Alright so I'm curious. We all know D is awesome but what about other characters from the series? Tell us who your favorite is and why.
Personally, I think my favorite is the face on D's hand. He's quite comical and even though he isn't an actual seperate being. I still think that he is awesome. Especially when he's being his know it all self.

Well I do have to agree with his left hand, He always makes me giggle. I think my favorite thing he said was from the first movie. "What would you do without me?.....Don't answer that."
But besides him I would defiantly pick Granny Viper from the 6th novel. Just like lefty she always made me giggle, and she was just a fun character. I won't say to much since I don;t wanna spoil anything.

Hmm favorite character other then D huh? That would have to be either Lina from Book 2 ( I believe that was her name) Or Raya and Dynus from Book 10, third story just because their story was just so bitter sweet.
Left Hand is always awesome, if you haven't read book 7 and 8, you're missing a lot of really good jokes with Left Hand and D.
And I'm surprised no one mentioned Leila! She's one tough bird!

no doubt she is good. She is definatly a fav of mine. But maybe it was because she was too much like D? I mean they are both tortured souls, both strong. I mean she fit D like if we were to ever start pairing D up with people Doris and Lelia would be fighting it out for D. They're my favorite young female girls so far. The girl in the second book was only decent because she got D to uh... talk lol i mean s**t she got different reactions from him thats hard to do.
The girl in the beginning of the 7th book was good to, she reminded me of a blend of Doris and Lelia. ( and i havent read past that point yet guys sorry lol i have to get around to picking up the book again and reading. Ive been busy as of late, gaming and Rping dont help.)

hm... tough one. all the characters mentioned are cool, but i'd have to say my favorites besides D are:
Meyerling, he was cool, he wasn't really in the book enough i don't think, but i thought he was compelling when he was. and i really felt bad for him and his human love (Charlotte) at the end of the Vol.3 and the whole thing about love crossing the divide between human and noble, and how they really did love each other. but i suppose i'm a bit of a sap.
Rei-Ginsei in the first book... not the anime. his blades were a neat principal i'm surprised i hadn't heard of before, metal boomerangs with razor sharp blades, that's cool. i wasn't necessarily fond of his personality 100%... i found him interesting in the book, and it was polarized i suppose when i figured out which one he was in the anime (he didn't even look like him!)
Black Knight from vol.9. don't ask why, i don't know, i just found him an interesting character. and i did so want that scene that seemed to have been promised, when he escorted Elena back to the village, she asked him what he really was, and he told her if she was there at his time death, that she could take his helmet off and find out. i wanted to know so terribly!!!
Amne, the girl who worked at the Inn in 'Dark Nocturne' in Vol.10 made me chuckle. leading Ry around under one premise, revealing a truth about what they were really doing, then suddenly something else reveals that truth was only half true, and was just to get him to go with her. i don't know, just the way she lets on more and more of what she actually knows about the noble ruins was kinda funny. that, and she was a rather endearing character.
yeah, i know, mine are the odd ones out, but hey, someone's gotta love the minor characters!

I really ;ike Doris too. I really think that D made a real connection with her. Not only her but also her little brother. I was like... if D ever wanted to settle down and start a family, let's face it he won't, but if he did he would probably got back to her. Another character I like only because it seems to touch slightly on D own chilhood was Lea form the sixth novel. He really cared about her because I think that he sees her kind of like his own mother. Then it kind of makes you think... what happened to D's mother. You hear things about his father but nothing about a mother or what happened to her. question confused Makes me wonder though.

If you read volume 8, it touches ever so slightly (like a page maybe) on his mother...but as for what happened to her well she must have been a human if his father is a vampire so she's probably dead.

I don't have much possibility to choose because I've only see the movies, but I love the little face on D's hand. (is her the Parasite, right?).
And Meyer of the Bloodlust film impressed me positevely, thought he doesn't talk so much. His love with Charlotte was very beautiful, (especially the scenes in which he exit from the carriage under the sun to protect Charlot), and usually I am not very entusiastic about love scenes in movies, books and mangas ^_^' I love his way to fight too, using the wings-cloack.
Leila is a good character, as the rest of the hunter's company (the one who fight as a ghost!) but maybe is too similar to D, as you said.

I loved that part too and I'm not very big on love scenes myself but that was just...touching somehow. And the one who fights as a ghost was Grove, I believe. He was actually pretty cool. But Leila, Doris and the evil hand of sarcasm (aka Left Hand) get my vote.

I Live in Canada, and getting a hold of the novels if VERY hard.
I mean the manga JUST got here, and all I've been able to find is volume 2.
However, I have both movies.
So out of those two, I'd have to say my favourite characters besides D would have to be:
Grove Markus, and Meier Link.

besides Vampire D I really liked Baron Meier Link, because even if he was a vampire he didn't want to harm Charlotte he only wished for peace so that he could love her. smile redface sweatdrop
