POST ALL ENTRIES INSIDE THIS THREAD! Begins: August 31, at noon PST // 3pm EST Ends: Monday, when I get home >.> On the sad note that some uni aren't tried for, they'll be used in a future contest, or auctioned off. EDIT: -cough- a uni must have at least 2 entries, sorry there's no winning by default... )x[ RULES ] - You can send in one entry per uni, and use each prompt only once, meaning you have up to 4 chances to win! - But you can only win one in the end. - You also cannot gift them to someone else if you win. I want these to go to people who put in the effort themselves. - Keep length reasonable. I don't have time to read a novel D: -- Length just doesn't factor for much, content does. - Entries will be judged based on how much I like it rofl -- I likes people who can convey their character's personality really well. And stuff like good storytelling and spelling/grammar should be a no brainer. - Winners pay a fine of 6k
- And tho not required, I'd lurve it if you stuck around the shop to RP <333

You will answer these prompts playing as the uni you are going for. You can go back and edit your entries for spelling/grammar till the contest is closed, BUT no big changes to your entry are allowed. (I'll have a backup of your entry to compare)
So what pet's will you be vying for?

[ PROMPTS ]
Quote: Prompt 1: The Aphidian horde is on the move, you have just joined the uni ranks and await your chance to do battle. And it seems that time has come sooner than you think, for there before you stands a lone aphid. What do you do? Run, fight, beg for mercy? Do what you feel is right!
Quote: Prompt 2: You were always different than other uni. You didn't know why, but you always gave off this irresistible scent of fruit. And it hasn't gone unnoticed. Both aphids and uni follow you from a distance, is it because they believe you might lead them to a glutton's paradise? Or are their hungry eyes really aimed at you? Who knows, you tell me. ^_^
Quote: Prompt 3: Your home, eaten, gone. What to do? Tell me your story of finding a new place to live, if you ever even do find one...
Quote: Prompt 4: Just your ordinary day, munching on leaves, churning the soil, nothing can go wrong. Or so you thought. Before you realized it, the grounds about your tree home have been taken over. By weeds. D: These were no ordinary weeds, they crept and crawled like vines up a wall, their slow advances may seem harmless but their making a beeline line to your bonsai, and well, if they get to it, it's as good as gone.

Your Name: Entering for which uni? Pet Name: Unii have no gender, so it doesn't matter what you name them since you can choose to RP them as a he or she anyway. ^_^ Prompt #: Entry:

Your Name: Capricorn Sunchai Entering for which uni? Kiweeeeee~<3 Pet Name: Juliek Prompt #: 1 Entry:
And a swing to the right with his deadly, pin-point sharpened horn, a kick out to the left....
Yeah, that'd teach those aphids. Who were they to even challenge the unii? A race so powerful that they spanned six species and had been unrivaled for years; those little insects didn't stand a chance.
Padding through the glade amongst blades of grass that towered above him, Juliek somewhat-stealthily made his way towards the destined meeting spot. A soft hum came from his throat, a contented expression on his face. They had told him that the Aphidian army was on its way, but there wasn't a single sight of them; why should he be worried? He would just meet up with the rest of his new squad and go on some training exercises, then-
He froze.
What was that noise?
Ink-black eyes turned slowly to look into the depths of the grass next to him, ears swiveling on his head to listen again. A soft rustling noise was coming from in there...
The Caere fought the urge to run, paws rooted to the spot. What was he doing? He was supposed to be fearless, to take all challenges head on; why couldn't he move?
Suddenly beady little eyes popped out from in between the thick blades, and Juliek bounded forward. Aphid. Aphid. This was too close to his bonsai for him to ignore; he had to chase it away at least, get it away from his home...
He blended well with the spring-green grass, paws flinging dirt behind him as he ran after the insect. His large ears had flattened back against his skull, keeping the whipping noise of the wind out of them and letting him focus. Where had it gone? He stopped, tiny heart hammering hard. As his eyes found the closest source of movement, a triumphant growl came from his lungs. He had succeeded; if only the entire war would be this easy.
The aphid was running.
[[ Yay for lame entry. xD;; <33 I'm doing another one later. ]]

