Who: Edward & Liliana Elric
What: a little family discussion. *winks*
When: Not long after the hatching of Liliana’s latest (and last) siblings.
Where: In their room.
Why: hearing the pitter-patter of little paws has interested Liliana in … well read and see.
Not as sedentary as she once was, Liliana Lupin-Elric enjoyed a rare moment alone in the room she shared with her mate and whichever of their kits wanted to stay with them at the time, even though they were grown. She lay gracefully on the soft bedding, looking like she was posing for an artist’s canvas though she was not and in truth had no idea that was how it might appear. There was a soft and content smile on her face as she looked upon the latest painting held within the elaborate and gently sparkling frame Endless had made & gifted them for Christmas. She hoped he was happy, and though the little potions master thought on this it was not the focus of her thoughts. Her green eyes played over the new painting, gently touching the faces therein. Her family. Remus’ family really. It was a little much to fit in, and thankfully the Relm that painted it had decided the Lupin branch was enough instead of adding the kin through Nokomis’ side. Still she had managed to learn what even those far great-grandkits of Remus’ looked like and added them too into the painting. 16 kits, all their kits & mates and grandkits. The artist had been thoughtful and even added Edward’s brother, Alphonse, to the painting –beside each other as was fitting. Lily thought nothing of how her little section of the family looked smaller in stature compared to the others. It made her heart grow.
And… it made her think other things too.
Softly Liliana blushed. Was it too soon to be thinking these thoughts? Perhaps Edward would want to wait. Their kits were full grown, yes, but … well Mother and Daddy had not waited had they? It was not worry, really. Merely musings & wonderings. Perhaps… perhaps she would speak to Edward about it when he returned. Test the water a bit first. They could talk about her new siblings.
Liliana giggled softly to herself. Siblings. Younger than her daddy’s first great-grandkits. She was glad to be no longer jealous of her mother. How could she be, when she had found so much more in Edward?

Edward had been getting restless as of late. He often left the house in the middle of the day to either see his brother, roam, or whatever else he could find to do. Not that his life was boring, but staying in one place, settling down, had been hard for him to get use to. All those years traveling in Amestris, trying to get his and Al's bodies back, fighting homunculi.... this life just seemed so calm and peaceful.. normal. Which wasn't bad... but... it just lacked something sometimes.
He was returning from one of his excursions, when he walked into their room. He yawned widely, and meandered to where Lily was before flopping down on a pillow beside her. "Hey Lily" he greeted with a nuzzle to his mate's cheek. He then flipped over on his back to relax... and folded his paws on his chest. For Edward, it was just another day.

At the scent of her mate Liliana’s smile turned up a little more at the corners. Green eyes shifted from the image of him in the painting and the real thing, again impressed by how Relm had captured each of them upon the canvas. But as lifelike as the painting was… it did not have Edward’s scent or feel or warmth.
Liliana made a soft ‘mrr’ sound as she lightly returned the nuzzle, her gaze following Ed’s movements with a gentle and happy air that was a hint dreamy. She never tired of looking at him. He was so sexy. Cute too. With a giggle Liliana swished her tails to brush his, rotating a little so she could better look at Ed without having to strain or move a whole lot. “Everything good with Alphonse?”
Joy that they were able to spend so much time together. Yes… Lily could just as easily be happy having her mate’s time all to herself but she knew the power of family. Never would she want to come between the brothers and rather than be jealous, she found joy in their closeness & bond. There was also the undercurrent that Alphonse was always welcome here as well, but that she would never push the issue.
There was another question there too, concerning Ed’s brother that would likely remain unspoken. She might tease… but unlikely so. It was just one of those things she wondered –having her happiness and wishing the same to those she loved. And Lily loved Alphonse as if he was one of her own brothers.
The thought made her smile.
It also reminded her where her thoughts had been wandering. Playfully, lightly, Liliana swiped her tails over her mate's.

"Yeah, everything's fine" Edward replied with a smile as Liliana turned to look at him. He never tired of being around here either, despite his itchy paws as of late. With the kits all grown and doing their own thing, he'd been looking for something to do. Surprisingly, Envy and been rather quiet and not bothered them. Which he was certainly glad for, there was no mistake of that. His fears for the safety of his family had been waning to the point where he wasn't quite as protective over his daughters as he had been. Infact, he encouraged them to go out and explore the world, make friends, do things. He might say that you only get a chance at life once, but that didn't always seem to be true... considering Edward's own situation.
As Liliana's tails playfully brushed against his, Edward grinned and twined his own tails around hers. He then looked up at the painting that she had been staring at, the portrait of their rather enormous extended family. "What were you thinking about?" he asked, clearly able to tell that there had been something on her mind. He knew his mate all too well.

