[Foalen]

I've updated the gift section and added a special RP with Foalen and Anpo. smile

1. After a great deal of wandering Foalen winds up in the Kiwani 's teritory.
2. Foalen is given the honor of caring for a soquili basket
3. The basket opens and a bright and charming painted filly emerges. Foalen names her Ayita meaning "first to dance" for her bold and cheerful attitude.
4. Ayita makes her frist soquili friend when she meets up with Spirit Sprite and his mountian lion companion. Though it takes a little while for Tania to make up her mind on wether the outgoing foal is to be trusted.
5. Spirit Sprite gives Foalen the great gift of allowing him to have a ride much to the young shaman's delight.
6. Ayita attents the foal's picknick and encounter a hawk that wished to make a meal of a soquili familiar. She did what she could to try and stop him as Foalen healed the rabbit.
7. Ayita and Foalen go along on a trip to find the aincent burial ground and ease the spirits they find there.
8. Ayita runs along with Taima as he has his first experience in being ridden.
9. Intriqued by the idea of being ridden by her speical two foot Ayita attempts to give Foalen a ride with rather wet results.
10. Ayita gives Taima an apple to help show him how she feels about him.
11. Since Ayita has made it apparent that she would like to have Foalen ride her, the shaman begins training her to get her used to having weight on her back.
12. A fire comes to the valley and Ayita brings Foalen in to help. Afterwords he goes out to see what healing and ease he might give to those who were harmed in by the flames.

Personality: This apprentice shaman is thoughtful and seems reserved though he always has a ready smile. He is an enthusiastic dancer and knows many stories to share by the fire. He has achived a sense of inner balance and it shows in his self confidence and the way he interacts with those around him.

Back history: He has grown up in a village far from here raised at the knee of the tribes shaman with two others the shaman had taken in. There was a young girl who swiftly became like a sister to Foalen though the other was shaman candidate like Foalen.

Foalen knew with all of his heart that he was meant to be a shaman, little else would suit his quiet refective nature. But the eventual addition of the second shaman candidate made him wonder if the old shaman doubted his abilities. It was a worry for him as he held great respect for his teacher's opinions. Foalen had done well in his lessons and in the interpreting of dreams, but always there was a fear deep inside that he might not be up to the responsibility that came with the path of the Shaman.

As a final test of his students to see who would earn the right to succeed the old shaman when it was time, the two young men were sent out into the world on a vision quest. The one to return and recite his vison to the shaman with proof that it was a true telling would become the shaman's heir.
Foalen did not have a vision about going back to his village. Part of him was afraid he never would, while another part was secretly glad that he would not have to leave the new friends and family he was starting to make here in the Kiwani village. He had other visions, but discounted them as such because he hadn't yet realized that his path might not take him to back to those who raised him.

However without even realizeing it taking on the responsibility of looking after Ayita matured Foalen and brought him all unknowingly one step closer to his true path. Now growing to be increasingly relyed upon by the the villagers he finds himself unwilling to leave due to the duity he has as a shaman to those who have sought and continue to seek his aid, dispite the fact that he knows there are those in his past who do not know what has become of him.

Naeva

Name: Talasi (means Cornflower)
Sex: Female
Age: 15
Hight: 5'5"
Weight: 150 lbs.
Description: She has long raven'swing black hair- it almost seems dark blue in some lights- which she usually wears in a braid down her back to keep it out of the way. This braid is sometimes adorned with feathers or beads depending on her mood and whether she plans on doing anything strenuous.

She is built small and is quick and wiry. She is usually seen in a knee-length dress of soft deerskin with a soft fringe at the arms and hem, and she usually carries an old and much-mended belt pouch and the hunting knife which is her only inheritance from her family. Her only constant adornment, aside from the knife, is a small stone carving of a wolf which she wears as a pendant on a leather thong around her neck.

Back history:

Another member of Foalen's old tribe, she was orphaned when she was very young during a particularly harsh winter. Her parents and younger brother succumbed to a fever that the shaman could not cure.

The shaman took her in, however, and she had a happy childhood under his care. He guided her spiritual path, of course, and it was discovered that her totem was Wolf when Tuwa chose Talasi as a companion. The shaman gave Talasi a small necklace with a stone wolf-shaped pendant to commemorate the event.

When the shaman chose an apprentice, Talasi acquired a new big brother in Foalen, who she adores more than anyone in the world.

Knowing her beloved brother, she knew he was hurt that the shaman had chosen a second apprentice, but could no more understand the shaman's decision than Foalen could. She offered him what comfort she was able with her presence, since he seemed unwilling to speak of his pain.

When Foalen left on his quest, she was relieved at first; perhaps now the question would be resolved and he would be all right again. Many long days passed, however, and Foalen did not return. Many more days passed. The other apprentice had returned with his true telling, and still Foalen had not come.

