Introduction
For many of us, our mind is a sacred place; a place to rest peacefully, to mull over the tidings of the world and store our every secret safe from harm. It is our vacation- an ever-present dreamland. But for those few others, the mind is the greatest enemy. It haunts them, causes pain and suffering. Its an inescapable nightmare blurring the lines between reality and hallucination. These unfortunate beings are taken to the asylum- willingly or otherwise.
Once upon a time there was a kind man who’s only wish in this terrible world was for every person afflicted by insanity to find peace once more. He built a lovely little building called the Sacred Dreams Academy for the Mentally Unsound. It was a pleasant asylum where patients could come and get on the road to a healthy, tranquil mind. All was well at Sacred Dreams… That is, until the doctor was found slaughtered in his own bed. A search of the building revealed that one of the patients was missing. The investigation was immediately dropped when it was concluded that the insane patient must have escaped their room, killed the doctor, and then fled the building. It was a sad day, but not one thought over much. If only someone had taken the care to delve a little deeper. They just might have realized that this same circumstance was occurring all around the country.

Our story is the product of a man with his own problems, a genius man who knew there was more to insanity than just being crazy. He saw the potential in the warped reality of those unaccepted by society because their psyche.
This man was known as Doctor Gerard. His curiosity led him to study all the workings of the human mind. But schooling didn’t teach him enough. It wasn’t long after he graduated that he conducted his first experiments…on living patients. His research revealed that people with mental disorders actually had a very powerful mind. Gerard theorized that with more knowledge and access to other patients he could find a way to use these minds and utilize their hidden energies.
When Gerard presented his findings to other scientists and doctors, however, they laughed at him and called him crazy. Enraged, he fled society and hasn’t been heard of since. The world easily forgot him, unknowing to the threat they let slip away.
Ten years after his disappearance, Gerard is ready to conduct his experiments. He had an asylum built half way up a snowy peak, hidden from the piercing eyes of the rest of humanity. After recruiting doctors and guards, he was ready to fill his hospital with troubled minds. He sent his guards to various asylums around the country to collect patients. The patients were to have an array of mental disorders and all had to be between the ages of 16 and 20. Gerard believed that through this stage of life our minds were still open with imagination, but darkness was at its greatest potential.

Once every patient was acquired, Gerard put them all into a sort of temporary coma. They remained in this state for six months while a fleet of doctors led by the madman himself performed experiments on them. Different parts of the body were cut open and altered, but the main focus was on the mind. The end result is a mystery ever to Gerard. But if his theory is anything close to correct, each patient should be waking up to a special “gift” of sorts, a power that varies between minds. Only Gerard knows what the purpose of this gift is, and only he knows how to give it to the world.

Setting
Gerard’s asylum is located on the side of a snowy mountain. It is cold almost all year around. The asylum itself is surrounded by a fence of barbed and electrical wire, and beyond that is a dense wall of trees and underbrush laced with ice and snow. There is a heavily-guarded helicopter pad on the outside of the gates, surrounded by its own fence. No one has seen anyone but the doctor or his close assistant use it.

The Asylum has seven levels, though only five can be seen from the outside. 1) Gerard’s Personal Tower 2) Patient’s Rooms 3) Cafeteria/Game Room 4) Staff Rooms 5) Empty 6) Holding Cells 7) Hospital/Labs No one had access to Gerard’s tower. His room is heavily guarded by men armed with deadly weapons. The patient’s level is just a long hallway with rooms running its length on either side. The bathrooms are at the end of the hall, opposite of the stairwell. The third level is split in half, with one end holding the kitchen and simple eating area, and the other large game room with a bookcase, various sofas and chairs, a TV with no cable, an Xbox with a few games, a stack of board games and chess set, and an area with craft supplies with no pencils in site, among a few other random items meant for entertainment. The stairwell for that level leads into the game room and you must go through it to get to the kitchen. The staff rooms are off limits. No patient is allowed to go below the fourth floor unless supervised. The staff’s rooms look much like the patient’s, only more comfortable. The fifth room is filled with only a hoard of armed guards because it holds the only exit to the building. Everything below it is underground. The holding cells are cold cells meant for a single person. They are surrounded on all side by thick metal walls. The floor is metal as well. There is no light. The door, too, is metal, with a small window set at the top. These cells are designed to make the prisoner uncomfortable, first with cold, then with hunger, fear, and silence. Down the stairs to the last level is the hospitals and labs. No patient is ever awake to wander the halls or see what is inside. They remember only glimpses from their days of being under the knife.