Her smile showed how glad Lily was to hear that. It mattered to her how Al was doing. It mattered to their kits too. She could go on, but now maybe was not the time.
Green eyes twinkled as her tails were 'caught' and thought she playfully tried to 'free' them Liliana was doing anything but. They looked well together -her tails & his. Him & her. Ah... as usual Ed seemed able to see right through her. Enough to know something was up. Well perhaps not up yet, but to know she was thinking of something. Not all kitsu could say that of their mates.
"My new siblings," the crimson furred witch replied obliquely, skirting the resulting thread of that thought-track for the time being. Perhaps it could be she was testing the water, or simply seeing if her mate's thoughts would follow the same track on their own. Or just to set him on the track, to bring him round to it herself.
She was thinking about them. "I had nearly forgotten Daddy and Mother had that passion fruit stored away. Amazing, isn't it?"

Her new siblings? He paused as she mentioned them. "Oh right... I should pay them a visit, shouldn't I?" he asked with a sheepish grin. He'd heard about the newest batch of kits from Lily's parents, but it kept slipping his mind to actually go and visit them. He probably should be ashamed of himself for putting it off, but well... it couldn't be helped now. He would just have to do it.
"A passion fruit?" Ed then echoed, looking slightly surprised as well. He didn't even know they had one. Infact, he knew rather little about those things himself. "Yeah, that's amazing. How did they even get one?" From his understanding, those fruits were rather rare and hard to come by. Lily's parents must have wanted to have kits again, badly, to have sought one of those out. Unfortunately, Edward didn't quite seem to be catching on to where his mate's train of thought was going.

Daddy's been letting them do their own thing. Like he did with all of us." The crimson furred daddy's girl looked sheepish. "Not his fault my own thing was to stay with him as much as I could." She remembered how Remus had practically forced her to go off on her own as a teen. A venture that resulted in her meeting Edward for the first time. Daddy couldn't have known... Whatever act of serendipity that was, Liliana was glad of it. Smiling Lily nosed Ed's ear lightly, a soft happy sound coming from within her. "Probably won't be too hard to come across Sothis or Winny." A soft repeating giggle. "He's like our William -one boy with three sisters." Actually, Romulus had that situation as well but being one of those three sisters Liliana overlooked that little fact.
Rolling over towards her belly, Liliana snuggled into her mate's side. She never tired of the feel of him. "As for the passion fruit... I think they came across it the Valentine's Day around when the others were coming. I... don't really know much about it." Shame colored her otherwise happy voice, remembering how she had selfishly ran rather than be happy for her parents. Her foolish youthful jealousy... it caused her to miss out on the joy of her upcoming siblings. Not this time. She had been able to enjoy it as well as be happy -for all of them. "I knew Mother always wanted a big family. When they didn't use the Passion Fruit... guess I just forgot about it."
Actually... there had been other things in her own life that took center stage in her mind since then. Endless & Edward... venturing out in the world... Ed maturing... their Christmas conception... Envy... their kits. It had been a busy time.
Liliana nuzzled his neck, breathing in his scent. Her face was hot as she blushed beneath crimson fur with what she wanted to ask. It was silly, how she felt like a kit asking something that should be totally normal for mates. But she did not want to tie him down. Liliana suspected that he might want to taste again adventures like he and Alphonse once shared. In fact, she was a little surprised the brothers had not left on at least a small adventure. At least after the kits were grown. She suspected the reason for it might have something to do with Envy and because of that did not bring up her thoughts. Liliana preferred not to think of the homuculus, much less speak of him. Her eyes lidded as she breathed and watched his profile. "mmm... Edward...?"
Whispered, Liliana's voice hinted a bit at what she wanted to ask. Rather, it hinted that there might be something.

Edward grinned a little, remembering how attached Liliana use to be to her father. In some ways she still was, but not like she use to. "Well its a good thing I came along, right?" he teased lightly. He then tilted his head, "Oh yeah?" He would have to see if he could find any of her newest siblings and get to know them a little. Edward was still, in some ways, not use to being around such an enormous family. He hadn't grown up around so many.
At Lily's confessions of the passion fruit, Edward just shrugged, figuring it wasn't really all that important. If they wanted to have more kits, then more power to them! He just couldn't imagine having that many kids himself. He wondered how Remus managed to keep his sanity sometimes. "They going to have any more, or is this it?"
As far as him not going off on an adventure with his brother.. well... he had thought about it. There was the matter of what they would actually DO out there... along with the threat of Envy. But really, Ed did enjoy being around his family. He would miss Lily terribly if they were gone for too long. Putting his paws around his mate as she snuggled against him, Ed nuzzled her affetionately. "Yeah?" he asked, hearing that unspoken question in her voice.