Your Name: Lord_pippa_ari Entering for which uni? Kiweeeeeee~<3 Pet Name: Rissale Prompt #: #4 Entry: Rissale frowned, following the vines progress with his eyes. Day after day, and closer to the tree the vines got. He'd tried tugging the vines off his bonzai, tried diverting them to row around and away from the tree, and even tried digging the vines up, all to no avail. What more was there he could do?
He sighed, once again walking the length of the longest tangle of vines, studying them. What could he do to remove these pesky things? Riss sat down in front of the vines, between his tree and the invading weed, sighing. 'How annoying can you get? There isn't any reason to cling so much to being rooted right here. Go somewhere else, for crying out loud.'
He started the long, hard task of tugging and jerking, trying to pull and push the vines into a roll so he could get them away from his tree. The mass had just gotten too big for him to push and pull now. So what to do from here, was the biggest question. The vines had tasted terrible, Riss recalled from when he'd moved them with his mouth. But maybe chewing through them all would make them easier to manage...and removing the leaves might kill the weed off for good, even.
Riss nodded, deciding this was a good plan for now. He'd have to wash his mouth out later on. With a bit of a grimace, Riss started chewing on a rather large vine, trying not to allow any of the disgusting tasting juice from it slip down his throat. He has to spit quite a few times. 'God, this thing is aweful!' He complained, though he saw he was making slow progress. He knew he could do this. His tree depended on him to protect it. Riss got strength from that thought, and he fought the nausea down, tossing vine bit by vine bit away from his tree until there was a pretty large pile on the ground. Pretty large to Riss anyways.
Satisfied, Riss pushed and pulled the remaining bit off his pot, watching as it fell over to the ground before he happily went to rinse his mouth out. 'The soil needs to be churned again. A bit of water would be good as well.' He thought, before he went up his tree to get some lunch. He'd have to get right on that after a short break.

Your Name: Kiareii Entering for which uni? Bananyan Swirl Pet Name: Aniketos Prompt #: #3 Entry: Devastation, confusion, loneliness-Aniketos felt all these things and more as he sat on the side of his pot morosely contemplating what was left of his bonsai: the beautiful tree that had been his food, his shelter, and his life-his everything-was now nothing but a shriveled, twisted nothing in a pot of mud.
It had started a few weeks previous; a couple leaves at a time would start to turn brown around the edges, then shrivel from the tip up towards the main branch of the frond. Ani had been annoyed, but had snipped the leaves off expecting to make room for new growth. Hours of digging up roots, scouring branches for parasites, and bringing water from new locations had no effect. Nothing could make the leaves shrivel like that-except aphids, but there were none to be found! He stopped eating, stopped sleeping to watch over his tree-hoping to find the pests ruining his home and his life. When he finally found the aphids, it was too late because the pests had attacked his bonsai in force. Ani fought bravely, relentlessly but still, in the end it was all GONE.
A stiff breeze yanked him from his thoughts, forcing the flustered Ertiba to scramble to keep his place on the edge of the pot. Falling off of the edge of his own pot would be a staggering, if not final, blow to his pride. Snorting and shaking himself, Ani managed to settle his ruffled fur, and with once last, longing glance at what remained of his home, he turned his back, lifted his head and leap nimbly to the ground-determined to face the world and find a new home.
Having no particular location in mind, Aniketos meandered aimlessly through the forest of grass that made up most of the garden. The world beyond his bonsai was so big, so open, and rather frightening for the displaced uni. Ani found himself walking tall and determined at first, but the farther he went, the faster and faster he trotted through the twisted grasses until he was in a full-out gallop. When the dappled sunlight that had been accompanying him suddenly disappeared, he stopped short and looked around frantically while trying to regain his breath. He hadn't even noticed the sun until its absence-until its warmth was gone. His panicked reconnaissance brought a large stick to his attention and he trotted over to it. Struggling to jump and climb his way up the fallen stick, Ani looked out over the grass and realized he had come to the abandoned corner of the garden. If nothing else, he could find temporary shelter here, especially since he could smell a storm brewing on the breeze ...and he also smelled something utterly foreign ...and utterly delicious.
In a lightening quick change of mood so typical of his kind, Ani found himself stumbling his way off the branch eagerly following his nose towards the delicious aroma beckoning him. It led him into what appeared to be a pile of leaves larger and greener than any he'd ever seen. As soon as he passed under the first leaf, he was confronted by a wall of familiar and soothing terracotta brown. 'A pot? This is... a bonsai?'
Jumping cautiously up onto the edge of the pot, Ani swiveled his ears and kept his eyes wide-on the lookout for an angry uni to come sweeping down on him. But his physical and telepathic senses told him there was no one in the immediate area. Still cautious, Aniketos pushed aside another leaf only to be confronted by a cluster of strange golden yellow pods that were as big as he was. He was drawn to them not only because of their enchanting scent but because they were as brilliantly colored as he was. 'This is what smells so wonderful, is this food? I've never seen anything like this before.'
Seeing a round hill that he assumed was the trunk, Ani jumped up to snap through one of the pod stems with his teeth. He followed the fallen pod down onto the soft dirt surrounding the strange stump, and after a few nudges with his muzzle, his senses told him this exotic food was safe enough to eat. He started with a few nervous experimental nibbles, then Ani broke through the outer skin of the pod to the soft fruit that was the source of the enchanting scent that had beckoned him to this bonsai. The sweet succulent flavor of the soft insides filled his mouth, and Aniketos experienced a sense of calmness and relaxation-complete comfort. As the rain started to pour, a new sparkle gleamed out from the depths of his inky black eyes and a possessive arch appeared in the once again proud neck of the young Ertiba. 'This tree is mine. I am home, and no aphid will take it from me this time!'

