Beneath the great volcano at the center of the world lies a formerly buried ancient temple. It's catacombs stretch deep into the earth with halls illuminated by magma and passages patrolled by hostile spirits of earth and fire. Many perils of monster and trap await those who enter unprepared.
Beyond the temple are molten caverns that twist and stretch deeper into the earth. Creatures once thought to be lost to this world brave the intense heat and confines of this searing underworld.
Deeper still, lies the citadel of the the leader of the enraged earth and fire elementals.

Hrothgar stared down a fairly long stairwell stretching deep from the doorway. His path was poorly lit with wall braziers and the occasional gap to a lava filled river below. He shook his head to clear the distraction ahead and turned around. "I don't have time for this now. I probably better get back." he pushed around his golem and hurried out of the temple.

Hrothgar awakened and sat up. He had no idea how long it had been since he was last conscious or moving. The magma illuminated brick walls and ceiling made it fairly clear to him where he was. He shook his head and groaned as he slid off the stone table and stood up. Stumbling a bit, Hrothgar made his way to the floor and caught his footing. He looked at his arms and chest realizing his burns had healed, he had fully recovered with not so much as a scar remaining.
After leaving his chamber, Hrothgar found himself entering a large summoning area. He looked up at the open crater above him and smiled. "Smoldar must have been looking out for me." He chuckled a bit. The familiar sound lured his Golem over from across the way. As Obsidion approached Hrothgar, it stopped and held out his weapons, offering them to him.
"Thanks Obsidion.", Hrothgar took his weapons in hand and placed them in his harness over his shoulders. He nodded to the stoic golem and started toward the exit. Obsidion followed.

Hrothgar came to the bottom of the long magma illuminated stairwell of the entrance. It was a large room with an open gate and a set of guardian statues standing at each side. Being as it was his second time this far in, Hrothgar didn't really pay attention to the surroundings before and wondered just how far in he was the first time. He continued through the gate with Obsidion following behind. As Obsidion entered, the bars of the gate dropped into place slamming shut. Hrothgar glanced back briefly before continuing. "No turning back now."

After some hours of walking Hrothgar noticed himself not so much in a temple as in winding caverns within a magma chamber that seemed to stretch endlessly into the earth. It was to be expected that he never saw a human or anything of the sort within the molten tunnels. All that seemed to walk below, were fire elementals, earth elementals, lava beasts, and hard shelled creatures. It was almost like being on another planet.
As the heat was getting unbearable and the orange glow lighting was getting bothersome, Hrothgar found himself in a massive opening. Off in the distance was a tremendous castle built into the side of a mountain. Seeing as how there weren't any other things to go on, Hrothgar continued straight ahead toward the castle figuring Smoldar would be inside.

At the castle gates, a gargantuan figure of cooling rock stood, hunched over and standing on all fours. It spotted a curious looking giant and golem approaching the gate. Following its usual job, took a step forward and held out a hand as a sign to stop. "Halt! State your name, stranger!"

Hrothgar paused seeing as how he had been disrupted by this molten guardian of sorts. He stood feet together and spoke up, "Hrothgar Slaterage. I've come to see Smoldar." Obsidion followed suit on military attention stance.

"Really, a fleshie like you wishes to seek audience with our god?", he touted, beginning to pace back and forth as it leered at the newcomers. Comming to a pause, it turned away from them briefly. "I remember we had a giant held in our care at the temple some time ago, and that name sounds familiar...", he turned around, "...no matter, I will crush you anyway! DIE!", he shouted as he swung his clublike arm down at the two.

Hrothgar rolled clear of the blow but just barely. As the dust settled, he looked over and noticed his golem stood in place, having guarded and caught the crushing strike with its forearms crossed. As Obsidion uncrossed its arms, it grabbed the gate guard's wrist and turned, hurling the entire beast it over its shoulder. Hrothgar drew his weapons as he stood up and prepared to charge.

The gate guard scoweled at Obsidion noticing it blocked the attack. "You insolent child! You dare defy the great Vesuvius?!" He was quickly interrupted by the golem's show of strength arm throw that send him flying across the field. As he crashed into the ground, dust and ash kicked up, causing a brief cloud. From the cloud, he stretched his arms, reaching out to punch both foes at once.

Hrothgar didn't have to look over to his golem to coordinate an attack. He waited for the fist to come barreling at him and sidestepped to the inside of the monster's armspan at the last second. Putting his head down, he leaned into the charge and raced toward the center of the beast's body with his weapons raised. At the same time Obsidion deflected a fist with its hands before charging up on the outside. As they approached, Obsidion slapped the ground and rolled. It created a springboard under Hrothgar, launching him airborne and allowing him to strike at the monster's face with both weapons as he descended.

Vesuvius reeled getting struck across the head by the giant. As he stumbled backward, he flailed his elongated arms like tentacles as he retracted them. "Curse you, vermin!" As he returned to a stand, he slapped the ground, causing it to ripple like water.

Hrothgar backed up a bit but got swatted by an arm in Vesuvius' blind flurry. He stood back up and shook his head. Obsidion moved back toward Hrothgar to regroup. As the ground began to shake and ripple, the two of them jumped up a few times to avoid the peaks. After landing, Hrothgar began to form stone plating around himself. As he did, he called out, "Is that all you got?!"
