Breeding

Taniel left behind lots of little charms and things in the wagon, but Rojiza only knows how one of them works--fitzcherries.



Fitzcherries are necessary for Banya breeding. Only one pair of fitzcherries is needed (and they are sold in pairs). One berry should be fed to each member of the couple, and the couple should be kept in the same wagon.

Couples must be male/female.

In a few weeks, a chick (or, rarely, two) will be born. Who the chick goes to is the owners' decision.

Tamlin had noticed Rojiza spending more and more time at Taniel's abandoned wagon recently. Although the girl seemed to greatly enjoy the company of the birds, far more then the other members of the caravan it seemed. And definitely more then she liked being within close proximity to herself. Tamlin wondered at this, Caroline was such an outgoing friendly person, but Ro always seemed ill at ease with others. * I suppose not being able to talk without using the little notebook makes it difficult to have conversations with friends* thought Tamlin. *I wonder what she is doing in the wagon, the birds don't need so much care that it takes all afternoon, perhaps she could use some help* she resolved to wander over next time she saw Ro on her way to the wagon and offer some company if not help.

Sure enough, after waiting awhile she saw Ro making her way towards Taniel's wagon and so she followed her over. Tam's speed was faster then Ro's by a little bit and so they arrived at almost the same time.

"Hello Rojiza, I thought you might like some company today. You seem to be taking care of the birds well enough, but perhaps I could help some today? Perhaps it might help me take care of Macquieth better, my family never had a Banya before so I'm not sure I take proper care of him."

Tamlin smiled warmly at Rojiza and then followed her in through the open door. she found an open seat and looked around, she never really had spent much time in the aviary before. Either Taniel had been very neat or Ro had organized everything after his departure. it was a very relaxing and welcoming wagon, and she highly approved of the cleanliness. She was about to tell Ro that she was glad the place was being looked after and that the birds all looked quite content under her care, but then stopped herself. Ro didn't seem to enjoy chatter to much, understandably as she could not join in, so Tamlin simply reached over and lifted away Ro's paper pad and wrote,
Thank you. It's very nice here. The birds are happy with you.
As she handed the pad back to the Ro she found herself looking at the Banya she was holding. She hadn't taken much notice of the individual birds before, but now that she was looking at it, she found herself captivated by its beauty and deep far seeing eyes.

At first she was shocked by the birds weight on her arm, she had been so absorbed in watching it she hadn't even noticed the movement. Once the bird settled she felt the tug at her heart even before reading the note from Rojiza. "mine?" Tamlin barely spoke above a whisper, but as soon as she spoke the words it felt right. she sat quietly for awhile growing accustomed to the bird. Then, "i guess that's the meij for you" she laughed cautiously, accepting the beautiful Banya.

Tsura fiddled somewhat nervously with the end of her braid as she walked towards Honeyed Aria. It wasn't like she actually had any business there, she was just curious about the wagon that apparently homed so many Banyas. Tsura hasn't seen one of the creatures since she'd left her home Caravan five years ago.

She rapped lightly on the door " Anyone here?."

Tsura was somewhat startled by the girl before her. In the short time she'd been with the caravan she'd glimpses of other odd children, not including Sindri whom she'd seen full on, but she'd been too busy trying to settle in to investigate. Trying not to stare the woman found words came easier than she'd expected.


"I apologize if I'm disturbing you, My name is Tsura," here she paused to smile " I was curious about this wagon, it's been a long time since I've seen Banya." Not quire rambly the young woman thought, though still sort of weird and perhaps not the best impression she could have made.