Your Name: BEYOND BIRTHDAY Entering for which uni? Dark Cherry Watermelon Pet Name: Tamesis Prompt #: 1 Entry: Tamesis strode back toward her bonsai home, head held high with pride. She had just joined the ranks of the Unii who were to fight the Aphidian army, and knew she would do them proud. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a lone aphid appeared, crawling obliviously out of a clump of grass. Readying herself to fight, the dark red Uni tensed her muscles, bent low, and sprang at her adversary.
The aphid cried out in surprise, knocked over onto its back. With a growl, it bared its teeth at its attacker, but flailed helplessly on the ground, unable to right itself with its short, stubby legs.
Taking no chances, Tamesis lunged again at her helpless target. She had no illusion of "honor", of not striking an incapacitated opponent, for she knew that in battle, to wait for the opponent to recover was an invitation to disaster. She sank her horn into the aphid's exposed stomach several times, pleased as her enemy cried out in pain.
No longer having the strength left to fight, the agonized aphid begged for mercy. "Please...no more," it implored the Uni, its voice growing weaker by the second.
Tamesis had no mercy, for these beasts sought solely to consume all the plants they could, to rob the Unii of their homes. "No mercy for you," she snarled, plunging her crimson horn, stained with the green of the aphid's life-force, once more into the creature.
The aphid gave a weak cry, and its eyes glazed over in death. "I have failed my fellow Aphidians," was its last thought.
Tamesis howled in triumph as the aphid's soul left its body. She couldn't actually see the departing spirit, but an emptiness had come into the beast's eyes, and she knew it was no longer a threat.

Your Name: AmaryIIis (amaryiiis) Entering for which uni? Kiweeeeeee~<3 Pet Name: Kadgi Prompt #: 1 Entry:
I stood in the back of the line, wishing my knees wouldn't knock together quite so loudly. Was that my knees, or was that the sound of my heartbeat? I couldn't tell. Before I knew it, the line was pushing forward, into the battlefields where I would fight the aphids for the first time.
What had I been thinking?
I'd never been to war before, I'd never even fought with the unii I'd grown up with. I watched as those same unii attacked the enemy with vicious abandon I'd never seen before, and it scared me. How could I know, how could I have known what to expect when I'd come here? Despite my shaking legs and even more shaky resolve, I still pushed forward. I had to. For my home. For my friends. For my family. For me. Thats why I had to fight the aphids.
As I made my way to the front of the fight, one by one aphids fell under my hooves. I didn't even really realize what I was doing--thrashing, kicking, stabbing, making my way through the melee was the only thing I could do. I was so caught up in the sounds of battle, the feel of my blood pumping through my veins, and my heartbeat still thumping loudly in my ears that it carried me away, carried me forward. Those that I struck down, I didn't know if they stayed down or not. I only knew that they were no longer in my way, and that way was forward. That way was out of the battlefield, forward to the goals that I fought for, bringing me face to face with an aphid who probably thought that he was fighting for the same reasons.
And for that moment, time stood still. As I'd fought before...I hadn't really seen my enemy. Met their eyes. Wondered who waited for them at their own home. Could I really do this? Could I really kill? What was I fighting for again? I had no more time to think about it. The aphid rushed me, and I reared up, bringing my hooves down with all of my strength.
The battle was over.
We had won.
In a manner of speaking.
((At least one more to come later x3;; These are so cute!))

