The Obroa-Skai Archives
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello and welcome to the Archives, the single largest hotbed of information on pretty much anything in the galaxy.
For starters, head to this thread: Discussion Thread
Now, now that you've seen where you need to go to introduce your idea, and how to get it approved, here's what you need to do about this.
Essentially, each and every post is a single entry on one specific item, ability, faction, person, place, or power within the Star wars Galaxy. These entries must have the following:
Entry Number:
Status
Subject:
Capsule:
The entry Number. Simply, a number, depending on whichever entry it is. If my entry is the fifth entry, then it would be # 005.
The Status. Status can be one of two things: canon or fanon. Canon things are valid, true things within the Star Wars universe (such as Wookiees, lightsabers, or Jedi). Fanon entries are the opposite, being created by normal people such as ourselves, but having no precedent within the Star Wars media (such as your own custom Starcraft, etc.)
Subject. Essentially, the name of the entry, whether it's Wookiees, Luke Skywalker, or How To Build A Lightsaber.
Finally, Capsule. Simply make a new paragraph beneath here, and start typing you entry.
Identity: Incom T-65 X Wing
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Perhaps the most famous starfighter of all time, the Incom T-65 was the workhorse for the Rebel alliance, and later the New Republic.
Originally produced by Incom for the use of the Empire during the early days of the Galactic Civil War, the entire development staff behind the ship defected from their research base on Fresia, and joined the Alliance to Restore the Republic. By the time of the Battle of Yavin, the X-Wing was the most common starcraft owned by the Rebellion.
The direct descendant to the Z-95 Headhunter, the X wing is notable for it's four wings, also called S-foils that retract along its fuselage. Armed with a laser cannon on each wingtip, along with missle tubes in the nose, this fightercraft is capable of delivering a hard punch against enemy aircraft, without sacrificing defense or speed.
Well armed, the ship is also hyperspace-capable, able to make jumps on its own, with the help of an R2 unit, which fits into a socket behind the cockpit. While the range is not too extravagant, is does allow the craft to move about the galaxy without being escorted by larger carrier craft, such as Nebulon cruisers.
But, the X Wing is not what you would call an impressive craft. It is neither the fastest, most powerful, or even most hardy aircraft. as they say, "Jack of All trades, Master of None." While it is a capable craft in it's own right, it is not the Perfect Aircraft, as some have come to call it.
By 27 ABY, the T-65 had been officially replaced by the then-new XJ X-Wing, which in turn became obsolete by the Sith Imperial War in 127 ABY.
User Image
Produced by a little known Rim Based yard, the Sparrow was cranked out for service during the Sith Imperial War to serve as a fast, capable starfighter. Marketed to both sides of the war, it was ultimately turned down and ended up upon the civilian market, where it earned a following among Mercenaries and Pirates for it's speed, firepower, and low maintenance requirements.
The vessel bosts sturdy shields and an acceleration that will throw you out of the chair if you're not strapped down. The hull's not the best, but its capable of some pretty impresive maneuverability.
Firepower-wise, off the line she comes with a pair of high-powered laser cannons and a pair of Ion Cannons under the nose, allowing her to run down and paralize or pulverise her opponents.
She has a pair of Concussion Missle launchers with three missles for each tube, giving her some warhead punch for whatever the lasers dont kill.
Starwind Staryards also gave the ship an Astromech plug, allowing the pilot to focus on flying and shooting.
How does it stack against the Crossfire and the Predator you ask?
She's as fast as a predator, though not quite as maneuverable, and her weapons hit hard enough that she could down a crossfire if the Pilot keeps her away from the Crossfire's guns. So to sumarize: if the pilot keeps his head on a swivel, he can hold his own against the two more common fighters of the era.
User Image
The B-wing's latest incarnation comes to us by an independant Manufacturer. Verp Corp is , unsurprisingly, run primarily by Verpines, many who once worked for Slayn & Korpil.
More than a match for the Crossfire in sheer offensive firepower, the T-wing has two linked turbolaser cannons, a pair of linked high powered laser canons, a heavy ion cannon, Four six round concussion missle tubes near the cockpit, a pair of auto blasters in the nose, and a pair of heavy barium rocket launchers with a 9 rocket magazine for each launcher. In addition, she can mount four external hardpoint weapons under her primary S-foils. Thats a lot of firepower.
Its got a decent speed for such a big craft, but even with the rotating collar system it still turns and maneuvers like a sleepy hutt and requires a two man crew to control all the systems. Thick hull and powerful shields keep it in the air long enough for it to unload a galaxy of hurt on the target, but its still a wise idea not to leave 'em unescorted.