"mm-mmm" she agreed wordlessly, smile and snuggle saying how she thought it was very, very good thing Edward came along into her life.
Liliana giggled softly into his fur. "I hope 14 of us is enough for them..." Green eyes lidded as Lily lifted her head slightly into her mate's nuzzle. "Edward..." She was coming back around to that question. "I... do you... I mean I'd really..." The witch laughed softly at herself. "I guess... is four enough for you?"
A pause as Liliana realized that might not come across quite as she hoped. "I mean... well, more. What would you say about more?"
The female held her breath, green eyes opened and looking up to catch her mate's haunting golden gaze.

Those golden eyes blinked several times as Edward processed this information. "More?" he asked with a slight squeak to his voice. He hadn't really thought about it much. "Before... I wouldn't have even imagined having four..." he admitted. After all, that was a lot for a human, but not so for Kitsusagi, apparently. He paused, turning this thought over in his mind as he looked at Liliana's face. "...But, they did grow up fast." That was one thing that he hadn't cared for. It had taken him so long to grow, and then his own children were grown before he knew it.
A smile then came to his maw, "If that's what you want, Lily, then I'm okay with it." He wanted to keep his mate happy, and really... Edward wasn't opposed to the idea of having more.

There was a slight wince hearing her beloved's voice squeak like that. Did it mean he did not like the idea? Or it was frightening to him? Liliana did not want the idea of more kits to frighten her mate. Then she relaxed, understanding dawning on her. Of course that would make sense. He had been human once. Humans did not have litters. Their young grew slower too. Much slower. She would have wished too their own kits had not been so quick to mature. Really... sometimes Liliana thought they reached maturity even more speedily than she or her siblings had. Deep down... their mother had hoped they would take after their father in that regard. Even a year was a short time for parents to have their kits young. At least from her perspective.
Edward's smile was all she needed. More kits were not needed to keep her happy -she was already more happy than she could ever have dreamed- but there was something inside of her longing for more kits to share with her mate. Liliana snuggled closer, whuffing her breath into his neck and nipping playfully and loverly where the blonde hairs started at the back. "...'okay with it'?" She repeated with a slightly teasing tone breathing into fur and hair as it tickled her pink nose. "I'd really like more. So yes... I want them. But only if you want to, not just that you're 'okay with it'..."

Okay, so maybe that hadn't been the best wording for it, but Edward never claimed to be perfect. He gave her a sheepish look as she repeated his words back to him, ears tilting back a little. Edward was quiet for a moment before giving a resolute nod, "I do" he said finally. He could remember the joy and happiness in their family when the first batch had come along. How much he enjoyed being around the tiny little balls of fur that were his kits. He wanted to experience that again.
Edward grinned broadly, while also giving a short laugh, "Maybe this time William can have a brother." This thought amusing Edward greatly as he thought back to when he and Alphonse had grown up in their first lives. He wanted his eldest son to experience what it was like to have a little brother, and not just a plethora of sisters. Although really, Ed also didn't mind the idea of having more daughters to dote upon.

Green eyes had a roguish quality to them as Liliana pulled her head back so she could smile and look her mate in the eyes once more. She had hoped, and even expected he would... she just did not want there to be any doubt or uncertainty. She wanted any future kits to be just as wanted & loved beforehand as their current four. Perhaps it was a silly thing, but her logical mind had needed that reassurance. Her eyes twinkled with love and joy at Ed's laugh, then she too was laughing at prospect.
"Maybe..." Lily agreed, drawing the single word out slowly with a smile on her maw. A look Edward should well know sparkled in her eyes and on her slightly tilted face as white and gold tails swayed meaningfully over their back legs. "Care to keep the ball rolling and find out?"

Ed's grin turned sly at his mate's question, golden eyes filled with mischief. The claws of his flesh paw combing through her fur. "You really need to ask?" he said back, his tails catching hers once again.

There it was... that look in Edward's eyes & how it curled his smile oh-so differently. Liliana loved getting that particular look to surface in his eyes. Her body arched happily beneath his touch yet Lily managed to keep her eyes opened. Somewhat. Heat smoldered behind the green gaze. "mmm.... probably not. But I wanted to."
Pressing close to her mate Lily kissed him deeply, seeing that two objects in motion most certainly would stay in motion. At least for a good long time. *fadeout*
