A brown pelted strange feline slowly made her way threw the tall yellowish grass. Her ears pinned to her skull, with a rather irritated look upon her leopardish face. Her body was slightly slender like a cheetahs, yet she resembled a leopard most. Something that always had got her angry. She wasn't one who liked leopards much. In fact, she hated them with a passion and would do anything to hurt one. But that was a long story.

Her red eyes scanned the area looking for anything that might interest her. Though, with the little bit of trees she saw nothing really. But she wasn't looking too hard. She'd rather be alone anyways. The last time she tried to trust other feline creature, they deserted her. She had a bit of a problem with being abandoned now.

Her pelt had markings upon her left side, and on her head was a cream colored star mostly hidden from her hair fluff. She wasn't that big, but she wasn't small either. Her being almost full grown now. Her tail was as thick as a leopards, but it was as long as a cheetahs. Making her look rather odd. She had no direction in mind, so she was just wondering aimlessly.

It had started out a good day and had stayed that way so far. Slept late, dreamed well, basking in the sun. Shu had awoken not far from a small waterhole and having fed very well recently, only needed a quick drink and a quick groom to be ready to head out. His mother Soo had taught her son well and he'd taken well to his wandering life as a temporary rogue. One day he'd go back to the Swamps but really, Shu was in no rush. He rarely was.

His fur was not the softer silvery colour of his mother but a darker gun metal colour mostly. At night it helped a little to hide him but during a day like this, he stood out more as he waded through the long yellowed grass. If Jishin looked his way he'd be easy to see and even easier was to hear him. The adolescent wasn't sneaking at all just wandering along - he wasn't hunting and had no reason as far as he knew to expect an attack 'cos luckily he wasn't a leopard!

He was still dreaming somewhat or he might have noticed the unusual female wandering the same stretch as he was. Shu took life so easy sometimes...~

Jishin didn't see the other yet. For she was still busy glaring at nothing in front of her. She saw most things as a waste of space, pathetic, and just useless. Though, sometimes things showed use for her. Most would find her boring, or rude, though she really didn't give a crap. If they didn't like her, it meant that she wouldn't have to deal with them. It was when they decided they wanted to be her friend that got annoying.

Her fur wasn't like her fathers, in fact, she was the oddest out of her siblings. Her colors didn't resemble her parents. Her father was a cream white cheetah, with a star marking upon his four head and rainbow head fluff. Where her mother was a black leopard with green markings. The only thing about her that suggested that she was related to any of them was her star, which came from her father, and the marking on her left side which came from her mother.

Though, it wasn't like she didn't care that she didn't look like them. In fact, she was happy about it. She could lie to anyone she wanted. Say she didn't know who her parents where. Though, that didn't make her like leopards. She flicked her tail again. Finally noticing a bit of movement in the corner of her eye. As she saw a huge gray mass that might have been easily mistaken for a rock. Of course it wasn't really moving much, but the wind moved his fur enough for Jishin to realize that it was another creature, and not a rock.

As well as she could see his red and white upon him. Not much, but just enough. Great... Just what she needed. Her ears pinned tightly to her head again. He had probably already seen her, so she started directly towards him instead of wondering off. At least maybe he could tell her where she was. "Excuse me." she said with a cold voice. "Might you be able to tell me where we are?"

"Hmm?" He looked up as another creature approached him - it took him a minute to realise what kind of creature, though he didn't let his brief puzzlement show on his face. Hybrids were viewed as abominations in his home pride and while he'd been brought up to be tolerant and polite to any beast (even if they spoke coldly) he couldn't help that in his heart of hearts he was repelled by them. Imagine, a cheetah and a leopard....he was pretty sure that was her parentage, from a swift glance at her build. Not quite one, not quite the other. Must be a hybrid.

But then he had another reason to be a bit more tolerant than most Jini-msemi about hybrids. His father after all had always said his true love was another male and Shu and his sisters had been the result of him helping a friend. There were those thought that those that loved their own gender were as disgusting and unnatural as he'd been taught hybrids were.

These thoughts rushed through his head quickly. But to Jishin though he just offered a wan smile and an answer to her question.

"We're in the free rogue lands between prides and packs and groups at the moment. If you look that way - " He pointed with a paw " - you can see a smudge on the horizon. That's Priderock and someways beyond that is the sea. And that's the Unity Walker jungle near us and when that runs out there's a great lake. Does that help you?"

