Kimihiro lay curled in a loose ball, his head down on his forelegs and his good eye half-lidded focusing on nothing in particular. A light ocean breeze ruffled the fur along his back and he beat a restless rythm against the long grass with his curled tail. He knew he should probably quit his moping and hiding, but he just wanted to be away for a bit.
Kimi lifted his gaze to the white sand and beyond to the ocean, here where he was laying in the dune grass was far enough away from the water where he could still hear the rush of he water but he wasn't close enough to be tempted into a swim. Kimi actually loved to swim, if he was boastful, he could say he was better than all his siblings, but he wasn't the type to care much for 'better thans', he was much more content to just be. And right now, just being here in the warmth of the sun, was enough, he stretched his lanky limbs and resettled himself, his eye down again.

Hilfy yawned and stretched languidly, arching her back and hooking the tip of her tail, then raised her head and looked around, shaking off the last cobwebs of her midmorning nap. Ah, it was such a nice morning for a nap on the warm, south-facing rocks. She stretched again, and jumped smoothly down from the spot she had chosen for her nap, to the hard-packed sand of the beach, flicking her ears around.
After a moment, and for no particular reason, she chose left, and slowly ambled down the beach, stopping often to sniff at an unusual piece of sea life, or paw one of the many little jellyfish washed up on shore. The ocean was so interesting, there was so much to see. She purred softly to herself, then paused, catching an unfamiliar scent on the gentle wind. She looked upwind, intrigued, trying to spot with her eyes the male she could scent.

Movement caught Kimi's attention, the splash of red coming down the beach in his direction, it stood out from the pale and norm of the sand and surf. He lifted his head again a few minutes after the first time and watched the kit's progress with a small smile tugging at his maw. When the youth paused catching his scent, he made no motion to hide further nor come out and introduce himself, he just lay there and watched her, curious how long it would take for his spot to be found out, if this kit was the type to be that curious. Otherwise he would he was content to stay hidden, if he was passed by.

Hmm, it was inland... She sniffed delicately, her ears both facing directly forward as she started slowly walking back and forth across the beach, moving about a hundred feet then stopping and searching before moving in the other direction, slowly moving towards where the scent was strongest. Her eyes traced in regular little sweeps across the shore grass, a smile on her face. She loved the challenge of a good hunt, and this one had the makings of one better than most. No sound, no sight, and only a rough idea of scent.
She slipped into the grass, making hardly any noise as she dropped to her belly, padding forward an inch at a time, and patently ignoring the fact that her bright red fur stuck out like a sore thumb in the green grass.

Kimi's tail had quit it's sporadic thumping a while ago, he watched the kit's progress with his good eye, sitting perfectly still, breathing shallow and smiling softly. He knew a hunter when he saw one, having his own parents as very good examples, and this one truly seemed to know what she was doing.
When she came onto the grass he knew he would keep his advantage of blending with the sand for only so long, and yet, she slipped out of his line of sight, if he moved his head, would that give him away? Kimi chanced it and shifted his head slowly, to see if he could spot her again, she couldn't have gotten to his blind side already. But his faulty vision was against him, he lost red and the gray grass became green in his sight, this with his lack of depth perception... he let out the smallest sigh, trying to spot the other kit again.

Hilfy instantly froze and flattened herself to the ground, only after a moment realizing why. A motion? She could swear that she'd seen something move off to her left front. For almost a full minute she hugged the sand, her eyes sweeping the grass while her ears strained to pick up any unnatural noise. Whomever was hiding up here was darn good at what he was doing, she was sure. After a full minute had passed, she ever-so-cautiously started her search again, warier this time, knowing that her target was close.
She giggled to herself, and altered her course a little, trying to circle around behind whomever it was, because although she was a fair huntress, she was before all things a kitten and dearly loved playing. A good pounce from behind might be just the ticket for a good tussle.

Kimi thought he had spotted the hunter-kit, maybe, he'd seen something move for sure, but then nothing, he lowered his head to his paws and rubbed at his 'good' eye, maybe his colors would switch again and he would spot her. He lifted his head again after a vigorous rubbing, but the grass stayed green when his eye re-focused. He couldn't see any movement besides the slowly shifting grass blades that bend in the breeze.
Maybe he had fooled himself, maybe she had not been tracking him at all, there was more interesting things, surely, on this beach... Kimi checked to the right again, the slighted frown on his maw.