Despite being turned down by the GA and the Empire, the Bothans have purchased a suprising number of these ships and have purchased a Contract with Verp-corp for steady production of the T-wing, assuring its place in the galaxy.
Light, elegant, guranteed to wear well-the LS is a quality product from the Nubians. Its a blisteringly fast interceptor, capable of outrunning Predator fighters with ease and thus earning her the nickname "Rocket-sled".
She lacks in hull and shields, and she doesnt have a warhead launcher, but the firepower of her guns match that of a Twin-tail, so she's capable of taking down enemy craft.
Unlike most snubfighters, the X-83 features an astromech hardwired into the ship (usually an R2 or R4 model). This allows for the ship to overtime develop personality quirks, and can even have the droid anticipating the pilot, unless going through routine memory wipes.
All in all, a good ship.
Having only one engine, she does tend to be something of a hangar queen, requireing lots of regular maintenance to keep combat worthy.
But this is off set somewhat by her advanced targeting systems and her capablity in Atmosphere. Most starfighters cant keep up with it's aerobatic handeling in atmo, something that makes this a hot purchase for Planetary Defense Forces.
She's also very pretty.
A fearsome combat walker that has seen extensive use in the Imperial Military during the Sith/Imperial War, the AT-CT is a bipedal warmachine standing about two meters taller than an AT-ST.
With a crew of two and capable of carrying a passenger, its height on the battlefield and superior agility make it useful as a mobile command vehicle for front line officers.
The CT Carries a triple barreled laser canon on it's chin, a smoke grenade launcher, and an anti-armor Railgun on it's cheek. The Machine also has fairly good armor, capable of taking several stong hits without falling.
An Army moves on its stomach. This is the same no matter where you go. And thats why this particular piece of equipment is so vital throughout the galaxy. It carries the food. And the ammo, and the fuel, and the parts, and the medicne and about everything else.
The HT-74 is a durable, affordable, military cargo truck thats known for its incredible durability in the field. Capable of hauling around several tons of cargo from place to place in fairly short order, the vehicle is eqiuped with sturdy armor plating and a rotary blaster canon in an open air turret, allowing it to operate in combat contidions and even take a few hits.
The sturdyness of the design is legendary among military forces around the galaxy and for over twenty years it has reigned supreme among military ground transports. In a bewildering variety of climates, the HT-74 has operated steadily and reliably and can take some pretty impressive abuse from her handlers without a loss in performance.
This Vehicle is in frequent use among the Empire, the Galactic Alliance, and most military forces accross the galaxy. Aratech produces a variety of custom kits for it, including a sensortruck kit and both a treaded and wheeled modification kit that replaces the vehicle's sturdy repulsorlift hoverpods.
Theres even a Civilian version that comes without the turret gun.
The Pinacle of Armored Walker design, the AT-AD Earns its frightening moniker, as it is one of the most heavily armored and armed weapons on the battlefield.
Thicker, taller, and a good deal more heavily equipped than its predissesor the AT-AT, the AD functions as a mobile command post, siege engine, artillery platform, and troop transport.
The AD's primary weapons are the two huge Railguns attached to its sides. These guns, origionally designed to be mounted on star destroyers, are frighteningly efficient at decimating enemy fortifications and armor and do not rely on line of sight to target the enemy, thus giving them impressive range. Both Railguns have an anti arcraft missle moduel mounted on their rear, a precation against airspeeders and starfighters. The Twin auto blasters mounted in a turret on the chin allow it to engage with troublesome infantry too foolish to run away at the sight of this behemoth.
The armor is just shy of starship grade, and the joints are heavily armored to protect against infantry armed with missle tubes. This increased weight and armor gives the AD rather excellent stability. Destroyed AD's have an impressive tendancy to avoid collapsing or falling over, a testament to its sturdy nature.
All this weaponry and armor come at a cost however. The AT-AD is ponderously slow and cumbersome, lacking not only the AT-AT's flexible neck, but much of its agility as well. In addition, the unit is a rather expensive toy. It is rare to see any more than three of these deployed on the same battlefield at once. Anything that three AT-AD's can not take down is cause for a Base Delta Zero.
Entry Number: 008
Subject: CR-120 Corellian Corvette
Status: Fanon
Capsule:
After seeing the massive success of the CR 90 during the Galactic Civil War and after, CEC came up with newer models. The latest incarnation easily holds its own in a modern galaxy.