Each patient will wake up in their own cell, which consists of a small bed with metal framework, a similarly small desk, a drawer already filled with dull clothing in the appropriate sizes, and a metal door with a window at eye level. The rooms are completely white- from the tile floors to the smooth walls and the coarse blankets on the bed. There is no bathroom- patients must use the “public” ones located at the end of their hallway, which have a few stalls and another section for showers.

Staff
Name: Cole Gabriel Heart Age: 19 Problem: None Power: None Personality: Cole doesn’t pay much attention to what his father is doing. He just follows orders as half-assed as possible while still getting stuff done. He watches out for himself and no one else, that is, unless protecting someone or something would benefit him somehow. Cole is as stubborn as it gets. History: Cole is Gerard’s son. He doesn’t remember much of his childhood besides a few flashes of memories, but many of them don’t make sense to him. He figures the woman he remembers sometimes in his dreams must be his mother, but when he asks Gerard about it, the doctor only glares at him and tells him to forget about it. Cole doesn’t remember living anywhere but the asylum with his father.
Name: Doctor Gerard Age: 47 Problem: Crazy in General Power: Manipulation Appearance: Gerard has long metallic hair that is pulled back into a ponytail and a matching pair of cold steel-grey eyes. His skin is very pale, almost translucent. It gives of the impression of sickness. He is very tall, standing above six feet high, and has compact muscles. Personality: History: His curiosity led him to study all the workings of the human mind.
Name: Delores Summers Age: 42 Problem: just downright psycho Power: None Personality: Delores is sickeningly sweet, to the point where she could be administering a lethal drug and still be smiling at you. Even in a bloody rage, she would continue with a soft voice. It’s enough to drive you nuts.
History: She was a pediatric nurse but then one day she just snapped and killed her own child. Then the next day while at work, she saw a child that looked like her own, and in her paranoia she thought that it was her own child haunting her. So she killed that child as well. Extra: Delores hates the mention or sight or even the voice of small children.
Name: Dr. Naomi Crane Age: 30 Personality: Naomi has a passion for knowledge and science, and more often than not, will delve deep enough into her work that she neglects other responsibilities. She is very formal, but is also naturally interpersonal. Her honest laugh is rare, but not hard to provoke. Bizarrely, she tends to shy away from correcting others or asserting her opinion straight away, even when she knows it to be wrong. Humble to a fault, only her credentials let on how intelligent she really is. No one has ever witnessed Naomi lose her temper, and she is extremely efficient under fire. History: Crane was very popular when she was younger, and had hoped to become a politician in high-school. After attaining a degree in Biology at a small college in her hometown, she moved on to a more prestigious school to get a Ph.D in bio-engineering with a minor in neurology. Her extremely heavy workload led her to a more hermit-like life, withdrawing from social activities. Her work ethics and high marks landed her company research grants and influence in the scientific community. Small references are made to her family, but it seems to be an uncomfortable subject. Extra: She enjoys sweets, curry, rain, movies with subtitles and looking into microscopes. Always smells of roses...
Name: Lillian Drake [Everyone calls her Lily] Age: 18 Problem: Downright crazy/Manic Depressive Personality: Lily seems to be nice one minute, then something can happy to irritate her and she will snap. She goes on slight rampages if she's angry, where she will throw items, curse, and...well throw a fit. She favors boys, and she will pretty much treat all the girls like crap. History: When she was only five years old, Lily's mother walked into her room to find her playing with her barbies. Only...all of the girl's heads were off the bodys and thrown across the room. Her mother walked out of the room, shaking it off, thinking that every child did this. Later in her life, when she was 16 she got her first job as an assistant nurse at a hospital. She refused to help any of the girls, which the other nurses understood and allowed her to work with the males. One day, one of the other nurses walked in on Lily strangling one of the patients. She ran over to her and pulled her off the boy, but it was too late, he was already dead. She was fired that day, so she got another job at another local hospital. The same thing happened. She was about to be thrown into jail when Gerard offered her a spot at his asylum. Not specifying to the courts that she would be a nurse there not a patient. Extra: Lily has a talent of alluring boys.
