I think that my first violin teacher said that I have perfect pitch.

My second teacher said it, and I didn't even know what it was!

Perfect pitch? If you mean 'absoluuttinen s䶥lkorva' = absolut tone-ear, meaning you can know any note from just hearing it, I have that. Is that what English people call it? surprised

Yes I think so...when I said I had an ábsolute hearing', because I didn't know the English word, someone of gaia said me it's named 'perfect pich'.

I'm not but i really like to listen anything and say which tone is, songs, noises in street, this makes you have a better hear, i think...

I don't envy you guys; especially on the violin, perfect pitch can be terrible. Doesn't it hurt when someone plays F flat different from E, or A sharp higher than B flat?

I don't have perfect pitch, but if you sing a note, I can sing one octave below it.

Now what is THAT? eek

I don't have perfect pitch. I'd love it though. Maybe I'd actually make it into districts.

i have perfect pitch, but i had to work hard for it. I obtained it from being in concerts a lot, and since i have been concert master most of my life, (hehe), i played the A a lot...so eventually i would have that note stuck in my head for weeks! it drove me insane. Then i realised that their are different tone colors you can associate with notes to find them. At first it was difficult, and i could only find an A (from concerts) and a C# (from Moonlight Sonata...dont ask why lol ) Now i can find all notes after a long journey of finding my perfect pitch. Anyone can do it. some say you have to be born with it but that is not true...ANYONE can learn it.

By "knowing the note", does that mean if any one note is played, you should be able to say what letter note that is?

Or do you mean that if it is played, you'll be able to play it without seeing or knowing the note?

it means that you can, both, hear the note and recognize it by name...and also sing a certain note that you want to without hearing anything beforehand