Hilfy slowly wiggled forward on her belly, having a good idea of where her 'prey' was hiding now from scent, although that was fading quickly as she moved crosswind from him, turning in towards about where she thought he was. She tried very hard not to rustle the grass as she moved, trying to hide her little forward wiggles in time with the ripples of the wind through the grass. (A more experienced hunter would have known that it doesn't really help, but in her mind she was the very epitome of stealth.)
She giggled to herself again silently, seeing for the briefest instant the tip of a tail through the green grass, and maybe an ear, along with a tiny movement. Knowing where someone was, and knowing that they DIDN'T know you knew, was one of the best kinds of fun. She slowly gathered her hind legs under her, her tail twitching low as she prepared for a pounce.

When he was sure there was nothing to his left and no movement to his right, Kimi lowered his head to his paws again, sure that she had moved on, he wasn't used to sneak attacks, though he should have learned his lesson. His sisters usually announced their intentions to pounce by shouting his name and barreling at him, only to gnaw upon his ears with their teeth until he begged them to stop. The only fight he'd ever won was against Nemesis, all the good that did him.

Hilfy wiggled her tail one more time, and pounced! She was briefly surprised that she had not been noticed, usually she got spotted before she could pounce. She landed on the slightly-larger male's back with a small flop, deliberately landing her weight on her back paws on the ground behind him, not actually wanting to hurt anyone.
"Surprise!" She squeaked, bopping him on the head with her little paws. "Gotchya!"

Kimi was so surprised that he squealed at the pounce, he was old enough that his voice had deepened just a little, but it betrayed him at times like this and shot up an octave. He twisted around and rolled and his surprise shifted a little, his second reaction was to bop back, but it was half-hearted, more of an ear-nudging.
"Geeze, so you were stalking me after all?" He let out a playful growl, his mood lifting slightly, and he poked her a few times aiming for her sides.

"Eeeeep!" Hilfy wiggled ticklishly, giggling and batting wildly with her paws. "Heheh, yep, all the way from the beach! By scent too, you're good at hiding!" She growled cutely, bopping his ears again and trying to dodge his pokes. "I love stalking things, it's the best kind of fun!"
She poked one paw into the grass and wiggled her ears. "This stuff is awful for sneaking through, though, my parents HAD to make me red!"

"I spotted you at first, but you got away from me, maybe you're better than you think?"
Kimi kept up the tickle-poking, her giggles were infectious and a smile teased his maw again, he ducked his head but failed at dodging and was bopped back a few times too. "I don't think it's such a bad shade, as colors go, you wouldn't get lost in a crowd." Red shifted back to his sight and green stayed to, he was surprised again, and blinked rapidly, looking around to check if other shades were returning to him, but just the two were present for now, besides the gray of everything else, he shook his head a little.
"Better than being tan, in my book, I'm the palest of my sibling, that's the only reason I'm good at hiding on the sand."

"Eeeeh, I think I got lucky, they usually spot me 'cause I'm so red. I think tan is a nice colour, it must be nice to be able to hide well." She giggled again, wiggling around almost on her back, trying not to get poked, and failing miserably. "Eeep, and they know that I'm ticklish, too!" She wiggled forward and nommed on an ear, not using her teeth of course, and trying not to giggle around the mouthful of red fur.
Hilfy purred happily, glad to have found someone else to play with on an otherwise-boring afternoon. Life was so much more fun with others around to share the playing!

"Well maybe luck has something to do with it," he winked at her, or blinked in a telling manner anyway, with only one eye to emote with, it was a little strange to be 'winking' at all. "I guess tan has it's perks, if you look at it that way~"
Kimi sat up and pulled his ears away, he kept pawing at her, because her giggle was washing away his poor mood, and she didn't seem to mind so much. "What little kitten isn't ticklish?"
He let up soon enough, he didn't want to over do it and grinned lightly at her, "So, what's your name, gigglebox?"