Name: Lucas Valentine Age: 21 Problem: He’s actually the only sane one here…funny right? Power : None Appearance : Lucas stands a height of 6’2, with a compact muscle build. (Due to his recent activity in the gym). Across Lucas’s chest is a thin scar running from between his pecs to his right hip bone. Personality: Lucas is quite, and kind. Preferring to just do something than get into a confrontation. He’s a great listener, and loves to help people. But Lucas has been known to be a door mat, and lets people walk all over him. History : Lucas was on a fast track to becoming a doctor when one day, during his sophomore year in college, he was approached by a scientist named Gerard. Gerard pitched a good argument and wanted Lucas to be his assistant in his studies. Eager for such a great job he joined in. The studies went well, but Lucas noticed Gerard was hiding things from him. So, finally Lucas got fed up with his secrecy, and eavesdropped on one of Gerard’s conversations with another colleague and found out about what he was doing with the mental patients. Appalled at such a discovery he left Gerard and his study the next day, catching a plane back to his home town of Seattle. But Gerard followed him, fearing that Lucas would tell someone of the immoral deeds he was doing, so he forced Lucas to come with him and serve as an assistant to Delores. Extra: Lucas is terrified of Gerard, and loathes Delores with every fiber of his being. Also, Lucas graduated high school two years early.
Patients
Name: Adam Chase Age: 19 Problem: Severe Hallucinations Power: Telepathy Personality: Adam is what some would call self-centered and cocky. He is boisterous, filled with wild enthusiasm and energy. It is common for him to get overzealous and rowdy because of this. His playful disposition is only cast away when his hallucinations get the best of him. He becomes almost placid and seeks solitude, quietly slipping away from those around him. History: Adam’s rambunctious nature may be due to the fact that he has five brothers, aged 22, 17, 12, and 5. The five-year olds are twins and while he still lived with his family they were his favorites. Their mother passed away giving birth to them, so the six boys were left to be raised by a single father. This caused some chaos around the house. Adam’s older brother moved out as soon as he got the chance, leaving Adam to be the oldest in the house now, next to his father. He took on the role of babysitter so that his father could keep his job and pay for the children that seemed to eat nonstop. It was only a few years before the twins were born that Adam started getting severe hallucinations, but with all the chaos of the household no one really noticed. After the twins were born and Adam had to care for them every waking minute, his hallucinations seemed to disappear almost completely. But when Adam was 17 and the twins were three, the pack of brothers got the bad news that their father had died of his cancer, which they previously thought was only a mild case. The parentless children were taken away from their home and placed into the care of an adoption center. The oldest brother wanted to take them all in, but the court dictated that he wasn’t fit to care for so many children. But the brother refused to be separated, so they formulated a plan to scare of any potential parents until they could escape the place. That plan might have worked if it wasn’t for Adam’s hallucinations returning. The doctors at the adoption center quickly realized what was wrong with him and sent him to a hospital. After two years of being there with no word from any of his brothers, Adam was stolen away by Gerard.
Name: Seth Asher Age: 20 Problem: Severe Depression Power: Darkness Personality: Dark and brooding, just as you would suspect. He is distant, closed off from the outside world. He isn’t unkind, however, actually being pretty decent when he tries. Seth simply lacks the will to attempt at companionship. He has no faith in humanity and believes that there is hate in everyone, no matter how much they try to hide it. His despondent nature is a repellent to any conversation endeavors. History: Seth was born to kind parents, a modest home, and had a pretty normal childhood. He had problems, but who didn’t? For the most part, everything in his life was going relatively smoothly. Even when he was 12 and his dad started drinking things were not so bad. Seth had always known his father suffered from depression just as he did, so the drinking came as no surprise. His mother didn’t approve, but Seth knew it was just an escape and she could never understand. For two years his father’s condition rabidly declined, until one day he just ran off, but not before severely beating Seth’s mother. After that she never looked at Seth, being unbearably reminded of her husband. Fearing that he really was the shadow of his father, Seth turned himself into the asylum. He remained there for four years before being upgraded to an asylum for adults. He was there for two years until Gerard came for him.

