Sujieko strolled through the forest, the nearby trees towering over him and the forest floor beneath his hooves. Dry leaves rustled quietly as he passed past them. Little noises could be heard now and then; the prattle of tiny paws climbing up a tree trunk, a little squeak in some nearby bush, the hoot of an owl. The little brown foal paid no attention to these. After all, he had long gotten used to them; he often spent hours with the little creatures that dwelled in this forest, having hardly any contact with other soquilis. In a night such as this, the bright moon shining high above sending shafts of its light through the leaves and branches of the trees onto the forest ground and rendering him unable to sleep, he enjoyed exploring the forest that he usually wondered about in the day time. Yet it seemed so different now than in the daylight, it was more mysterious...dark, sending a strange thrill through his senses. It was quieter too, it seemed that he could hear noises miles away, after all, most things were asleep at this time. Humming a soft tune, he continued his way through the forest. Barely paying any attention to where he was headed, Sujieko entered into the gigantic mouth of a cave hidden at the edge of the forest, only noting that it seemed to be getting darker ahead. After, it was getting pretty late, wasn't it?

Never being out at night before, little Marsiela snuck away from her mother's side while she slept. She had slunk along the edgeline of the moutain their teepee was situated in front of until she had gotten a good distance away. The grass rustled lightly under her hooves as she got further away from home and closer to the trees of the forest. Her ears were perked as she heard the chirping of crickets, trying to look for them, but having no luck in finding them. The night was so interesting, and she would have missed everything if it was left up to her mother. Trotting along, she eventually noticed something at the side of the mountain where it met with the forest. Was it a cave? Once at the entrance, she peeked in. It was pretty dark, but she never been inside a cave before. With a small, curious nicker, she made her way inside.

The darkness became steadly darker as Sujieko continued his way forward. How strange...there didn't seem to be any breeze, the air seemed to be almost still. He shrugged and continued his way forward. Suddenly, he paused. Eh? What was that sound? He blinked, it shouldn't sort of like a small nicker or something like that...but the sound seemed to have rebounded a few times...like an echo of some sort. Wait...echo? How was that supposed to happen if he was in the middle of a forest? He swished his tail with annoyance, it could've just been his imagination couldn't it? There was no one there aside from the trees and the forest animals, nothing could harm him...right?

The spotted foal's ears remained perked as she took a few more steps into the new location. She could have sworn she heard something like clopping echoing up ahead. Perhaps it was another horse? But what kind of horse would live in a cave? At that thought, her mind started to shift through many images of these hideous, mutated horses... all with sharp teeth. She gave a shudder at the thought, but swallowed down her fear, wanting to explore the cave. With that, she took a deep breath and trotted deeper within the dark crevice.

Brown ears twitched in the semi-darkness as Sujieko suddenly stopped, his figure tense and alert. He could have sworn that he had heard something...was that hooves or perhaps something more sinister? A bear? He twitched at the thought. Nah, it couldn't be a bear, bears lived in caves, didn't they? After all, it wasn't like he was in a cave anyways, so it would be impossible for a bear to be here...right? His ears twitched again, there was that sound again. It was definitely hooves. His fears lessened a little, perhaps it was just another soquili?
"Hello...?" He called out in a small voice, surprising himself as he heard his voice repeated over and over again, going fainter every time.

Marsiela continued deeper into the cave, though the lack of light had made her slow her pace some. Her ears were perked up to catch sound of anything she couldn't see. For some time, she could only hear the echo of her own hooves, but soon, the echo of a greeting caught her attention. Stopping in mid-step, her head quickly lifted and looked around. She couldn't see anyone, but there had to be someone inside with her. With that, she started trotting again, in hopes to find this other. "Um... Helloooo." She replied, hearing her own echo travel down the cave.

Sujieko suddenly stopped, the echoes had reached back now. No, not echoes, it was the sound of another voice. His own echoes had faded around this time, but this new voice had suddenly sounded. He blinked, trying to see through the darkness. Though his eyes had long adjusted to the blackness, he could see no more than a meter or so in each direction. Not much use or was it? His ears were perked up for any sounds as he stood stock still, his own breath filling the air.
Wait, what was that? It sounded like trotting hooves...Yes, definitely, hooves. His heart leapt, it must be another soquili! He started trotting towards where the voice had come from, though not as fast as he would've liked since he wasn't entirely sure what lurked in such place and he wouldn't like to trip over some upcropping of rock or wildlife. "Who are you?" He asked interested. Who aside from him would lurk about in the forests at night?

