Lucifer trotted down the windy hills fairly distant away from the kawani village, the moon gleamed like a new discovered pearl over the area. He began to look around, he could see the moths dancing from tree to tree. he watched in envy at these fliers, sticking his tongue out at one which landed on his cheek. "Bah! Get off mee~" He said, in a mock whining tone.

That night, Mittrei was enjoying the moon just as much as her mothy companions. She didn't like to think of herself as brainless as they were in their rapture of the moon but she had to admit... it was quite stunning. If she thought her wings might reach that high she'd fly until she had reached that shining orb in the sky. "Hmph," she mused to herself in amused derision. "But it probably wouldn't look like much when you get there."
She beat her wings in slow flaps that glided her between the trees and over the leaves beneath her. She was continuing on this course when she heard the voice of what sounded like a petulant stallion. She landed and made the short trip around a tree, finding the stallion there on the other side. It wasn't hard to tell what had been bothering him with all the moths about.
"Maybe they're attracted to your shiny silver head." She gave him a smile that was half friendly and half mocking. He was a pretty boy all right.

Lucifer paused, staring at the mare whom had just graced his presence. "Well, hello there." He didn't know if she had been sarcastic or not. It's too hard to tell with girl, oh well. "My head's shiny?" He blinked, he'd heard his coat was great, but never shiny. "Well, uh.... your head's shiny too?" He gave her an awkward smile. "So, what's your name?"

Mittrei snorted, unimpressed by his attempts at... whatever it had been he was attempting with the return of the "shiny" remark. Knowing fully well that as a flutter she was much shorter than the stallion she drew herself up higher. She half-spread her wings to increase the effect of being larger than she was. It was a small amount of showing off but one that she usually felt necessary for introductions.
"My name? Shouldn't you be introducing yourself first before asking me that?" Her eyes glinted with amused deviousness. "But I suppose I'll play along. My name is Mittrei. I do hope that you'll tell me your name in return. If you don't I might just have to come up with something myself to call you."

Lucifer blinked. "My name's Lucifer Von Helson, pleasure to meet ya'!" He said with a sudden surge of enthusiasm. He stared at the female's wings, the way they loomed over him with those piercing colors, it intimidated him to no end.
"Excuse me for sounding ignorant, but are you what my elders call a flutter?" He tilted his head slightly to see more of her wing. It was quite a spectacle to see a mare like this one, she reminded him of his mother. Especially in the attitude department.

"Lucifer va-what?" she muttered to herself after he had made his introduction. With her short two-syllable name his seemed somewhat excessive. He was going to need a nickname if he wanted her to remember it. She rarely remembered anyone's name until she had met them a few times, especially the longer ones.
She snorted a little at the ignorance of his question. "You've never seen a flutter before? What rock have you been hiding under. We really aren't that rare." She opened and closed her wings a few more times for show. "But yes, I am a flutter. A pretty obvious example of one, really." She leaned closer to him, her tone turning more secretive and conspiratous. "You can tell who is a flutter from the wings. We flutters have these sorts of wings, you know."
Which really ought to have been obvious to anyone.

"Just call me Luci." He said, a slight chuckle escaping his lips. "And no, I haven't ran into any flutters, or many other species, besides my father who has wings." Shook his head for a second. "So let me get this straight, your'e a flutter because of those moth-y wings, but my father who has normal wings is a wind." Lucifer thought for a second of what his mother called 'leather wings'. "And Kalona's are the ones who look like over-grown bats!" Lucifer had really been to himself the whole time, but it was more of a 'eureka!' moment, if anything else.
"Anyways, Thank you for telling me that. Now I won't seem like a fool to the next flutter I meet, if any."

For a moment Mittrei just stared at Lucifer, her red and orange eyes wide with dismay. His parents... they hadn't even taught him the basic differences between soquili types? She had grown up on an island with only regular soquili, herself, and the eventual invasion of a skinwalker. Even with that much of a sheltered life she still knew what the other breeds were. She'd never seen an angeni before but thought she could recognize one if put on the spot.
But this....
She shook her head in disbelief. "You really... really ought to have been taught this before now. Your parents didn't prepare you for the world very well." She took a moment, swinging her tail behind her. "But I suppose I'll give you the basic education. First!" She raised her voice on the last word, becoming strict and loud to command his attention.
"You are a regular soquili! You have no horns, wings, or any other strange appendages. Second!" She spread out her flutter wings wide and turned in a quick circle. "I am a flutter soquili. We're smaller than you regulars and usually have the wings of some sort of butterfly or moth. Sometimes we have wings of some other insect, like a dragonfly. Third! Winds!" She flipped her head in the direction of a bird sitting on a branch above them. "They have feathered wings like birds but only one pair of them."
"Fourth! Unicorns. They don't have wings and have a single horn growing from their forehead. They do healing magic and that sort of thing. Sometimes they have tails that looked like they were pulled off a mountain lion. Fifth! Kalonas." She let herself smirk a little when she reached that one. "You've already heard of them, at least. Yes, they have big bat wings. They also have horns, usually two pointy ones on the back of their head. They also have long snake tails and love to devour clueless stallions like you, Luci."
"Sixth," she was starting to grow tired of all this explanation and her voice had lost some of its exuberance. "Angenis. They have feathered wings too and a lot of the time have four of them. They're really big and really feathery and fluffy. Hard to miss."
With that, she was done."There are a few more types here and there but I'm not your teacher and don't feel like explaining them. Chances are good that you won't meet one for a while, anyways."

Luci blinked and began to take all this information. He narrowed his eyes a few times at descriptions he heard. "I see..." He shook his head slightly. "Bah! There's so many, and here I thought Winds and kalona's were the only species of Soquili, besides regulars, of course!" He shifted his vision and then looked back at her. "Care to go for a stroll?" He smiled awkwardly and hoped to change the subject.

"A stroll?" She raised an eyebrow in cattish amusement. "My my... Luci. Are you trying to flirt with me?" Teasing came as naturally to Mittrei as flirting and other such interactions did to others. If males gave her lines like that she figured that they had to expect her to poke a bit of fun at it.
She flipped her long bang over the opposite eye and looked at Lucifer with those red and amber orbs. "Do we really know each other well enough for flirting yet?" Would he blush when confronted? Would he stammer? Would he bluster onwards? She loved to see the different reactions that soquili would give her.
I bet this one is going to stammer. She thought to herself while watching and waiting for a response.

Lucifer giggled, more of actually humored rather then being nervous. "Oh trust me, I'm definitely not flirting with you, madame." He smirked. "But a stroll in the night might be fun, won't it?" He smirked slightly and gestured his head toward a trail of trees, moths fluttering carelessly around them. "Looks like it could be alot of fun, eh?