Name: Dawn Evens Age: 18 Problem: Oneirophrenia Power: Nightmares Personality: Dawn is kind at heart and nurturing, but her mental illness had made her too tired and sluggish at times to really care about anything at all. She becomes impatient and her temper is short. She is sarcastic but shy when she feels overwhelmed by people. History: Dawn grew up in a motley crew of individuals. She never knew her real parents- who died just after she was born- and therefore didn’t morn their loss. The bouncing, happy baby was quickly adopted by loving parents who were a little obsessed with children. Dawn was the sixth child to be adopted into the family, and two more were adopted after. There were four girls, including herself, and four boys. They were all very happy together and treated each other as if they were related by blood. All was well and happy until Dawn was seven, and then the sleeplessness started. She still managed to be relatively normal for a few more years after that, but when she was eleven her parents decided they couldn’t let her suffer anymore. They sent their poor little daughter to an asylum for children. The whole family made sure to take her out every once in a while, but when her condition got worse they could only visit her, and that was limited to weekends. Dawn was getting prepared to go to an adult asylum when Gerard’s men took her.
Name: Alice Danvers Age: 17 Problem: Brief psychotic episode disorder Power: Advanced Telekinesis Personality: Alice is oddly optimistic, and has a record of making people around her feel better. That is…when she isn’t having a psychotic “moment”. She is kind, and often thinks of others first. But in the past Alice has had problems with authoritarian figures. Being told what to do and how to do it, never seemed to go over well with her. History: Alice was raised by her Aunt after her father left when she was 4 and her mother killed herself when she was six. She and little sister Kayla moved in with their widowed Aunt Lilly. Lilly was 26 but hardly acted like an adult. She often left the girls alone for several hours when they were only 8; staying out late at night partying. When Alice was 16 and Kayla 13 she killed herself just as Alice walked into her room. Due to the trauma of the incident Alice developed a metal disorder. Then a year later her aunt Lilly, anxious to get rid of her, shipped her away to an asylum. Extra: Alice’s “episodes” usually consist of rapid mood changes, violence, hallucinations, and panic attacks. Then following the episodes are usually bouts of depression.
Name: Allison (Alli) Miller Age: 17, nearly 18 Problem: Has delusions of drowning Power: Hydrokinesis (can control water) Appearance:Allison is nearly five foot five with dark brown hair. Her piercing blue eyes could cut through you like a knife when she's angry. When she starts to have an episode, her eyes become distant, cloudy, and fearful. Personality: Allison is a happy teenager who gets along with nearly everybody. She can relate to people and is very empathetic. Her smile could make even the harshest individual smile back in return. She's one of the least selfish people you will ever meet. However, she has a short temper, which tends to be her downfall at times. Whoever manages to anger her badly enough will regret it. History: Allison's mother died directly after giving birth, leaving her alone with a father who was obviously not ready for the responsibility. When she was two years old, he brought her to the beach and didn't pay much attention to her. Next thing he knew she was being carried out of the water by a life-guard and being resuscitated. That's when her delusions and fear of the ocean started. Alli's father wasn't yet aware of the problem until he put a movie for her to watch, Free Willy. As soon as she saw the ocean, and the crashing waves, she began gasping for air and struggling. He immediately rushed her to the hospital and they of course couldn't find anything wrong with her. He did everything he could to keep her away from the ocean, but seeing as they lived close to the beach it became impossible. When she was fourteen, her father got sick of her delusions and decided he couldn't handle her anymore and placed her into a mental hospital. She only ever had one episode in the three years she was there, and that was when one of the staff members accidently put on a show for the kids that had the ocean in it. The staff was preparing for her transfer to an adult asylum when Gerard's men took her. Extra: Allison can still remember the day at the beach and she's always secretly hated her father for allowing it to happen to her. The delusions only occur with the ocean, all other body's of water don't affect her.
Name: Lorsin Fallen (Sin) Age: 20 Problem: Severe pyromania Power: Pyrokinesis Personality: Sin is sarcastic, and always seems to have something witty to say, but his smart mouth tends to get him into trouble. He has a strong sense of loyalty towards friends, yet in the same sense he has a tendency to hold grudges. Sin can be utterly stubborn and short tempered. But he isn’t mean, just headstrong. History: Sin’s parents weren’t much of parents. His father worked all the time and was hardly home, and when he was home, he ignored Sin. And his mother was always too busy with “Tupperware” parties, and trying to be the new Martha Stewart to pay much attention to him. So, Sin turned to the streets where he took out his anger in the form of a gang called Pyra. A group of fire-fanatics that would burn symbols into people’s yards. Sin discovered he liked fire, a lot. The antics of the group grew wilder, until the started setting abandoned buildings on fire. Sin got caught by the police, and instead of being sent to jail, he was sent to an asylum, where he stayed from age 16 to 19. Then on his birthday he was transferred to another asylum. Extra: Sin has a small obsession with cookies.
