Hey there, Monochrome--

Introduction

Welcome to Cara's journal! You've probably wandered here out of boredom, curiosity, or the odd chance that you actually want to read up on the character. Either way, there are a few rules to go by, and as long as you go by them, you'll do just fine.

- NO POSTING - At least not without the permission of FKT. Dropping off gifts/letters/hate mail is fine in-character, just please let me know first in case I needed to save a few posts first.

- NO ART THEFT - Honestly, guys. Not hard to understand.

- PLOT YAY--NO ASKY, NAY - FKT is a notorious plotter, and would be happy to interact with your character, provided she's not busy. However, she doesn't want to see anyone claiming to have some sort of backstory/future with Cara when they obviously don't. Plotting is a two-way street.

- NO CHARACTER, NO SHOES, NO SERVICE - Cara is strictly of the FFA universe, which means she can not rp with your loli-shota rainbow unicorn from Gaia. Sorry. Force-users only.

How've you been?

Biography

Name: Cara "Monochrome" Ydell
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Alignment: Sith
Age: 26 years of age, though could pass off for being somewhat younger.
Homeplanet: Chandrila
Previous occupation/training: Cargo pilot for a "bacta lord"-- referring to those who buy and sell bacta. Cara had originally done some training on her father's XJ3 X-Wing for the purpose of being a fighter pilot, but as she got older, she stuck stricktly to handling cargo.

Appearance: Cara gets the nickname "Monochrome" largely from her plain coloration: black hair, trimmed to a bob cut, grey eyes, (she claims there's some Nagai in her from about eight generations back) and lightly freckled skin from her years in the sun. The other reason she warrants such a name is her choice in clothing: usually, it's in muted, neutral tones, if not entirely grey. Somewhat pear-shaped in figure, she compensates for being bottom-heavy by wearing layered jackets over thinning pants. At 5' 2", she's on the short side, but it fits well with her occupation. Most noticable on her is a long, roughly wedge-shaped scar running from the left side of her forehead, around her eye, and ending at her cheekbone, her eyebrow missing where the scar tissue crosses over it.

Personality: If nothing else, Cara is friendly upon first impression, laid back and amicable to most people, young or old, human or otherwise. It's when you cross her that you get a taste of her Chandrilan stubbornness; harsh and hardly willing to forgive. In between these two extremes, Cara is known for a hearty sense of humor and sarcastic wit, but only in front of her peers: after handling numbers of deals where personal nature meant as much to the buyer as the product itself, she has learned to remain on the conservative side of conversation with those to whom she's had little acquaintance. Keeping a cool, distant exterior during these meetings, Cara nevertheless craves the company of others, and should she get bored enough (a frequent occurance), she is not afraid to seek comradery out, even if the potential friend is less than willing. For being Force-sensitive, Cara is not always the best at reading people.

Considering her family background, it would have been easy for Cara to be spoiled, and once upon a time she was, but since then, she's become more humbled by her line of work. Needless to say, she still believes in certain basic comforts, and while her needs are neither many nor expensive, should she be denied them Cara becomes a rather cranky person.

How she acts in a situation depends on her contextual knowledge beforehand: if she's never had to deal with that sort of thing before, she's all ears to help, and is more than willing to let someone take the lead. However, should she find herself in a comfort zone, Cara takes charge, with little forgiveness to anyone attempting to snub her authority. Her leadership comes like that of a benevolent dictator--working towards the good of the group, but it's ultimately her word or a pistol-whip to the face. Whether leader or follower, Cara has a strong drive to help towards the final goal, and her biggest fear is being useless (and by extension, worthless).

Lightsaber: Synthetic crystal, red hue, standard hilt with a pressure sensor and Electrum trim (salvaged from the Old Jedi Order, so somewhat dimmed).

I hope you haven't forgotten us all now that you're some big shot.

History

Cara was born to a well-off family in the Chandrila, and for the first decade of her life, never left the spacious grassy plains that made up the Ydell family estate. On the occasion, her temper would flare, and something would fall over, but largely her use of the Force was limited as a child. It was in pre-adolescence that Cara was thrust into the world of her father's, and the reason behind their family's success. For generations, the Ydells had partnered with a bacta merchant, piloting the precious cargo or aiding in recon, and in return, the wealth of the bacta lord Zek Dulon helped fund their extensive land, any of their needs, and most importantly, their safety and comfort after serving a few years under his operations. Male or female, all of the Ydell children spent at least five-years on board, so when Cara turned twelve, she began practicing in his X-Wing, and by the time she was seventeen, she was flying off to Dulon, ready to join his defense force in case of a rival bacta lord attack.

