She technally wasn't suppose to wander away from her mother this far but they had been told they were allowed to explore. She knew she was still within range that if she yelled that her parents could come save her before she got hurt. So she was safe, in a sense.
Besides, Chang was around somewhere. He liked following her and her brothers around. She just didn't want to play with him at the moment. She wanted to do a bit of exploring on her own. See if she could catch some mice or something. She'd never live up to being daddy's perfect little girl of she couldn't hunt like mama after all.
Hunkering down in the grass she waited to see if she could hear anything. That was always a good way to pounce on things. Get where you couldn't be seen and then attack. Something would come along eventually ... or she'd get bored and move somewhere else.

Ugh. Kimbilio still wasn't used to all this...brown stuff. And the heat! How did anyone else deal with it so calmly? He had grown up underneath a barrier of trees, of little grass and lots of playmates. Now that he was on his own, he really had no idea what he was doing anymore. He had grown a few friends, but it still couldn't match the same as missing his mother.
Suddenly homesick, the little cub stumbled on his path, his eyes swept downwards at the ground. A deeol gold colour, they surveyed the ground as he placed each tan step on the ground, one, by one, by....oh!
Giving up, he flopped on the ground where he was, a little 'umph' escaping his throat. He'd walk around more later. For now, he would just sulk a bit. It was cubbish, but he just wanted things to go back the way they were.

She heard a noise a little ways off and crept closer. It sounded bigger than a mouse or something but it was still game right? So long as it wasn't something bigger than her she'd be alright. Papa'd get mad if she messed with something that could hurt her.
As she crept though the grass he spotted wings... a bird! She'd come across a bird! It would be so neat if she could catch it and bring it back. Her parents would be proud. She'd be able to catch better things than her brothers!
Setting herself carefully she eyed her target before pouncing directly at the winged thing...

Kimbi could hear some rustling in the grasses around him, but he didn't bother to look. Half the time it was just some lizard or bird looking for food. This time it probably was, as well.
With a heavy sigh, he knew that he should get up, though. Laying here wasn't going to do anything for him. If he wanted something, he was going to have to do it himself. At least he didn't have to eat or drink unless he wanted to. That was one good thing about himself that he liked. No hunting unless he wanted to, and even then he didn't like hurting thi-
WOAH. He felt a pressure on his back, and the little godling squeaked and mock-growled in objection. What the heck was this all about?!

She she landed on the bird she had a moment to frown before it squeaked. "Hey! You're not a bird..." She was standing on something and she'd never seen a bird she could basically stand on. That was a body, and a head .. and ears. Reaching out she poked whatever it was in the back of the head as she sat on it. No sense in getting up if it was going to hurt her maybe.
"What are you? You have wings but you're not a bird ... least not any bird i've ever seen."

"Heeey!" he protested, "get offa meee!" His legs were flailing around, trying to make the lion that jumped on him get off. His wings were shifting around with him, but he was careful since he didn't want to break them. That would be painful and completely needless for him to do.
"Can you see? I'm a lion just like you!" Ugh, how mean! He wasn't some sorta...freak or anything. "I just have wings, and stuff." He knew he was different, but it was hard to breathe with her on him like that.
Hmph. Fine. He'd take this route and see if it worked. "You're heavy!" He knew that his sisters didn't like being told they were heavy, so let's see if she acted the same way.

"I am not!" She huffed. "I sit on my brothers all the time and they're fine." But she did shift back so she could see him better. He really was a lion, and lion with wings.
"You are not like me, i dont have wings." She giggled slightly as she poked lightly at one of said appendages. "They're neat ... how'd you get them? can you fly?"

He stuck out his lower jaw in irritation, but he stopped thrashing around. At least she moved a bit. Maybe she'd shift completely off of him soon. He had certainly taken after his mother in size, and wasn't anywhere large for his age. Normal was probably the best bet.
"I was born with them," he said with a gruff voice. Or, attempting to sound gruff. It was hard at his age. "An' yes I can fly! They'd be pretty useless if I couldn't use them." The wing that the girl poked at withdrew itself slightly, but there really wasn't anywhere else for it to go before it would hurt Kimbi. "I can fly as high as birds!"

"Really? That's pretty neat. I've never seen a lion with wings before ... mama never mentioned them either." She scrunched her nose a bit as she thought about that. Mama had to know if there were lions with wings so she should have told her!
"I bet your parents had wings too huh? is it easier to hunt with wings? I've seen birds fishing without landing and it looks pretty neat, can you do that?"

Dizzy from all the questions (as it reminded him of his sister always asking for him to find her shiny things), he paused for a moment, slowly pulling each question out from his mind to answer them one at a time. He didn't want to say the wrong thing and get in trouble! He was certainly not in the right position to say no!
"I dunno, I only know my Mother, and she has wings too; all of my sibilings do." He shrugged his shoulders lightly, which was harder than he had imagined with her on him. It was hard to even see her too, since she was on his back. "I don't hunt," he said quietly. "I'm kinda small for that anyway."
He rustled his paws together shyly in front of him. "And...I've never tried that. My feet don't really look like a bird's, do they?"

"No, but i thought it'd be good to know." She grinned and after a moment hopped off his back so she could actually look at him. He did look like her, or at least her brothers, just with wings. Weird.
"You dont hunt? Did your mama not teach you?" She frowned slightly. "I can hunt! ... sorta, i mean i can hunt mice and lizards and birds if i'm fast enough. Never too small to hunt so long as there's something smaller than you. Least until you get grown up then you can hunt anything ... cept maybe an elephant." She nodded sharply.

With a grunt he picked himself up, stretching out his now sore back and stretching his wings a little. That felt much, much better. As he settled himself down on the ground, he could not actually see who his attacker was. Hmph. At least she didn't mean any harm, even if she was kinda stubborn. Kimbi would never escape stubborn girls, it seemed.
"I don't hafta hunt," he said, shaking his head. He never grew hungry, he'd just eat if he felt like it. Like, if he was bored. He understood enough of what the non-winged lions had to do since he was raised with some of them, but the concept was still a little foreign. "Though elephants are kinda big," he said with a giggle.

"Oh .. does your mama do it all for you?" She smiled as she wandered around so she could face him. "Mine does most of it but she said all of us have to learn how so we can take care of ourselves if we have to." Her mama was smart like that.

He shook his head quickly. "No.." How was he going to explain this? Kimbi was not very good at explaining things. So meeting someone that was full of questions was a little exhasperating for him.
"Well, let's see....I guess you could say that I never get hungry, so I don't have to eat." His tail flopped behind him as he cocked his head to the side, hoping that she would understand. He was different, but the same as her in other ways too.
"Like....I look like you, and act like you, but I don't sorta work in the same ways." Did that make sense? Kimbi was even confusing himself.
"Uuggh. I guess to sum it all up I'm a god." If she even knew what those were. Or if she even cared. Maybe he was just the cool new kid to talk about for a while.

"You don't get hungry?" That was a weird concept. Everyone got hungry. You had to eat to survive right? How could you not have to eat? What would your survive on?
She was about to ask him those questions when his last comment filtered though her head. She vaguely remembered stories her mother told her about spirits and gods but she thought they were just stories. ".... really? I thought mama was just telling us bedtime stories. I wonder if that means all the other weird stuff she talked about exists...."