Name: Nyneve Lockhart Age: 17 Problem: Severe Hallucinations Power: Empathy Personality: Nyneve is a very quiet person. She is the epitome of a young lady. But don’t be fooled, she has her moments just like everyone else. History: Nyneve lived a very wealthy life. Her father owned a line of vineyards, and her mother ran her own fashion line. When Nyneve was born, the Lockhart’s couldn’t have been happier. They were the perfect family. They had a beautiful daughter, a beautiful mansion, and all they could ask for. That is until the day Nyneve got sick. She was four years old when it happened. She began seeing things that weren’t there. It got so bad, to the point where her parents refused to take her out. Her father was very fond of his little beauty Nyneve; her illness did not change how he felt about her. The same could not be said for her mother. She ignored Nyneve, and locked her in her room for many years. She told everyone that her daughter had died, and pretended that she did. Her father, however, would come to visit her every day. He would apologize constantly for her mother’s doing, but explained that it was best. This routine went on for the next three years. Her father became her only friend. He spent hours teaching her how to read and write, and would play hide and go seek with her. But one day to her dismay he did not show. A few days of solitude were followed by a knock on the door. The door did not open, but a letter was slipped under it. She opened it and it read: Nyneve, I am sorry to inform you that your father has recently died due to a heart attack. I will be sending all his books and trinkets up to your room within the up coming week. This is best for the both of us. This way I won’t have to remember him and you can. Mrs. Lockhart She spent the next six years of her life studying her father’s books in solitude, and coping with her hallucinations. When she was 14, her mother died. No one knew Nyneve was still alive, so finding her locked away was a big surprise. The people who found her soon realized that she suffered from hallucinations, and sent her to St. Jude’s mental facility. There she remained… that is until now.
Name: Freja Kantor Age: Just turned 18, but looks younger because of her size. Problem: Delusions (possibly bipolar) Power: Future Sight Appearance: A petite blonde with unfocused eyes. Personality: Freja is quite and rarely smiles. She's given up on love and friendship, because her blindness already distances her from everyone. She doesn't know if she's pretty and puts herself down in the presence of girls her age. She talks to herself as if she's speaking to her mother. She talks about her need for lithium in some situations, although she doesn't know what it is except that her mother used it. History: For as long as she can remember, Freja's known three things. Her mother is severely bipolar, she'll never see as long as she lives, and she'll never find others that love her. Her father was in the army and left Freja alone with her mental mother. Her mother's moods would range from loving to extremely violent, calling Freja a devil. Her mother was eventually omitted into an asylum where, unknown to Freja, she died of lithium overdose. Freja's father was distraught and became disturbed when Freja said she saw visions of her mother in pain. At fourteen she was sent into an asylum, where she would be taken from years later... Extra: She doesn't know the names of colors. So, when describing them to other people, she says dark or light.

“Wake up, Cole.” Cole groaned and peeled his eyes open. The alarm clock at his side seared a burning red 5 into his vision. He groaned again, sounding like an upset beast, and threw the heavy crimson blanket back over his head. His fingers curled into the pillowcase as he hauled that over his head as well, desperate for a few more minutes of sleep. “Now, Cole!” the dark voice continued, sounding impatient. “It’s time to wake up the freaks.” He shot up and out of the safety of the blanket. The action made him dizzy, but he ignored the sensation of blood spilling down his veins and threw his legs over the bed. The air and floor were icy cool, so Cole hurried over to the drawer and slipped a pair of socks on. “I’m serious. If you are not up in three-“ “Keep your panties on, James, I’m just getting dressed!” Cole smiled at the grumbled curses being issued at him from the other end of the door as he sifted through the different stacks of clothes around his room. A pair of jeans and a dark shirt finally satisfied him and he pulled them on, despite their having been worn at least twice already. He slipped his still-cold feet into some shoes and strode over to the door, throwing it open with a cheerful grin. “What a pretty face to wake up to,” Cole said happily, throwing a hand around the other man’s shoulders. James shrugged him off and started down the hall. “We have to make this quick. The doctor wants the patients up and ready by six. The little buggers are going to be served their first solid breakfast in a long time.” Cole’s smile slipped away as he hurried to James’s side. His lips clamped down into a firm line. Being unsure of what his father had planned for the mental cases made him uncomfortable. He knew that whatever was going on was in no way legal or safe, but that was about all at the moment. Two flights of stairs later they had reached the patient’s floor. It was a long, dead hallway with white lights hanging from the ceiling like will-o-the-wisps. The only thing that broke the stretch of white was the dark windows dotted at the top of each door. Cold, sterile air was being pumped in by vents in the ceiling. The chilling scene made Cole shiver. “Well hellloooooooooo