Your Name: AmaryIIis Entering for which uni? Bananyan Swirl Pet Name: Dreama Prompt #: 4 Entry:
Stomp. Stomp stomp.
"Take that!" she growled, eyeing what used to be a small creeping vine. It was mush now, and hopefully wouldn't give her any more trouble. However, it seemed as if there would be no end of trouble to this stupid thing. She'd been weeding, stomping, biting, whatever she could think to get the pesky vine to die or at least grow elsewhere, and she was beginning to think that it was somehow related to the kudzu vine. A mutant kudzu vine. That's what it was.
Stomp. Stompstompstompstompstomp!
"Yeeaarrggh!" Before she'd even turned all the way around, there was another one! Short of frolicking around like a demented antelope, there was no way she was going to be able to squash all of the little seedlings. And where, exactly, was the mutant vine that continued to spawn them?
As if she were some expert hunter, Dreama crouched low to the ground, critial eyes searching for a sign. Something to show her where this alien plant had crash landed. After a moment of searching, she saw it. It was a small tendril, lurking behind her precious bonzai.
"Aha!"
Pounce. Stomp. Chew. Stab. Mangle. Stompstompstompstompstomp!
Breathing hard but filled with triumph, Dreama stood back from the obliterated plant and looked on with some satisfaction. And that's what you get for messing with me! she thought to herself smugly. That thought and attitude lasted just long enough for the uni to look up from her kill and to the wall of...vine...that stood behind it. Lurking behind her bonzai, hidden until that moment, was the rest of the vine, twining around a rock that she'd used to shelter herself and her little tree for quite some time. Dreama looked at it as if it were a pile of slithering, venomous snakes and it might as well have been--as quickly as it grew and as fast as it traveled, there was no telling how safe her bonzai was, and she couldn't have that. This was her bonzai. Taking a fortifying breath, Dreama launched herself at the alien kudzu.
Slice. Stab. Twist. Kick. Thrash. Fall...tangle...stuck.
"Aw, crap."

Your Name:Lord_pippa_Ari Entering for which uni? Orange Azteca Pet Name: Azteca Prompt #: #1 Entry: Az shook her head to clear away the misty fog that she'd let creep up into her thoughts at the moment she saw her opponent. The Aphid was, truthfully, rather cute. It's eyes were wide and bright, resembling those of a baby. At least, Az thought so. But the Aphid was her enemy, and as such, she would have to fight it in battle, baby face or not.
Slowly, Az moved around the Aphid, just trying to feel out the movements and actions of this enemy. This would be her first real battle...Her first chance to shine and show her worth. This also meant she was nervous, which she blamed for the slight trembling and weakness in her knees. But there was no time for that. 'I have to win this...no matter what.'
Az crouched, watching the Aphid with curiosity. Was it thinking the same way she was...? Of proving it's worth to those around itself, and so fighting to do such? Az smiled a little before she attacked, moving fast toward the Aphid. If it was so...then they would both put their fighting spirit into this battle. 'We shall be locked into fates woven cloth, recorded into history together till only one will triumph. Come then!' She called as she charged.

