her more than feeling winded. She was doing her best to hide it, and so far she was being pretty successful. He didn't need to worry about her so much, though she certainly wasn't going to yell at him to change his ways. She just...felt so horrible when he rushed over to check on her. Like she didn't deserve it. "Plus I'm sure I wouldn't be fun to drag," she said seriously, though obviously mocking the whole idea of her getting that tired. "I'd probably wiggle too much." She laughed for a moment at the thought of it. She'd probably wiggle so much she'd reinjure herself. "So perhaps it's best that I just take it easy like you say. I'm probably no fun when I'm in pain, anyway."
"You're really not so bad," he commented with a shrug, though he turned a teasing grin upon her. "You're a little stubborn, though." His grin split with a chuckle and he let his eyes shift back out to look at the horizon ahead of them. He really wanted the mood between them to lighten back up, go back to normal, so that they could return to their lighter moods. "Besides, soon enough you won't be injured anymore and I won't have to worry about whether you're fun or not," he said with a shrug, his smile still in place.
"Hmph," she pouted, knowing what he had said was true. She was a little stubborn, but she always put her heart in the right spot. That made it at least a little okay, right? "I guess that you're right about that." It was good to admit a little of your faults, and if eh knew it, then there was no use going around it. He'd put up with her worst sides, though, so now he would get to see her best. She continued to walk on in silence, noticing that some areas certainly seemed a little familiar. She was distracted from the conversation a bit, so she didn't take the time to think before she spoke. "Do you think you'll go once I'm all better?" she asked. It took her a few more steps before she realized just what she had asked. Her heart raced, but she did her best to keep her cool, acting like the possible answer wouldn't bother her at all.

His steps faltered a little as that question came to the surface, all previous thoughts of joking and lauging with her fading away slowly. It was something he hadn't really decided yet, though he had been thinking over it for a long time. He knew all the things that could go wrong if he stayed, all the little problems that seemed to arise from his taking company with females. He fell for them easily, and with her sweet nature, he knew it would be no time at all before he had ensnared her in his trap, and then what if it happened again? She had just said that her mate had left her, could he do that to her, make her feel more useless? "I don't know," he admitted honestly, swallowing hard and refusing to look over in her direction. "I mean, it's nice to have someone to travel with, to have company, because I've really missed it, it's just that.." He frowned, pausing, thinking of how he could word this without really letting her know what was going on inside his head. "It's just that I complicate things sometimes." That seemed to be the best way, really.
Chapua had kept up her pace seamlessly, but her mind was racing as fast as if she was running after prey. What was he going to do next? What was he going to say? She tried to predict it, but knew that anything he actually said was still going to surprise her regardless of how she tried to prepare herself. His answer still stung, but it didn't discourage Chapua. She was a little too reckless with her feelings. She was a girl that would never learn from all of her mistakes. As long as they felt right, she would press on against what others might say. "Well, it doesn't mean we can't stick together for a bit longer and see what happens," she replied softly, if sweetly. She had glanced over to him, noticing that he wasn't looking her way. A frown appeared on her face, concerned that perhaps she was being a little too stubborn and optimistic. Her eyes swept to the ground, just high enough so she knew where she was going. "If you would like to, anyway," she added on as an afterthought.
He nodded at her words, wanting to tell her that was exactly what he'd like to do. Sadly, he knew that even if that was what he'd like to do, it didn't necessarily mean it was the right thing to do. He wasn't lying to her when he said he complicated things, he just didn't explain to her exactly how he went about complicating them. He'd never forgive himself if he ended up hurting her after he spent all this time making sure she was nursed back to health. "I'll certainly stay a little longer, if only to see what happens," he said, spurred on by the tone of her voice. He knew that he couldn't leave her for a little while yet, for she was still weak. That aside, he knew it would also hurt her if he left, because he was the only thing she had right now. But when would it become too late to leave, he wondered? He hoped he saw the signs before he got trapped. He turned his head to offer her his best smile, though it was admittedly weak, before he looked back ahead again. They were almost back to camp now.
The cheetah had grown silent, letting her paws guide her moreso than her eyes. She felt hazy, like everything was slipping out from under her. Here she was, an adult, having gone through so many traumatic things, and she was sulking like a cub. She knew that this wouldn't last forever. She was not the kind to continue to injure herself just to keep Ang close to her. She was smarter than that, and she respected him too much to do that. It still made her wish that the day would never happen. "All right," she said quietly, a small smile appearing on her face. "Let's just see what the future holds, then." Her tone was bleak, but she couldn't help but feel that way. She needed a nice nap to sleep away her emotions. She was sure after that, she could let everything happen to chance and luck and see what happened. It wasn't like she was going to force him to stay here, anyway. "Perhaps I'll take a quick snooze once we make it back to our normal site," she added in briskfully, letting herself get carried away into her thoughts again. "I'm sure I'm just a little too tired right now to think straight." She put a little skip into her step, and ecouraged Ang to do the same. They'd probably both feel a little better after spending some time to think alone.
He nodded at her words, repeating them in his own head. Let's just see what the future holds. He knew that he didn't need to stay, that he needed to get out of this before he did either of them damage that couldn't be reversed, but he couldn't just leave her now. His breath hitched a little at her skip, though he tried to hide it. It wasn't as if he was overly protective, it was just tat he was scared she was going to hurt herself again. He schooled his face back to a calm and followed her at a quick pace, forcing a weak smile upon his face. "That sounds good," he said softly, lowly, "that sounds good."
