The sun was warm on her back, seeping through her body like something liquid. It was a pleasant day, with clear blue skies and a gentle breeze that kept it from being just a little too hot. Hakumei had found this spot a few days ago and it had instantly become her new favourite place to relax away from her siblings. The small but deep spring bubbled up pleasantly in the rocky pool before spilling out over a tiny ledge to bubble its happy way downhill, forming a small but sweet-tasting little brook. Set a little way back the forest's edge offered shade at all times of the day, and in the middle of the clearing the sun warmed the short, thick carpet of clover.
Shaking her head she shifted slightly, tail flicking sleepily against her flanks. It was a rare sight, to see this particular youth so relaxed, dozing in the sunlight. Long legs so recently gangly and awkward with foal-hood, had begun to strengthen, the slender body filling out with the first sleek curves of what would become her adult form.
Another slow flick of her tail drove off a persistent bug of some kind as her head bobbed in a half-doze. She had been out all night, visiting a friend, and had slipped away to her secret base to catch up on her rest.