boys!” Cole cringed at the voice dipped in sugar and venom. He pivoted in place to see a plump old woman dressed in nurse clothing coming in their direction. She was pushing a silver cart in front of her, that sick smile still plastered on her face despite the screeching protest of the old wheels. Images of the crazed, ever-cheerful woman beating him bloody when he was younger flashed behind his eyes. Cole’s hands clenched into fists, his nails digging into the flesh as he tried to dispel the vile in his throat and the rage in his veins that the woman brought to him. He quickly looked away from her face and to the cart’s gleaming cargo. He wasn’t surprised to see a long row of needles nestled on top of a white towel. He plucked one up gingerly and examined the clear contents. “What is it?” he mumbled. “Oh, just a little something to wake up the sleeping darlings,” the nurse, Delores, said with a little smile. Cole suddenly found himself doubting the legality of the medicines in the facility as well. “So this is what we are givin’ the freaks, then?” James asked, picking up a needle for himself and twirling it around in his fingers. Delores nodded vigorously. “Just pop it into the vein and they will be awake in a few minutes. Make it quick, though!” She smiled that terrible smile and ushered them on. Cole turned away and into the nearest room. He closed the door quickly behind him to get away from Delores for as long as possible. He stared out the tiny window to make sure he wasn’t being followed before sighing in relief and twisting around. His eyes widened in surprise at the site of a girl only a few years younger than him sleeping soundly in the simple bed. He would have thought her dead if not for the sluggish rise and fall of her chest. Slowly-not wanting to make a sound even though he knew she wouldn’t wake up even if there was a band in the room- he approached her side and bent over her. The girl’s dark hair was a startling contrast to her pale skin. It fell across her forehead and nose, obscuring his vision of her face. Cole reached out and pushed the hair away to get a better look. The girl didn’t look at all crazy, he realized. She was so startlingly pretty that he had to take a step back and blink a few times to collect his thoughts. This girl did not look like she belonged in an asylum. Cole stared at her a moment longer before putting the needle to her arm and injecting whatever the hell it contained. He quickly turned away and got out of the room. It was best to just hurry up and get everything done. Thinking too much or asking questions could get you killed here. And yet, Cole couldn’t help but wonder….what the hell was his father doing here?

Alice had been lost in another one of her nightmares. The dark memories of her sister’s death contorted in her own mind. Her standing the door way while little Kayla impaled her own chest with a knife from the kitchen. “No!” Alice cried out in her dream. Running towards her sister’s fallen body, but getting nowhere. Like she was running on a tread mill. Suddenly, a sharp pinch interrupted her dream causing the scene around her to dissolve like sugar in tea. She awoke with a start, her eyes fluttering open to reveal an unfamiliar white room. Alice was lying on a stiff mattress with scratchy sheets and a lumpy pillow. Her eyes scanned the room, finding the lack of color chilling. She tried to sit up, finding her body as stiff as her mattress. Everything hurt. “Ouch…” She muttered into the darkness. There was a flicker of light, than the room was laminated in a fluorescent glow. Blinking as her eyes adjusted, Alice once again tried to lift herself up. This time she managed to sit up on her elbows. She could see properly now. Her bare arms were spotted with slight bruises and puncture holes. As if she had been on an IV. This wasn’t really new. She was used to being strapped down and injected when she had severe bouts. Did she have an episode when she arrived at the new asylum? She hoped not. Making a bad first impression wasn’t in her favor. As more of her body became loosened and responsive she was able to sit up completely, with her legs hanging over the edge of the bed. Alice yawned and inspected her new clothing. It was unlike the rough fabric she was used to back at Hill Valley. Her new attire now consisted of a pair of soft cotton pants and a matching cotton shirt. Alice shuddered at the plain white color, but was grateful for the comfortable fabric. Curious as to what her new surroundings were, she eased herself from the bed and padded softly to the large white door. Towards the top of the door was a small window, allowing her to see out into the halls. Those too were painted a pristine white. “God, have these people never heard of a rainbow before? Or maybe they are just cheap…” She grumbled to herself. The plain white walls making her increasingly uneasy. She opened the door carefully and poked her head out. No one seemed to be in sight. The hallway floor was different from the mild linoleum of her room. It was a solid cool marble, that felt like ice beneath her bare feet. Which made sticking noises as she walked down the corridor. She made note of the different rooms, and about two rooms over she sneaked a peek inside. Alice had been used to her all girls asylum back in Hill Valley, so what she saw inside as the door creaked open, surprised her a bit. Lying on the bed before her was an older boy. He was still asleep, still and peaceful. She couldn’t help but envy him. Thinking about her restless nights as she fought the nightmares in her mind. The boy stirred, groaning as he slowly awoke. Alice gasped, feeling embarrassed for her peeping, her cheeks flushed a light pink.