The vessel was designed to fit the empty role of anti-starcraft in the greater galaxy. Masive carriers and their wings and Gladius-frigates were the common tool, but there was nothing small enough to maneuver between frigates and ships, and still be able to accurately attack fighters AND fight larger ships at the same time. The CR 120 is just that. Standard crew is 8 officers and 36 enlisted, though this can be as high as 30 officers and 180 enlisted. Passenger room is 600 persons at most. Length is 240 meters, with 30 meters at its skinniest and nearly 180 at its widest.
The basic design follows a short, stubby bow similar to star destroyers, but with wings and a tail-end covering the thirteen identical engines. The initial design carries little armament itself, but the manufacturers installed no less than 30 hardpoints onto these babies, earning the nickname "Multi-Task." Because of this feature, there are virtually hundreds of weapons configurations for the ship, depending on the model and role.
A military model has this typical weapons configuration:
- 10 Class-9 Turbolasers
- 5 Class-8 Laser Cannons
- 5 Class-6 Ion Cannons
- 10 Class-8 Missle Tubes
This is fairly standard. All military models come with basic shielding, armor, and hyperdrive, as well as a Point-Defense system. Due to customization though, upgrading is fairly easy for a group of mechanics.
Hangar room is limited to space for a shuttle. Shields strength is fairly good for a ship it's size, but its crown jewel is the engines. This baby can crank it up to 2500 MGs with all weapons blazing and hold the course for hours on end. Full throttle, she clocks at 3000 MGs in space, and 2300 MGs in atmosphere when stripped down. Combined with a fast .8 hyperdrive and this, she can literally fly circles around everything else.
Of course, there are drawbacks. Using such thrust strains the systems, can cause overheating, and generally diverts power away from weapons to the engines, and can even cut life-support if pushed too hard. Thus, ideal speed is limited to a max of 2750 MGs before straining occurs.
The ship also suffers from weak armor, especially in the thin center, where the ship has proven to be blown in half by strong enough turbo-lasers or missles.
Even still, these short-comings are minor, at best. When you can fly this fast, alter the ship for a variety of missions and facilities, and can even punch holes in Destroyers in small groups, you don't have much to worry about. Properly equipped, these could even strangle frigates such as Wombat IIs and Gladiuses, which are eternally bound to their components.
Thus, this is the vessel to own. They're small, fast, bite hard, cheap, and easy to come by. Every known major organization has at least one, if not a hundred of these, and many are popping up in the hands of crime rings and mercenary gangs. Parts are in extreme surplus, there's no lack of the ship, and when you can arm a ship this small almost as much as a vehicle twice its size, who needs anything else?
*NOTE- Straight out of the factory, these ships have ONLY hardpoints. Shields, engines, hyperdrive, life support, and the computer. That's it. You must buy and install your own weapons.
Its big, its ugly, and it has enough firepower to make you regret saying anything about it's personal apearance.
The Crossfire is a descendent of both the X-wing and the heavier fighters of the New Republic and Galactic Alliance. With a hull and shield that would make an enemy pilot weep and with Four big laser cannons arranged to converge infront of it (Hence the name crossfire) in addition to it's Ordinace payload, the Crossfire isnt something to take lightly and came as a suprise to many Predator pilots used to holeing the Civilian x-83 Twintail in combat.
Her folding wings give her a surprising amount of agility, but she's not exactly a Predator's match in speed. Infact, she's not exactly a Twintail's match in speed either.
After several incarnations, the Empire comes to witness its third flagship class. First was the Executor-class behemoths, spanning over ten miles long and with enough power to annihalate a fleet of star destroyers. Next was the Eclipse-class, even larger, with a massive bow and hyperdrive with enough momentum to ram straight through a fleet without being hurt at all, and enough firepower to take on a fleet without help, not to mention a turbolaser 1/20 the power of the Death Star's.
The Pellaeon-class, named after Gillad Pellaeon himself, is a fine ship, and serves with the fortitude that Mith'raw'naurudo's pupil had. Though not nearly as long as an Executor, this ship is twice as tall, putting it at 8 miles long, and 3/4 of a mile at its highest point. The ship boasts six smaller engines and one massive engine, giving it about the same power as the Executor with less add-on. A Pellaeon is at least as power as an Executor, and with modern technology, this ship can easily take on a dozen Nebula-class Star Destroyers.
