Clara was lost, but this wasn't unusual. She had gotten used to being lost, and had gotten to a stage where she rather liked it. It took all the stress out of the day, simply exploring as she did. You didn't know where you were going, but that was half the fun! The birds were singing, and up in the trees, squirrels scampered. The forest was beautiful during the summer, when the sun seemed to break through the leaf layer and create bright patches that were just perfect to sleep in. Clara loved the world, and it seemed to love her back.

But she was rather hungry. The delicate unicorn mare wrinkled her nose as her stomach grumbled loudly. That was so very rude of her! At least no one was around to hear... She thought. Sighing, she shifted from cloven hoof to cloven hoof, eyeing some rather brown berries with distaste. She would eat them if she had to, but Clara was a firm believer that life always held options. She wouldn't eat that, unless her searches turned up nothing else.

Still walking along merrily, Clara hummed softly to herself. She had quite a good voice, not that she would ever admit it. The mare was modest to a fault, denying all her good deeds, and attributing them to others. She didn't like having the limelight on her in that way- she would much rather someone else had. Surely that person was more deserving anyway. Clara had so much love to give, and no one to give it to.

Still humming, Clara finally got frustrated. Her temper rarely went, but she was so terribly hungry. "Isn't there anyone here? I'm lost! Please?" Her calls rang out loudly and plaintively, sounding rather pitiful, yet not full of self-pity. Clara never had self-pity, but she did need food rather badly.

The loud plea of someone broke through his afternoon nap. He was not one for the day, but the soft blanket of sunlight that filtered through the canopy made naps comfortable that even the fluttercorn could now deny them for long.

He was a glimmering thing, all stars and moonlit wheat, with wings that appeared to be made out of woven silver. So out of place in this sun streaked forest that he stood out like a rock in the center of a sand garden.

He tilted his head, the beaten silver leaves in his hair chimeing softly as he rose to his hooves, the glimmering moonlight hooves brushing the leaves as he took to the air, darting easily untill he saw the dainty pink creature on the forest floor.

" Darling a great way to escape the dangers of getting lost in the woods... is to simply stick to the paths " he said as he landed lightly infront of her, his voice soft and concerned at the distress in her voice. One should never wonder the deep woods unless they were very familiar with them.

Even Clara, not easily swayed, turned her head at this strange soquili's beauty. He had a horn like her, and a tail, and cloven hooves, but from his back magnificent wings rose. He had a cloak too. Clothing, just like her! Clara had never met another soquili who wore human clothes as she did. Most other soquili just thought it strange.

Then he spoke, his concern evident. Clara felt bashful, a blush rising to her cheeks for her mistake. She shouldn't have been wandering, it was true.

"I didn't mean to get lost. I know this area a little. But I seem to get lost wherever I go. Usually it is just one big adventure, but today I got hungry instead." Sounding properly repentant for her mistake, Clara blinked with large blue eyes at the fluttercorn.

"My name is Clara," she said shyly. "What's yours?" He was so... pretty. There was no other word for it. Oh, he was handsome too, but he was beautiful as well. He was a boy, wasn't he? No, he had to be. He had a masculine voice, and a look to him that suggested male as well. But he was even prettier than she was!

"I like your wings," the unicorn added again, still blushing. "And your pearls." He had jewelry too, just like her! Clara found herself growing dreadfully excited at the idea of a friend who had such apparent similarities to herself. Especially a handsome friend!

" Well if it was intentional it would not be called getting lost " he said with a soft grin that was filled with faint amusement and good will. The blush made her look so much more alive then this serene forest around her. The woods themselves felt like all was still and takeing a rest, but she looked all flustered and full of vitality it seeped into him, causeing a grin to cross his face, makeing it look younger then an origonal impression would let on.

" My name is Ithildin, kind greetings to you clara " he said, giveing a faint bow of his head that swept his hair to the side, before he glanced at his wings. He smiled, a little shyly. everyone in his family had wings, and he considered his to be by far the least stunning of them all so it warmed him to know someone admired them. And his jewlery chimed as he looked down at it as she mentioned it. " Thank you, they were a gift from my mother when i reached majority " he said. He and his brother both, graced with strands of glowing moon-pearls from his mother.

Pale eyes glanced over her to rest on her necklace, his gaze resting on the shimmering gold of the locket " Your necklace is lovely as well Clara, if suits you well" and then he remember what she had said... " You are hungry yes? " he said, tilting his head to the side slightly.

Clara could take the gentle teasing the stallion offered. In fact, she rather liked it. It had been far too long since she had had any sort of companionship, and she was extremely pleased that her first foray back into some semblance of being social was with a kind soquili. He was right. It had been foolish to wander around. All sorts of soquili with intentions less pure could be lurking around.

Ithildin seemed shy as well. Clara was happy she could meet a soquili that wasn't full of himself. Pompous and blustery wasn't the way to make friends or impress a mare. Even Clara, with her tendency to be easily impressed and gracious, could not find herself warming to a soquili who exonerated his attributes. And his wings were very impressive.

"I wish I could recall who gave me my locket." Peering as she could down at the golden jewelry, Clara lipped it open with delicacy. "Thank you for your kind words. It hasn't got anything in it though, see?" The unicorn mare showed the now open locket, standing as it was with nothing in it. The two heart shapes lay against her cream colored chest, standing out nicely against her pink gown. "I should like to find something to put in it, but I haven't quite thought of what yet." Frowning briefly, Clara cleared her head by shaking her mane, ringlets bouncing joyously.

Food. Hunger. As if to answer Ithildin, Clara's stomach grumbled loudly, causing the mare to laugh loudly, still blushing slightly at how rude the noise was. "Oh yes, I'm terribly hungry. I haven't had anything since early this morning." It was going to be late afternoon soon. Maybe Clara would even have to spend the evening in the forest, which seemed terribly exciting to her. As long as Ithildin was there. Everything was better with someone else there, and Ithildin looked capable of fending off anyone that bothered them.
