Key to Cocktail Measurements
Our cocktail collection recipes are based on the imperial standard used predominantly in the United States. Here are the international equivalents.
Ounce or Pony
1 oz (ounce) equals 3/4 shot, jigger or pony 1 oz (ounce) equals 3 cl (centiliters) 1 oz (ounce) equals 30 ml (milliliters) 1 oz (ounce) equals 2 tbsp (tablespoons)
Shot or Jigger
1 shot equals 1 1/2 oz (ounces) 1 shot equals 4.5 CL (centiliters) 1 shot equals 45 ml (milliliters) 1 shot equals 3 tbsp (tablespoons)
Cup
1 cup equals 8 oz (ounces) 1 cup equals 24 CL (centiliters) 1 cup equals 240 ml (milliliters)
Bottle
1 bottle equals 750 ml (milliliters)
Dash or Splash
Universal terms for small amounts. There are approximately 36 dashes in one ounce. When a recipe calls for a variable amount of dashes, for example 2 - 4 dashes grenadine, this indicates that you are seasoning to taste. A splash is slightly larger than a dash, but considered to be less and 1/2 oz.
Fill
Usually designated to nonalcoholic mixers, such as juices or sodas. To fill you pour liquid into cocktail glass until it reaches the appropriate watermark.
Float
Universal term for layering 1/4 oz to 1 oz spirit on top of a prepared beverage. Best method is to pour liquor over the back side of a spoon or along rim of glass.

Another great Champagne cocktail and this one's a light blue color. Get creative with your glassware for this cocktail, I prefer a white wine glass or old-fashioned glass but it is also stunning in a Champagne glass. Finding a blue maraschino cherry may be difficult but a red one looks just as good.
Winter Cocktail
Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz SKYY Orange vodka 1/2 oz blue curaçao 1 oz Champagne blue maraschino cherry for garnish
Preparation: Pour the vodka and blue curaçao into a mixing glass with ice. Stir well. Strain into a Champagne glass. Top with the Champagne. Garnish with a blue maraschino cherry.

If you like berry flavored cocktails this classic is a great choice. The Kir became popular in French cafes in the middle of the 19th century and was further popularized by Felix Kir after World War II. The then mayor of Dijon in Burgundy, France, served the drink often to promote his region's fine products (wine and creme de cassis). The name Kir has been associated with the drink ever since. There are also many variations of this wine cocktail (see below), each unique but carrying on the Kir tradition. The choice of white wine is something of personal taste; dry wines are preferred, Chablis is great.
Kir
Ingredients: 1/4 oz creme de cassis 2 1/4 oz dry white wine
Preparation: Pour the creme de cassis into a wine glass. Slowly add the dry white wine.
Cardinal: Substitute red wine for the white wine Kir Breton: Substitute Breton cider for the wine Kir Imperial: Substitute raspberry liqueur for the creme de cassis and Champagne for the wine Kir Normand: Substitute Normandy cider for the wine

Bishop Wine Cocktail
A red wine cocktail to surprise your friends. Yes, it's a red wine cocktail, served chilled. It's a time to live dangerously and experiment!
In your cocktail shaker place cracked ice and the following ingredients:
3 ounces red wine 2 ounces lemon juice (Be aware that bottled juices are sweeter than fresh. Always use fresh juice for the best results.) 2 teaspoons simple syrup (To make your own simple syrup, dissolve two cups sugar in one cup water, until the water boils. The longer you boil the water, the stronger the syrup. It should be the consistency of olive oil not honey. Place in an attractive bottle.) Shake ingredients together and pour into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange twist.
