So, about 4 years ago, I discovered Nightwish. This was my very first exposure to anything remotely resembling metal in all of it's glorious awesomeness. Honestly, it was like sex in my ears. So for the past 4 years I've been listening to Nightwish....nothing else. Needless to say, the same s**t gets old. So you people should recommend whatever is good. I'm already taking notes on all the stuff that's on the forums, but I need more so gimme gimme.

There's so so so so so much better than Nightwish to be had. Metal that really is sex to the ears and you'll need Q-tips handy to swab up the mess.

If you're going to get into metal, you need to know the basics, like who made this s**t and where it came fro way back in the 70's. from there you can pick the genre you like and find your own research. lesson number 1: OG metalheads Metal is accredited to a couple different bands depending on your opinion but most people say Black Sabbath. They are a need to know. If your start witht he early 70's you might want to check out Deep Purple, Led Zepplin, Cream and Rainbow, and Def Leppard as well. They're definiletly a different sound, it was the 70's and the dawn of a new era so get ready. They are the absolute firsts along with a couple others. For a little heavier stuff try Alice Cooper and Kiss, the founder of shock rock. Lesson number two: The New Wave Of British Heavy Metal includes AMAZING BANDS SUCH AS Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Saxon, etc. etc. They are acredited with bringing Metal back from extinction by punk in england and america. I'm too lazy to keep going but start there and see what you like. Anyone who knows something I missed or have incorrect please go right ahead and fix it.