Your Name: Lord_Pippa_Ari Entering for which uni? Dark Cherry Watermelon Pet Name: D.C Prompt #: #3 Entry: D.C stared at the dead bonsai before him in a passive way. Gone...Every leaf was gone...every sign of life along with them. The tree looked the worse for wear from the Aphid attack, obviously having lost to the ravenous bugs. 'No point in hanging around...nothing can change what has occurred here....' Still, to leave his home...really bothered him. He'd worked this same soil since his birth... and to leave now... He turned his eyes away, finally getting up.
Move on and survive...or stay here and starve. The only options remaining to him. He slowly placed one paw in front of the other, walking slowly forward with a calm face to match the pace he'd set. A new home meant a future...but it now came down to finding this home. Logic told D.C that this was going to be a much harder thing to do then one would think. At least...it did after the first couple of places he tried.
Other trees were just too big.
The sappling he tried was just too small and tasted bad anyways.
The watering hose was too close to the garden he'd tried settling into, which only ended up in him getting soaked as the garden flooded.
A pail to one side of the large, black barking beast's house was too smelly, even if there was a lot of the barking beast's soft fur inside, making for a comfortable bed. He couldn't stand the smell of dog's, it seemed.
As the day pressed on, D.C found himself drawing closer and closer to the house where large animals lived. Humans, he was nearly positive they were called. Maybe he should have paid a bit more attention to the things around him, when he'd had a home, so that he'd know how to think of the things out here now. But being content with ones life will make one not care about the rest of the world.
He slowly wandered his way through a large window, afraid at first that it would come crashing down on him. Still, there were pleasant smells coming from here, and D.C was curious as to what it was. His nose guided D.C along a narrow ledge, all of which he turned down as prospective houses.
The clock was too loud.
The dressers were too hard.
There weren't any soil in the fake potted plants. (They tasted gross anyways.)
D.C sighed, finally turning a corner in the long hallway he'd just tackled. That was a long walk...and he was starving. D.C wanted his home...He wanted his tree back, with it's gentle swaying in the breeze, the tasty leafs, and the comfortable branch he slept on. Wouldn't he ever find someplace even remotely close to that?
Tiredly, D.C got back to his feet, following his nose again till he finally found the source of the smell that had lured him into this house. A rather large, and rather unkempt, bonsai was resting on a table in this room. It was an utter mess! D.C couldn't even believe that any Uni could allow their home to get in such a way....Unless there was no Uni for this home? Frowning, D.C slowly climbed his way up the long white table cloth, heading for his target: A fulfilling dinner and possibly, a new home.

Your Name: Capricorn Sunchai Entering for which uni? Bananyan Swirl Pet Name: Riis Prompt #: 2 Entry:
Her tail twitched.
Was she being followed again?
Ink-black eyes slowly turned to look behind her, watching the movement in the towering blades of grass of the glade. This happened all the time, and it was beginning to make the Ertiba quite paranoid. What was it about her that attracted so many strange things?
At first she had shrugged it off, assuming that the uni lurking in the shadows of her wake had been merely too scared to approach her; it was, after all, close to mating season. Riis had simply assumed that they were some distant suitor craving the bright color of her pelt. The more vibrant the color, they said, the better 'genes' you had. Whatever the heck 'genes' were anyways; her yellow and white stuck out amongst the lush, dark green of the glade. Even the leaves of her precious home were tipped in yellow, speckled in white like it had rained wet paint.
Any other day she would have shrugged it off, white paws carrying her to the safety of the inner reaches of her bonsai.
But today something was different. It was just uni anymore; suddenly she was staring directly into the green eyes of a large, striped feline. Oh no.
Bolting, Riis let her legs carry her as quickly as they could away from the cat and towards the safety of her home once again. The thing bumbled contentedly after her, a soft purring noise coming from its throat. What was wrong with it? Shouldn't she be smushed and toyed with by now? Those cats could close in on her in a matter of seconds; was it just playing a game? She knew that they were more for the unii than aphids, but still! It was huge compared to her!
She began to feel paranoia creep in again as she dove for the safety of her home, darting to the tiny trunk and clinging tight to it, insect-like eyes wide. What was this all about? Honestly, it's not like she was made of candy or something- right?
Outside the miniature tree, the feline gently plucked a slim, yellow fruit from the leaves of the bonsai, purr still thrumming deep in its throat. Turning and bounding away with its prize, the scent of fruit finally began to whisk away with the breeze...
