Angela walked into her office carrying the files of the child she'd be giving shots to at this appointment. She'd read them before coming here, and so set them down on her desk as she passed it.
She continued on her way to the table, setting up the tray for Yeesha, a female American Alligator.
She'll have tough scales, so I'll need the larger needle... she thought, and went to bring out that, along with everything else she would need.

"Noooo! Jathper!" Yeesha kicked and swished her tail angrily, pulling futilely against her new guardian's firm grip. "I don't wanna go! I don't wanna! Jathper you're not lithtening!" It was plain to see that the alligator girl was not pleased. She had only just recovered from that nasty bout of scale rot that he forced her into near solitary confinement. There was no reason she needed to go back to D-Corp and get some sort of strange shot! That wasn't fair! She was better now, wasn't she? Urg!
Jasper, for his part, seemed quite calm. True, he was a little miffed that she had torn the seats in his car, but they could be fixed. Now, if she nailed him in one of his eyes with her tail, he would be in trouble. "Listen, Yeesha, we can go for donuts afterwards, I promise! Or like... cakes or something. Do you like donuts or cakes better?" Yeesha snapped her mouth shut and glared at him, before she finally said, "Thuthi?" Jasper blinked, but he nodded. "Yeah sure kid. Whatever you want."
The alligator girl seemed momentarily pacified, and allowed herself to be dragged into the vaccinations office. Sushi or no sushi, she wasn't going to do this too willingly.

Angela turned to the door as the shouting could be heard through it, and soon enough the source of the voice came through her door, dragged by her guardian. It seemed like this was going to be another tricky one.
"Hello. Jasper and Yeesha, I presume?" Angela asked, approaching to within a few feet with a kind smile. "It's a pleasure to meet you," she said, nodding to both of them in turn, and extending her hand to the parent.
She looked down at the spirited Alligator girl. "It's nice to meet you, Yeesha. My name is Angela," she said, hoping to guage the girl's temper by her reaction.

"Yup! That would be us! Sorry about the commotion, just having a little bit of a disagreement." Jasper flashed Angela a wide smile, as he shook the offered hand. "Would have rather met on less unpleasant circumstances but there you have it. Life's like that, ay kid?" He nudged Yeesha gentle with his hand, and she scowled at him. Adults had never been her favourite people in the world. They seemed to like ruining her fun. But they did make good bait for playing Lake Monster, so she supposed they weren't too bad.
The alligator girl stared quietly at Angela for a moment, her tail swishing behind her. "Angela," she repeated, testing the sound of the name. It sounded alright. "You gonna be doing the vacks.... vackthinathions?" There were far too many 's' sounds in that word, Yeesha decided, as she tried to force it out too fast. Still, she had decided that vaccinations were not something she liked, and so the question was accompanied by a frown. Was this lady going to be the one to do it or someone else?

Angela smiled back at Jasper, and decided she liked his handshake. You could tell a lot about a person from that alone.
"You were quieter than some of the appointments I've had before, she said, chuckling.
Then, she turned her attention to Yeesha, nodding.
"Yes, that's me. Just a quick poke, and it's all over with. You seem like a brave girl," she said, giving Yeesha an appraising glance, and an approving smile.

Yeesha's frown turned to a scowl when Angel admitted that she was going to be the one doing her vaccinations. Her tail gave another angry swish, as she contemplating making a run for it. Was sushi really worth this? Angela's second comment, however, caught her off guard and her expression turned to one of mild confusion. Brave? Had the Angela lady just said she was brave? Judging by the expression on her face, it looked like she had been praising her. Huh.
"Of courth I'm brave!" she announced, puffing out her chest proudly. If this was a matter of bravery than Yeesha was most definitely the bravest alligator of them all! She bet Jekel would be brave about this too. He would be proud of her now. "I'm not thcared of anything!"
Jasper couldn't help but grin. Angela was definitely good at this.

