Ever notice that many of the bad things in the series is somehow directly or indirectly linked to Madara? Here is my list:
1. Madara sends Demon Fox to Konoha.
1a. 4th Hokage dies
1b. Naruto is antagonized for being a jinkuriki.
2. Madara's actions raise suspicions towards the Uchiha.
2a. Uchiha clan is prompted to plot an Coup d' etat (failed).
2b. Itachi forced to wipe out clan.
2c. Sasuke emotionaly scarred for life.
2d. Sasuke betrays village.
2e. Itachi dies.
3. Madara forms the Akatsuki
3a. Asuma dies
3b. Jiraya dies
3c. Chiyo dies
3d. Jinkurikis 2-7 (soon cool die.
3e. Shikaku stolen from Gaara.

3e. Shukaku stolen from Gaara.
3f. Orochimaru starts his hunt for uchihas to stal their bodies, which links back up to 2d