Well, shoot, She had no clue where she was even with him telling her. She frowned, this wasn't very good at all. She watched his paw point to the smudge in the distance. She'd not go there. Why would she? Her tail lashed about irritatedly. "No, not to the least." She told him with her same rude voice as always.

She looked upon herself as a abomination. Only because of others around herself. She wished she was a cheetah or a lion. Though, she looked more leopard then anything. "I suppose, I'm just lost all together." She said. She had no problem with admitting she was lost, just if she needed help in any way. She'd just have to go back the way she came, and she'd know where she was again. But she didn't want to go back that way. Maybe a different direction. She never wanted to see her family again. Or at least most of them.

"Was there anywhere you were trying to get to? If so I might know which way to point you in - I've been on the road myself a long while and know most of the larger area." From sea to desert to jungle on the search for a new name and to loose his woes while he was at it. He had many good days and found rogue life easy...but some things just bothered him. Today had started off good but so far this brief meeting had given him much food for thought and reminded him of what annoyed him.

"Older than I look." He shrugged a shoulder, clearly trying to be polite but not in the best of moods. He only said so to help back up his claim to some knowledge of how things lay but his eyes hardened at the thought. Shu had not long since learnt that he'd inherited the curse of his father and the god who was his grandsire. To be forever young, to always be an adolescent and to never grow old or into a full mane.

Sound good? Sounded like crap to him. Even if he found an adult name, he'd never be an adult, not physically anyway. He'd look like a youth until the day he died.

She thought about that. Where was she trying to get to? She hadn't a clue and gave a shrug. "Away from everything behind me." was the only answer she could really give that was truthful for on where she was going. She was told to go a certain way to find a place, but she totally forgot what it had been.

Jishin raised a brow at him, wondering what that had to do with anything other then he might know the land better then say, someone else around his age. To her, he was around her age, or a bit older. Though she wasn't sure how lions grew. She wasn't about to press anything father on that subject though. "I will find my way, once I figure out where I want to go." She said to him. "Is there any good places around her to get a drink?" She asked.

"Sounds fair enough." Shu said without judgement but also without much interest. Had she not been a hybrid -and she obviously was even though she looked mostly like a leopard - he might have cared more. But she was blunt and a hybrid so beyond being polite for a while he wasn't really interested is where she was going.

"I visited one directly that way that was clean and fresh. You should be able to find a good drink there." He nodded in the direction from which he'd come, where he'd woken up without a care. Now his mind was full of worries and thoughts again. Started off a good day....now it hadn't stayed that way.

Well, at least she knew where some water was. She watched the other abit. His attitude changed slightly, but she was use to that. Having many others find her quite rude and unpleasant, then others who have shunned her for being what she was. Only if she was a cheetah, things would be so much better. Or if she was a lion. Pure bred creatures made her slightly jealous at times. Being a hybrid was bad enough, but even worse about the leopard part.

"Well, thank you." She spoke, not knowing what else to actually say to the other. Though, she felt strange saying thank you too. She sat there for a moment or two. "Well, I guess I'll be headed that way." She spoke and looked the way he had pointed. Seemed like a good way to go. She just hopped it wasn't in any pride. Wouldn't really be the best if it was.

"That's alright. Good journey to you." Shu said, and then forgot about being polite. He wanted away and he wanted to go now, so with a brisk nod goodbye he started to walk. The way he'd been headed and the opposite way to where she was going - the way she'd come in fact.

Maybe he could salvage this day again if he tried...

Jishin just rolled her shoulder. An uncomfortable moment was almost over with. Before moving, she stopped. "This way isn't into any pride, right?" She had to make sure. A little less rudeness there. She couldn't really be rude all the time. Right now was more important to know if it was a pride she's walking blind in or not. He had already started to head away from her, but she hoped he'd catch her last question before going fully about his way. Even if he was probably rather frustrated with her presence.

"No, is clear for quite a while. You don't hit the next pride for a day or two's steady travel and they're not a bad sort. If you cross their border by accident they'd probably just help with directions." Shu stopped and half turned, answering. He paused and offered a smile that didn't reach his eyes - anything else?

Because if not, Shu would be gone in a flash.

"Thanks again." She said satisfied as much as she could be with his answer. At least he knew the land well around here. She didn't know if she should trust him though, but what else was she to? She started off in the way that he had told her. Another chapter in her life that she'd probably never care to remember. -end?-
