Name: Teasel

Gender: Male

Species: Ewok

Alignment: Jedi

Age: Due to his upbringing, Teasel's age is an approximation since no real records were kept that he is aware of. He is a fully mature adult Ewok, probably about the human equivalent of early to mid twenties.

Homeplanet: Endor and Svivren

Previous occupation/training: (See History for more detail) Prior to making his way to the Temples, Teasel resided on Svivren with a large extended "family" that primarily did metalwork. He assisted where he was needed, eventually more or less becoming their errand boy of sorts which allowed him a great deal of freedom to roam about the marketplace and become reasonably skilled with trading and haggling. It was on Svivren that he met Siir Sunb, who became a close friend and mentor and taught him the ways of the Force.

Appearance: Teasel is approximately one meter tall, diminuitive and furry like all of his kind. His fur is a warm grey tone with cream and light caramel toned highlights, most notably on his forearms/hands and calves/feet.

Like most of his kind, he doesn't wear a great deal of clothing. He wears a hood typical to the Ewok race in a shade of hunter green and a sort of utility belt with a couple of pouches and a place for his lightsaber. He likes trinkets and will hang feathers, teeth, bones, coins and any number of things from his hood with bits of leather thong. (X) He will also adopt a Jedi's hooded robe at times.

Personality: Teasel is a fearless warrior, though he prefers more of a sneak-attack method. He is inherently curious and it can often get him into trouble, as he doesn't have the greatest comprehension of mechanical things. (Though his understanding does surpass many of his kin who still dwell on Endor and he learns quickly.) But his curiosity leads him down unusual roads and he'll never dismiss a theory out of hand. He loves to go on long rambling discussions and debates over all sorts of arcane and random topics and he seems to be able to get on with and talk to anyone, so long as they don't immediately dismiss him due to his species.

Jolly and a prankster, he's the sort to leave a whoopie cushion on someone's chair and then think it's the most brilliant form of hilarity when they sit on it. He's fairly easy to get along with, extremely good tempered (if you can put up with the juvenile pranks) though he does lean towards stubborn once he's put his mind to something. Despite the calm near-emotionless demeanor credited to the Jedi, at this stage Teasel still shows a great deal of emotion (mostly humor). Perhaps, with further training, that will change. Perhaps not... A lot of his sense of humor comes from exposure to his mentor.

Ewok society focuses greatly on family ties, and Teasel is no different. His family, however, will become the Jedi and thus he will treat them with the same close protectiveness he would offer his blood kin. He is particularly fond of the younglings. (perhaps because they can appreciate his sense of humor?)

Though he didn't spend a great deal of his life on his native Endor, he is still skilled at forest survival techniques, "roughing it" easily. He brings to the table an inherent knowledge of nature and how to blend into it and survive in it with balance and ease.

Strightforward, he sometimes has difficulty with the politics that are involved with peaceful negotiations, wanting more to prod someone irritably when things aren't going well. Despite that, he believes in the practice of peaceful negotiation before bashing someone's head in, so he does his best and tries very hard to keep his mouth shut when appropriate. This is a trait that will improve with more exposure to the formal Jedi community. He's very good with haggling and bargaining, though, and can strike a swift deal.

Lightsaber: Teasel fights with a Shoto style lightsaber (at least, I'm terming it as a shoto, size-wise, though it's used as his primary blade. So the terminology may be off.) with a green Adegan crystal for a green blade. The hilt of his lightsaber is smaller than average to fit his child-sized hands, it is coppery bronze in color and seems like it would be a bit bulky. However, it fits him perfectly.

History: Teasel is the second son of a second son. Though his father was priveleged to wear the blue wings of strength, Teasel was not the son of a tribe leader. His parents had only one wokling, Teasel was an only child. His father, a distinguished tribal warrior for their clan, was killed when Teasel was young and his mother decided after that to move off-world. It's not clear wether she merely had a heart for adventure or wether there was another, darker reason that she chose to leave their homeworld. Whatever her reason was, she took her young son and made the move to Svivren where she had family.

On Svivren, Teasel was thrust into a busy trading community full of various life-forms. As such, he grew up speaking both his native Ewokese (primarily at home and within the community) and Basic. The "family business" (that is, the business of the massively extended family that he and his mother now lived with) revolved around metallurgy, primarily forging trinkets and gadgets that they sold and traded. Several of the "aunts" and "uncles" had attended the Svivren Xenomineralogy Institute, and they did the main share of the work while the rest did more minor tasks. Teasel's primary job evolved from sweeping and cleaning to, as he grew older, running more and more complicated errands.

As his exposure to the Svivreni culture and society grew, he developed a great affinity for the Sullustans. Most notably, he grew to be very good friends with a jolly and shrewd Sullustan by the name Siir Sunb. An old Jedi, Siir Sunb made most of his living those days as a merchant, trading primarily in medical supplies to make a living. A great practical joker himself, Teasel gained a lot of his personality quirks from his new mentor, including his ability to take anyone of any race and adopt them as part of his "family".