She adapted to ship life fairly well, and became fast friends with a Corellian recruit named Xero Finnik. Their relationship was an odd one: she saw him as the brother she left at home, and he wanted to get in her pants. The thing they had in common was a lot of youth, stubbornness, and an outright competitiveness to outdo the other, whether onboard the ship or on a recon mission. It was on one of these such recon missions that Cara went a bit too far: racing through the underground piping system during an escape, she made a daring leap to get herself of Xero. It worked a little too well, and whether it was from unconscious use of the Force or simple maneuvering, she made a literal head-on collision with a low-strung pipe, smashing it open and cutting across her face. Of course, in an industry where you deal with a practical panacea, such a thing wouldn't be a problem. However, when they applied bacta on her forehead and she began to scream about a burning sensation, it was discovered that Cara was allergic to bacta, and would have to heal this and any other injury on her own.

If she'd been any other recruit, Zek Dulon would have taken her off the ship for liability purposes. But, being a Ydell and a valued pilot with few to spare, it was negotiated that Cara would simply serve a longer term doing strictly safe missions, taking the cargo from secure location to secure location. The prospect of being bored on a ship for ten years angered her, and she spent the free time previously used for her work venting in the gym, driving herself to be a better candidate so that Dulon might let her do more around the place. However, nothing worked, and her frustration grew, until finally one day she went to hit her punching bag, and before she made contact, it swung off its hinges and slammed into the nearest wall. It was then that Cara knew that something was fishy.

It was Xero that came up with the idea that she was channeling the Force, but Cara wanted to hear none of it, stubborn to a fault in that it was simply a fluke. Once it seemed undeniable, however, Cara finally relented, and agreed to a midichlorian blood test. It came back positive, if not amazingly so, and thus, she put her efforts into researching and developing her skills. She attempted the Jedi way at first, but found that she worked better under the Sith, and despite the negative connotation, continued to practice. She had a year left of her term when she was contacted by the new School, but Zek let her off, knowing that she had a brother on the way onboard.

Even if your Force powers are pretty cool...

Attunement to the Force

- Using Physical Force -

Most of Cara's training dealt with the physical, so as far as lifting things and tossing them halfway across the planet, she's covered. However, the more delicate the action is, the more concentration Cara needs to do it (i.e. She'd have an easier time of pushing someone into a wall than picking up a knife and cutting a piece of fruit).

- Weapons Training -

Cara is in fairly good shape, though her short stature keeps her from wrestling Wookies or anything of that nature. That being noted, she's a decent shot with a blaster, and her lightsaber skills are quickly improving.

- Piloting -

Where better for Cara to learn how to use the Force than in her own occupation? Subconsciously, she uses the Force to enhance her reaction times and overall piloting skills while in the cockpit.

- Mind Tricks -

In this aspect of the Force, Cara is severely lacking. Granted, she can manage emotion projection and sensing if she herself is in emotional turmoil, but her use of thought manipulation is limited at best, and she's yet to zap anyone with lightning, despite hours of awkward heroic looking poses with her fingers outstretched.

...I still think you're a better pilot.

Possessions

- Various jackets, undershirts, and pants, mostly in shades of grey
- A good, servicable pair of boots that Cara wears with just about anything
- Official robes for official business (as of yet only used as bathrobes)
- Lightsaber
- Datapad
- An X-Wing, though being stored on Chandrila, she doesn't have access to it

Make any new friends?

Acquaintances

Jedi Master Sva-La - (7/10) - Well, if she's a Master, she's got to have an amazing connection to the Force. I have a lot of respect for her.

Sith Master Char Lan-gui - (6/10) - Like Master Sva-La, I have a lot of respect for him, but I don't feel the same type of trust that I have for Sva-La, even though I'm a Sith myself. Is that a bad thing?

Anastasia Zerthos - (4/10) - It's not that I don't like her -- I think she's great -- I just don't think she likes me much at all. D: I'm supposed to be good with kids.