The spotted filly continued to trot ahead, curious as to who would be in a dark cave like this. She hoped that she wasn't walking into a trap and will be greeted by a kalona... but then again, she wasn't sure if they were as mean as her mother claimed to be, she always believed her mom just told her that to scare her.
Her ears perked up again when she heard the voice again. Who was she? That was always a weird question to answer. Did she answer with her name, or what? Figuring the other meant her name, she went with that. "I'm Marsiela... who are you?"

Sujieko blinked his sky blue eyes in the darkness, Marsiela? Marsiela, what a nice sounding name. He smiled warmly in the pitch blackness as he responded,"I'm Sujieko." He paused, trying to remember the manners that his mother had taught him, but like it would make a lot of difference if he inclined his head politely in this kind of darkness. "How do you do?"
The brown foal started to trot towards where he guessed the voice had come from, hoping to meet up with its owner. He hoped silently that it was another soquili like him, or else it would be quitte horrid if he walked into some trap of a skinwalker. Though the voice didn't quite sound like a skinwalker's that her mother had described for him, he continued on with caution. After all, he himself and his mother had never met a skinwalker before and it was good to be cautious in any situation. Yet Sujieko could almost tell from his instinct that the other meant no harm to him.

"Sujieko? That's a nice name!" Marsiela exclaimed with a giggle. Her ears continued to swivel as she took a few more steps into the cave, not wanting to have something unwanted come up from behind. Now that she thought about it, there was no guarantee that she was safe in this situation. She's never met a kalona or a skinwalker, nor does she believe that they are all evil, but she doesn't want to make the unfortunate mistake into running one that actually had bad intent.
Hearing the other's question and something in her gut told her though, that this one didn't mean any harm. She giggled again at the question, always finding the wording of it funny. "I do good." She replied playfully, "and you do?"

Sujieko blinked, what was the filly, for it sounded like a female voice, giggling about? Surely not that she was going to leap out of the darkness and eat him. No, no, that can't be. That would be absurd. It didn't sound like a kalona or a skinwalker to him though admittedly he had never actually met one so that couldn't have made much of a difference. But the voice seemed to be more full of mirth than of hidden evilness,
"I'm a-okay." He paused and asked,"Why are you here? I didn't know that there will other soquilis like me who liked to wonder in the darkness. Well, of course there are kalonas and skinwalkers...but" He paused again, deliberating. If she was a kalona/skinwalker, then that would be very very bad, but on the offhand chance she wasn't, that would be comforting,"You aren't a kalona or a skinwalker, are you?"

At the others statement, she blinked a bit. "I'm here because I saw this opening at the side of the mountain. Why are you here? I didn't think many lived in caves... well, besides bears." She replied with a tilt of her head. She wished she knew where exactly this other soquili was, even if she couldn't see him, she would feel a bit... safer to know that they were nearby, just in case something was in the cave other than the two of them.
At his second question, a look on her face appeared as if saying 'are you crazy?' Shaking her head to no one in particular, she answered. "Nope. Just little me. I don't have anything special about me... well, besides my spots."

Sujieko blinked,"Eh? This is a cave? No way. I'm in the middle of the for-" A look of shock crossed his face. No, no way. That couldn't be. How could he have ended up in a cave without him knowing it? But that had to be true. That would have explained all the weird echoey noises and the pitch darkness. Even in the forest at night, there was hardly ever a time that it was true darkness for there were always the stars and moon shining overhead. But Sujieko hadn't noticed until now because he had thought that the canopy just might have been very thick and that it would thin out soon enough as he continued onwards...but, him, in a cave? How in the world was he going to get out of here?
"Spots...? You're not half cheetah, are you?" A drop of sweat appeared at his neck. It would be the worst situation if he was currently in a cave somewhere (which he had no idea how to get out of) talking to a potential meat-eater half cheetah named Marsiela.