Once it was made clear that Teasel was force-sensitive and the proper tests were conducted, Siir Sunb (admittedly excited by the prospect of having someone to train and stretch his real Jedi muscles again) took it upon himself to teach young Teasel the ways of the Force. Since personal weapons were forbidden on Svivren, when the time came for weapons training they had to go far out into farm country to get a little practice in. And so Teasel's weapons training was a little lacking. But his knowledge of the more cerebral aspects of the Force went very well. He'd often take it upon himself to "practice" while he was haggling in the marketplace, something that his mentor would likely dissaprove of on principal and laugh about in private. Teasel also picked up a basic knowledge of Sullustese from his mentor.

And thus was life... working with his family, learning a little bit of metallurgy and a little bit of trading here and there... Training with his mentor and father-figure... It was good. It was fulfilling. Teasel was a happy little furball for a very long time.

Eventually he reached adulthood. And eventually he had learned all his mentor had to teach him and had become as adept with the force as was possible. He was skilled and he was confident. Eventually, too, his beloved Siir Sunb passed away and Teasel felt rather adrift after that. He continued living and working with his family, he continued excercising the Force, but something in him felt dissatisfied for the first time in his life. There was just something... missing. So when he heard through marketplace gossip about the re-established Jedi/Sith system, he said farewell to his family (with many emotions and a Very Big Feast) and packed his few meager belongings, including the shoto lightsaber that Siir Sunb had left him, and made his way to the Jedi temple, hoping for acceptance. Hoping to ease that restlessness within him.

Prompt A:
"Jedi!" Istar tutted, brushing road dust off her son's hood and clucking a bit under her breath. They were a close family, and the whispers spread quickly. Soon the whole room was buzzing with whispers and good-natured chuckles as the bright eyes of a dozen or so Ewoks turned towards the Teasel, who stood just inside the doorway, unsure wether or not he was about to get defensive. "And whats gotten into your head that you can be a Jedi, you?" His mother demanded.

"Siir Sunb, what runs the medicine stall what carries the cheapest bacta salve. He tested my..." Teasel searched a moment for the unfamiliar word his friend had used. "My midi-chlorians." The proper term found, he puffed his chest out proudly. "He says I have a high count. He says he'll train me, he does!"

"Jedis! Nothing but street preformers and magicians, they!" Came a good natured voice from the background. "And who ever heard of an Ewok training up as a Jedi? We work metal here, we. We dont dabble about with the Force."

"It's not dabbling..." Furry little arms crossed themselves over an equally furry little chest. Teasel knew that his extended family had his best interests at heart. And he knew they teased, not out of malice but out of love and, possibly, concern. "I'll be a great Jedi Knight, I! Just see if I dont!" Big eyes sought his mother's gaze. It was really her blessing that he wanted. And anyways, with her blessing the rest of them would bless him too. His expression, bright and trembling with excitement at the prospect of being Jedi (a concept which held all of it's ancient splendor, entirely untainted by present circumstances and fed on tales of old) had it's desired effect.

"My son, the Jedi!" Istar said, clapping her fuzzy hands together. "My son, I am so proud, you! You will train, yes. But you tell that Sullustan that your first duty is to your family. You tell him you have work to do before you can go and train with him, you."

It was in that moment, surrounded by the cheerful noise of his family muttering doubts and shouting congratulations and jests, that Teasel's fate truly was decided. He couldn't wait to tell Siir!

Some hours later, he finally made his way out of the house and to the marketplace. Entering the little shop that his friend ran, he didn't bother to pause to knock the dust from his feet or to look around for customers. He barged straight up to the counter and beamed. "I'm going to be a Jedi, I!" Teasel declared, his hands on his hips and his chest puffed out.

Siir Sunb, excited himself at the chance to train a young Jedi... after so long... beamed back. "Ah Teasel, your mother, she said yes to the training, then?"

"So long as I do my duty to my family first." Teasel nodded, feeling Very Important. "So long as I keep up with my chores and everything, I can train with you!"

"Magnificent!" The Sullustan came around the counter and lifted the little Ewok, spinning him in the air. Then, setting him down, his delighted expression turned sober. "Things will be different between us, you know."

"Because you'll be my master, you?"

"Yes, because I'll be..." Siir hesitated. "Dont call me master, I think. Call me teacher instead. But yes, I'll be your teacher, and you may not always like what I teach, or how I teach it. But you'll have to listen, and do your lessons. And with hard work and a great deal of practice, I think you've the potential to become a great Jedi."

"One of the best Jedi, I!" Teasel boasted, confident in his abilities.

Siir shook his head faintly, smiling a little. Humility, then, might be the best place to start.

- Using Physical Force -
Teasel is good with the kinetic aspect of the force. A large part of his training focused around this, and in his home life he found a lot of practical applications to work on the finer, more delicate aspects.

- Weapons Training -
When it comes to weapons, Teasel is good with his lightsaber, though he posesses little finesse. More of a beserker style, charging in with shouts of glee. Nevertheless, he's a fast little fuzzball and his ability to hide and then jump out unexpectedly tends to save his butt. As far as blasters and such, it's probably better to keep him away from them, his aim can be kind of lousy and unpredictable.

- Mind Tricks -
Teasel is strongest with thought manipulation, having grown up in a bustling market-type environment, he wasn't above practicing on vendors to get himself and his family a better deal. He's at a huge advantage when it comes to any kind of mind trick, because nobody ever suspects an Ewok. Even were he to brag about his Jedi abilities, most would simply laugh at him. Their mistake.