Seth’s first thought was that he was cold. His second was that he must still be dreaming, because there was a girl standing a few feet away from him. He shot up in bed with a yelp, drawing the sheets up to his face as though he were only a child. “Who are you?” The girl stared back at him, her eyes wide and fearful. “Who are you?” Seth demanded again, crawling out of the bed and eyeing her suspiciously. He knew everyone in his asylum, but he definitely didn’t know this girl. Was she new? But why was she here in his room? A sudden wave of nausea hit him and he teetered in place. Why did he feel so dizzy and sick? Seth threw his hands up to his head and held it, rocking back and forth. A few silent minutes went by, making him think that the girl must have left, but when he peered out from between his finger she was still standing there. He grew suspicious and paranoid. “What is wrong with me?” Seth stumbled over to her, but the wave of nausea hit him again. He tripped forward, throwing his hands out to save himself. His fingers caught the surprised girl by the arms. She cried out as Seth’s momentum sent them crashing against the open door. It slammed closed, the sound echoing throughout the room. Seth didn’t move for another few moments. He clenched his eyes shut and concentrated on breathing. When he finally managed to peel his eyes open again, he was surprised to see the girl’s startled face staring back at him only an inch away. They locked eyes, and Seth saw a pink hue creep into her cheeks. He pulled back, spurting apologies as he went. Deciding that standing right now was only trouble, he thought I t best to just sit back down on the edge of the bed. His head returned to the safety of his hands as he tried to dispel the last of the nausea. “Who are you?” Seth tried again, mumbling into his hands. “And where am I?” He tried to peek at her again, but the light caught his eyes and the nausea returned. Maybe they had given him a medicine that made him sensitive to light. The girl might know more about it; he had to remember to ask her later.

Alice stared at the boy who only a few seconds ago, had slammed her into the door. She watched as he cringed from the light above like a vampire from the rising sun. “I’m Alice and this is the new asylum I believe…” Her response sounded as puzzled as she felt. He had a point. Where were they? Before she had only assumed it was an asylum. But was it really? The boy looked up again through his fingers, and mumbled: “I’m Seth…” He groaned once more and flinched away from the fluorescent light. Alice bit her bottom lip, even though she didn’t know this boy, she felt bad for him. Her eyes caught the blanket that had been thrown to the side when he stood. She reached over and plucked it up. Seth eyed her suspiciously. Alice draped the blanket over his head making a small hood, shielding his eyes from the light. Seth blinked in confusion at her act. Alice only smiled and said: “Now the light won’t hurt you.” “Why would you do that?” He asked, obviously bewildered at her kind task. Alice shrugged and suddenly found the hem of shirt interesting. A silence passed between the two, Seth still staring at her intently, making her shift uncomfortably. “Why where you in here?” He asked, Alice felt the heat return to her cheeks. “I was curious.” She mumbled, her black hair falling over her face. She looked up and met his golden eyes for a moment and her cheeks felt feverish. “Um…I should leave you…you must want to be alone… but you should use the blanket to keep the light out. You don’t want to get a migraine.” Her voice was a weak whisper, which was odd for her, but she was sure he heard her. Alice turned around reaching for the door.