She had always been a respectful and obedient child, and vision quests are not to be trifled with. The shaman, whom she loved as a father, had expressly forbidden her to follow Foalen.

And so she stayed, growing increasingly restive and worried as the weeks stretched into months, which stretched into seasons. On the anniversary of Foalen's departure, however, her anger at the delays overcame her and she left the tribe without a word, taking only her belt pouch, necklace, and her knife, her loyal friend Tuwa at her side.

Note: Talasi and Tuwa belong to Naeva. I have her information posted here in my teepee because she is directly related to Foalen and does not have a teepee of her own yet.

Spirit Sprite his caregiver Valeria and his familiar-Tania (Adult)-Spirit was the first Soquili Ayita ever met. She has known him for a while now and is quite fond of him and his familiar.

Taima Cholena and his caregivers Syrran and RadiantRuby (Adult)- After gowing closer and closer together Taima asked Ayita to be his mare and of corse she agreed. She would be foolish not to agree to a match with such a handsome fellow.

Wi Ile Anpo (Sun Burning At Dawn) - Harperking's Lakota Sioux character - Though she can't understand what Anpo says she likes this strong woman with a playful voice. She also smells like sweet corn wich is always a plus. Not to mention Wambli Zikala, Anpo's wind soquili. Ayita likes this vibrent bouncy bird like soquili as much as she likes Wambli's caregiver Anpo.

Kourin a blue roan and her caregiver Cihiru (Mare)-Ayita likes this quiet and reserved filly.

Sora and his caregivers: Aytia met Sora as a colt and has had fun playing with him. She feels rather maternal towards the little fellow even though he is now a father in his own right.

Delphia and her care giver Talencia are good friends of Ayita's (Mare)

Anpo made this beautiful pouch to replace the old worn one the apprentice Shaman carried around everywhere. Foalen was absolutly delighted and very greatful.

Dreams

It was warm and snug in the teepee dispite the chill of the night outside. Inside Foalen, the shaman's apprentice from a village far away from the Kiwani knelt by the brown and golden basket that the princess of the vilage given into his care only a short while ago. As he gazed down at the beautifuly woven basked he wondered at all the changes that had befallen him since he had reached the age of proving.

He had shown the apptitude for his chosen proffession at a very young age and had been taken in by the shaman of his village to raise as an apprentice. He barely remembered his parents save that they were warm and caring. He did well with the spirit worker and was an exellent student. Even so a few years after he had been accepted as the apprentice the shaman had chosen another.

This wasn't normal and it had given Foalen some cause for consern. The shaman had praised his learning and abilities so why had he taken on another apprentice? Was he not fit to be a shaman dispite everything his teacher had told him? Confused, hurt, and doubting he had kept silent trying not to show how discomforted he felt by the presence of the other apprentice.

Dispite his feelings he opened his heart to the other boy. After all it wasn't the other apprentices fault that there were two apprentices where there should have been one. They became good friends dispite the rivalry that was bound to develop with two of them trying to prove they were most worthy for the place at the shaman's side.

When the age of testing arrived and his master told him and the other apprentice to go seeking a vision he left doubt and uncertanty still dwelling deep within his heart. He wandered far and wide. Learning much as he travled through the forest and prairies though never once having a vision that told him to return to his home.

However his sleep wasn't dreamless. Intead of the villiage of his birth he saw horses, those beautiful children of the wind. Free and strong dancing their way across hills of green grass that bent in the wind calling out to eachother in joyful voices.

Looking down at the basket before him Foalen brushed the rim with his fingers and wondered if perhaps he hadn't had a vision after all. Though he wasn't at all certian he was ready for the responsiblity. Surely the Kiwani shaman was mistaken in his choice of caretakers. At least it was so in his case Foalen thought as his eyes lingered on the brown pattern made up by the weaves of the basket.

He had only just arrived in the village and didn't even have a teepee of his own. And now he had so much more. Desire to stay and care for the amazing creature he knew to be in the basket was powerful though it was mixed with the fear that in taking this path the one he had thought he would follow for most of his life would be closed to him forever. It gave him pause and made his out reaching hand tremble in response.

Then a thought came unbidden did his old master know the fate that was in store for his student? Was that why he had taken on a second apprentice and set the dream seeking task? If so it would explain a great deal.

Foalen let his hand rest on top of the basket then a strange feeling creeping over him. He was still confused and unsure as to what the spirits had in store for him. But it was comforting to think that perhaps it wasn't his abilities or loyalty that the old shaman had doubted. From somewhere deep inside he could feel the healing of an open wound he known he had.

Unbidden a smile came to the young man's lips as a single tear rolled down his face onto the basket. For now he would stay, he could still follow the path of the shaman in the future. But for now it was enough to know he was accepted and even respected.