She put her hands on her hips and looked down at Yeesha's display with a bright smile.
"Is that so? Well, then, this should be a piece of cake!" Angela said, and patted the table invitingly.
"Are you ready? If you are, come on up here, and we'll be done in a jiffy," said the teacher, with a nod.

"Piece of thuthi," Yeesha corrected, as she hopped up onto the table. Sushi, in her opinion, was much better than cake. Sweet foods were not exactly the alligator's favourite thing, though she didn't mind eating them. If you wanted to get her attention you were much better off dangling meat or seafood in front of her as a reward. She had a hard time resisting that.
The alligator girl's head tilted when Angela used a word she didn't recognize. "Jiffy? Ith that fatht? Like fathter than a thecond?" If so, this Angela woman must be really, really good at what she did. Yeesha couldn't do anything faster than a second.

Angela paused and cocked her head to the side, then laughed, delighted.
"Yes, it's much faster than a plain old second, but just like when someone says, 'I'll only be a second," they usually just mean they'll be quick about it. How about that?" she asked.
As she spoke, she tore open one of the alcohol swabs, and rubbed it gently in a circular motion on Yeesha's upper arm.

"Okay! You mutht be really good at it if you can be that fatht." Yeesha grinned broadly up at Angela, unable to help but fidget on the table. She had a hard time sitting still, but she was trying her best. Angela had managed to win her over with the brave comment, and thus she was going to be on her best behaviour.
She stopped her fidgeting when Angela rubbed the swab on her arm, watching her with interest. "What'th that for?"

Angela smiled at the girl's comment; she'd had a lot of practice, especially lately, so she hoped she was good, or at least getting good.
"That," Angela answered, "is to kill any germs in that area, so they can't get in where the needle did."
"And then I'll get that needle ready..." Angela said, and suited actions to words, filling the needle with clear liquid from the bottle up to the desired line on the tube. Then, she tapped it and gave it a little squirt to make sure there were no air bubbles.
All of this was done quickly and discreetly, as usual, though she didn't think Yeesha would be frightened by it. Angela herself had a mild dislike of needles, so she liked to minimize her time with them.

"Oh." Yeesha was quiet for a moment, before she realized she didn't know what a germ was. It sounded like something quite dangerous though, but she didn't want to interrupt what Angela was doing to ask. She seemed quite focused. Still, she decided she would draw a picture of what she thought a germ looked like when she got home. That would decide what they were, at least until Jasper found the picture and corrected it.
The sight of the needle made butterflies flutter in the alligator girl's stomach, though she knew she had to be on her best behaviour. Besides, Angela had promised that she would be faster than a second. Not to mention Yeesha was supposed to be brave. "'m ready when you are!" She announced, trying to push the butterflies out of her stomach. She could do this!

Angela nodded, and turned back. She noticed Yeesha looking nervous, but trying to be brave.
"Alright, here we go," she said, and in a quick, practiced motion, poked Yeesha with the needle, pushed in the plunger, and set it aside. A piece of gauze was pressed over the site, and rubbed gently to spread the injection out and minimize soreness.
"See, quick and easy," she said in a confident manner, nodding reassuringly to Yeesha.
"You did wonderfully, Yeesha," she added, and smiled at Jasper as well.

Yeesha's tail gave a sharp swish, however the alligator girl stayed completely still. Before she even noticed the pain the needle was already out and the gauze pressed against her skin. Angela had been right about it being very fast. "Very fatht!" She agreed, quite excited now that it was all over. She had been a very good girl and that meant she was going to get sushi! Things just couldn’t get any better.
The alligator girl grinned widely at the compliment, before hopping off the table. "I can go home now, right?" She wanted her reward!
Jasper smiled back at Angela, and gave her an approving nod. "Thank you very much, Angela, you have a talent for handling these things."

Angela nodded, and said, "Yes, we're all done here. You can go home."
"And you're welcome, and thank you," she added to Jasper, smiling at the compliment.
"She was a very good girl, in my estimation. I'd offer a sucker..." she glanced down at Yeesha, "But from the earlier conversation I'd say you don't like candy?" she asked the little girl. Not everyone did.