Crew is approximated 200,000, with a Class 1.7 hyperdrive, and capable of 2500 G- a massive improvement. There are estimated 4000 quad, twin and regular turbolasers, as well as 400 ion cannons, and 600 missile launchers. Ships carry enough consumables for 3 years, and carry a minimum of 1000 squadrons of 7 Predators (7000), 500 squadrons of 4 bombers (2000), 20 AT-ATs, 40 AT-STs, 80 TIE-ap1's, and 10,000 stromtroopers. The hangars can be retrofitted to also carry additionally either four Tartan-class Corvettes and an additional 100 squadrons of 7 Predators (700) and 25 squadrons of 4 bombers (100) OR 30 AT-ATs, 50 AT-STs, 50 TIE-ap1's, and 30,000 stormtroopers. By default, the ship carries enough Lambdas to bring all of this to the ground, and then some.
If one decides to believe the Pellaeon is the modern SSD, estimations put it at a Class 1 or better hyperdrive. Well over 100 turbolasers dot the ship, while the status of barbette cannons is still unknown, though 8 would be possible. at least 20 ion cannons and 10 tractor beams are on the ship. The thing could store 2 wings of predator fighters, while still maintaining enough crew to deploy for a land invasion.
The Galactic Alliance's answer to the Pellaeon Star Destroyer, the Scythe-class is a tough, hard hiting ship that makes up the spine of the G.A.'s Core Forces.
Only a Third the size of a Pellaeon and far more maneuverable, the Sythe-class can fight a Pellaeon and anything smaller to a draw.
Built from a Mon Cal design, the Scythe was armed with not only a standard compliment of cannon, but her Blade shaped Wing also held fighter launchbays and a collection of Capital grade Proton Torpedo launchers, allowing this vessel to serve multiple ruoles, from Command Ship, to Carrier, to Missle Cruiser, all without a change in the ship's configuration.
A dangerous combatant in its own right, the Scythe is even more dangerous given the fact that at one time the G.A. were cranking out huge numbers of these. Despite losses during the Sith-Imperial war, the Galactic Alliance's Core Forces still posseses enough of these ships to make the Sith Empire wary about engaging them again.
And you thought the Y-wing was slow, tough, and well armed....
Enter the BTS-A2 Long-Range Strike Fighter/Bomber, Most often reffered to as the "H-wing".
The H-wing was used in limited amounts by the Rebel AllianceDue to it's high purchase cost, Crew intensive maintenance requirements, and the fact it had trouble fitting in most Rebel fighter hangars.
Nonetheless, this was one bad bird.
Armwise, the B-wing barely manages to outgun it. The H-wing has two torpedo tubes with an eight torpedo magazine each. When necessary, this could be swapped out for a Proton Bomb bay much like the Y-wing's Munition system. In Addition it sported two fire-linked ion cannons in the Starboard control pod. The Main gun of the H-wing was a heavy laser cannon mounted in a turret. Thats right, a turreted heavy laser cannon.
She needed it too, because this ship was going no where fast. Even the B-wing was faster and more maneuverable. The Y-wing may move like a sleepy Hutt, but the H-wing moves like a Hutt's corpse. She does have her own hyperdrive and nav system, class 1 too. She also had good shields, hull, and Sensors.
She needed a crew of three to fly, one pilot, two gunners. For long space trips it had a rather cramped and underfurnished bunk. Bad news flyboys: No ejection seats. So wear your space suits.
As prieviously stated, the H-wing was an expensive bird to fly. Rebel HQ could by almost any two single seater fighters for the price of one H-wing. The H-wing saw limited service and was quickly replaced by the B-wing, relegating the huge fighter to anti-commerce roles and starfighter screening for transports. By the Vong invasion, only pirates and mercs were using them.
Let me tell you he story of the best little Starfighter never made.
It was called the Preybird, and if it werent for internal politics within the Company it would have made a killing.
Literally.
Essentialy a heavy 2 man Starfighter, the Preybird was equiped with a pair of real big laser cannons and two concussion missle launchers, one front one facing aft.
It had a stout hull, shields and can hype in and out of a system. Granted the hyperdrive was only Class three and the Nav Computer could hold only 5 jumps. Nonetheless it was also a fairly fast and maneuverable fighter.
The problem with it? It cost more to make for the Sullustians than what they were selling 'em for. This was due in large part to Imperal restrictions on non human owned corporations. The Empire wasnt fond of such a Nifty fighter being available on the open market. They buired it in red tape, something I'm sure they felt awkward about when, durring the pre-Vong years of the Reminant, they were forced to use pirate made copies of these ships.
The fringe community is real fond of these ships. Sorosuub models however are hard to come by since they made only a handful so more likely than not if you find one, you're gonna be looking at a knock off.
Trust me though, this baby is one sweet bird.