"I'm...outside? But...where's Marie? She doesn't let us go outside unless she's with us..." She looked around her and didn't see any of the other kids. She started walking towards her building, but no matter how much she walked she was just getting futher away. She started to run towards it, she ended up even further away. She stopped and slumped down into the grass and looked down. She was still wearing the outfit that they had given her for being so good. It actually had color it in, rather than just tan or white. "If..I run towards it an get further away..what if I run away..?" ((OOC: Hows that for symbolism...))She stood up and began to run in the direction away from the building and, just as the thought she was back at the building now, and she saw Marie's smiling face. "Allison, dear, I was wondering where you went.. here we re-decorated your room..it has all your favorite colors now and it's beautiful." Allison smiled broadly and followed Marie to her new room. It was full of color and it had drawings that the other girls had made her. She was finally content with everything there. Allison could feel herself being pulled forcefully out of her dream...
Alli's eyes blinked open slowly, as she felt a burning sensation going up her arm. She looked around the room, it was completely white, "Great..just as they made my room comfortable for me.. they transfer me here.." She tried to sit up but it was pained, so she lay back down relaxed and stared at the ceiling for another five minutes. She tried again and managed to stay up this time, "This...is going to be a long day...at least the clothes are comfortable here.." She stood up and walked over to the door, though unsteady at first, and looked out the tiny window. Her stomach growled. "Is anybody out there?" She asked quitely, she didn't hear a response so she tried the door knob. "What kind of person leaves the door open in an asylum?" Allison asked herself. She began walking down the hall and saw a door begin to open. She pressed herself tightly against another door on the same side. "Damn it.. I hope it's just a patient..."

Nyneve felt a wave of pain pulling at her from her sleep, the pain started at the neck and flowed through her body. She twisted uncomfortably, trying to make the pain subdue. She slowly opened her eyes looking at the white ceiling, she closed them. “Oh…St. Jude,” She murmured. She opened her eyes taking in her walls that greeted her every day, but they weren’t the same. Every inch of the room was sickeningly white. All of her belongings were missing. Her books, her paintings, everything! Nyneve definitely knew she was no longer in St. Jude’s. The room she was now in was smaller than her other, and the windows at St. Jude’s were never boarded up. “Where am I?” she asked as she sat up in her bed. Nyneve looked down at herself and noticed that her white dress had been replaced with a white pair of pants and a white shirt. “Oh no!” she gasped “Why would they put me in boys clothes!?” She jumped out of the bed, examining her clothes more closely. They were hideous! The material was itchy, and a little too big for Nyneve to fit in comfortably. Nyneve’s thoughts were interrupted by a noise in the hall. She ran to the door…stopping before opening it. “Should I dare?” she asked herself, as she wrapped her hand around the door handle. At St. Jude’s they were never allowed to leave the rooms unattended, they had to call for the nurse to come with them. She looked around the room to see if there was a call button anywhere. There was none, so she opened the door.

I Am Jack's Complete Lack of Surprise
I Am Jack's Inflamed Sense of Rejection
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Well hello boys! Who are you? NO! God, have these people never heard of a rainbow before? Where am I? Was this just a dream why does my head hurt why what who are you and where am I I’m Alice shouldn’t be here oh God he must think I’m stupid who is this strange girl where am I she helped me why what is my father doing what’s wrong with my clothes hello?” Adam shot up in bed with a yelp, clutching his head in his hands. The room swirled and the shadows took form, clawing their way at him. He blinked a few times and shook his head, dispelling the nightmarish images. “It…must have been another episode,” he mumbled, removing his hands. The strange voices that seemed to smash into him slowly ebbed away as he concentrated on the feeling of something foreign being pushed through his veins. The feeling was familiar to him, and after a moment he realized he must have been given a shot. Adam slowly hauled his feet over the side of the bed. Blood pumped sluggishly through his veins and his limbs were difficult to maneuver. It felt like he hadn’t moved in years… “Is anyone here?” Adam jumped at the voice. His head whipped around, trying to find the source. “Hello?” he called out, some of the fear leaving him when he realized the voice sounded like a young girl. Had he done something last night that he didn’t remember? That was always possible. Things happened. It was only then that it hit Adam: he had no idea where he was. Forgetting the girl, he stood up on weak legs and paced the room, tracing his hands over the interior curiously. They must have moved him in his sleep, he resolved, though whether to a new room or new asylum altogether he wasn’t sure. Deciding that mulling over what was going on wouldn’t get him anywhere, Adam smoothed out the smooth fabric of his clothes-also new- and headed for the door to see if there were any good-looking nurses he could talk to.
