Night on Tyrinonge fell swiftly, like a dark curtain being pulled across a window. The sky turned dusky purple, and then pitch black, and then the stars came out, pinpricks of light that wove a dusty band across the night sky. Jiri knew it to be one of the mighty arms of the galaxy, stretching out into the void.

She climbed the wall, calloused toes and fingers finding holds in the craggy stone. Another growth spurt had left her lanky, tall, and a bit unsure of what to do with her newfound height. She relished in the stretch and strain that came from the display of strength, and perched on the wide, flat top.

Distantly, water burbled in the main courtyard.

She stared up at the sky, held up a hand to block out light coming from the building, and tried to find pictures in the stars.

It was late and Wes was more than aware that the rest of the younglings would be preparing for, if not already in, bed. Yet, the human child couldn't help but feel an itching that reached to his bones and tiny spurts of energy in his developing muscles. His time on the temple had been short, not all of it had been explored yet he couldn't help but feel contained. Even the high ceilings seemed to press down on him as he sneaked through the claustrophobic inducing building. Fresh air, the sky, the clouds anything but the clean scent of the quarters and echoed whispers at night.

Wes stopped at the courtyard, eyes scanning the walls for some dip, or a rock or something. From a distance the ten year old thought he could attempt and climb it, hot stuff and all of that jazz. The dimmed light silhouetted him as he attempted to climb up the wall, tiny fingers and hands finding purchase in the gravely surface. It stung, but it was welcome to ease the itching, got to get out feeling that had curled deep in his belly.

About halfway up is when Wes realized he was in trouble. Wiith both hands wedged on the stony surface, one foot stuck in a small dip by his chest and the other hanging loosely, he was not going to make it. So he did the only thing he could. We flailed about, wiggling his free foot and looking down to see an ominous drop before him. Panic racked his body as he attempted to scramble up the wall face to no avail.

"Help?" Came a pathetic whimper. His voice was kept low as to not disturb the fellow sleeping younglings or to call unwanted attention of a master or someone with authority.

"Help"

Jiri sat up sharply and looked over the side of the wall. She squinted for a moment until she made out the shape climbing the wall, and extended a hand down to the youngling hanging there.

"What are you doing out this late?" she asked, pulling him up. She laughed easily once he was settled, eyesacks tightening against her cheekbones. "As I recall, younglings get sent to bed early."

She grinned in the darkness, and the light from the temple complex gave her skull-like features a bit of an eerie look. "Jiri Yim, Jedi Apprentice," she said. "Who're you?"

Wes grappled at the outstretched hand, limbs flailing against the wall as he clambered up in a not so graceful manner. Maybe he wasn't totally cut out for this...yet. He was sure that the noise of skin on stone was more deafening than a blaster shot in this quiet but he kept himself level as he reached the top of the wall. A small breath of relief and a few seconds to actually take in who his rescuer was and he had the decency to look abashed.

"It was...claustrophobic in there and I'm not a little kid anymore." He muttered sheepishly and grinned at the girl before him. Dimples pinched the corners of his cheeks as he held out a hand, one leg idly swinging keeping himself calm. As long as there was movement he was comfortable in this new place. "I know it's bad but there's so much stuff to see, ya'know?"

"My name's Wes." He paused remembering manners long since drilled in his head. "Wes Nilo."

As if shy to the heavens the young boy looked up at the pin hole globes of light marring the sky and could have sworn he saw his home from here... That is if it wasn't so far away. He curled into a small ball against the nighttime breeze and rested his chin on his knees as large blue eyes gazed at the girl before him. "What's your name?" He asked in unafraid innocence.

"Jiri Yim," she repeated, silently excusing him for missing it the first time she'd said it. She could understand claustrophobia - she occasionally felt it herself, though she was certain not for the same reasons as the boy. Sometimes the inorganic confines of her bedroom felt like a trap, and she had to make her way to the courtyard and surround herself with nature.

"Have you been at the temples long?" she asked. She was nearly certain he hadn't been in the same group of younglings as she was - that much was obvious. He was younger than her, of course. But how much younger she wasn't certain.

"Oh... You've said that before." Wes felt heat rising on his cheeks as he looked to the side and huddled further into his ball. "I'm an apprentice here too." the boy muttered dumbly before inwardly berating himself. He looked back to the temple, warm lights glowing around the soft stone and he cringed. It seemed to much on his...how many night's has he been here? Not long but long enough to forget the exact number.

"I...I haven't. I'm new here." He said softly as if it were an embarrassing fact. He'd been so afraid of the older apprentices playing jibes with him, picking on him just because he was new. That's what happened back home but now everything was said in a small glance or the way people speak. No more of that childish nonsense he supposed.

"Youngling," corrected Jiri, though not rudely. "Or an initiate," she explained. "You're too young to be an apprentice, I think." She looked the boy up and down. His newness certainly explained why she hadn't seen him before. She also knew that the sudden isolation, combined with the rigorous course of study, could seem jarring to new students. It certainly had to her.

"Where are you from?" she asked. This was always a point of interest when meeting new students - the galaxy was so large, hence there were all sorts of exotic and fantastic places within it, many of which she had never even heard of. "I'm from Zonama Sekot," she offered as means of opening the conversation. "It's on the outer rim."

For the moment, at least, she thought.
