DYK, Yngwie has a unique guitar made in which you press down on the strings harder to determine the tone that it has. His strings were never 'bent.' The grooves in his guitar between the frets allowed him to get the same kind of sound without slowing his playing to bend the strings!
I thought that was pretty crazy.

I SAW THAT!!!! he must have mad skillz to be able to control his pitch like that at the speeds he plays at. http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0107112841his signature strat from fender's website. also his tremelo is a floater. (meaning he can yank it back to raise the pitch as well as drop it for the ppl who don't know guitar lingo)

I actually managed to get my hands on a grooved fret guitar the other day. Seriously different from your classic ungrooved neck. I felt like I did the first time I ever picked up a guitar. SERIOUSLY out matched. sweatdrop Have you ever played one Viper?

Oh yeah. More details on Yngwie. His style spawns from violin tech. He took his guitar and played in the same style in which he was playing his violin. ERGO The Yngwie sound.

no, never played a groved fretted guitar, but i figured he was clasicly trained from the first time i herd him.
somehow u can always tell.
Hindrex = Violist Eddie Van Halen = Chellest Malmsteen = Violin
lol, bring hindrex back from the dead and bring in john paul jones on double bass and u'll have a string quartet.
i'll tell u though, my 4 yrs as a violist helped ALOT when i started playing guitar.

I've always wanted to learn violin, I just focus so much on guitar, that I never really give myself the chance.

its well worth the chance, if you are taught by a proficiant teacher your knoledge of scales will become second nature, fingering will become easyer, u'll be slightly more quordinated, i notesed a great improvement in my ear as well.
you will tune your guitar better because u will be able to pick out the sloghtly flat and sharp notes and corect them(i found my Ibanez has a tuneing problem, when i have super slinks on it everytrhing 12 fret and above is a little flat, guess u adjust the neck to fix that)
course, thats after 2 or 3 yrs of playing said instrument, but they are beautifull things to play when you get into it.
and i picked up quite a few licks that i've adjusted to play on guitar.
its realy quite fun.

HE is amazing to say the least he basically takes classical music and then supercharges it! the speed at which he plays is great too! but im really amazed at what he does with that acoustic guitar at the G3 in Denver!
stressed god its gonna take alot of practise to be able to play like that...
