Hey guys, don't know how many of you have the Oban DVDs, but I've got the second Volume, and I gotta tell you that there's a bit of a surprise lurking in these DVDs, in the show itself!!
Or rather, several surprises.

It turns out that there were some moments that were CUT from the TV version of OSR that none of us have seen! It seems Jetix found some reason to find them unsuitable, but at in the end, they kind of make themselves just look overly paranoid. Just take a look, this is directly taken out of my journal entry on the subject over on DA, which is where I've been nesting this whole time. (If you see the name RedMage mentioned, that's a fellow Oban fan that I know from Fanfiction.net and DA. Also props to her that I realized that there were cut scenes!)
Episode 1: Apparently the fabled bottle of champagne that was what, green? turned back to it's original color in the DVD. Can't vouch for this one, personally, I only have the second volume.
EDIT: Actually, now I've seen the two version screen shots, and it was the bottle that Rick was holding when we first see him; and it was BLUE but is now green!
why it was taken out? Alcohol. Blah. Don't know if the kids would be able to tell the difference between it and any other drink, but meh.
Episode 14(?)Welcome To Oban: When Molly, Aikka and Jordan are discussing what happened to our beloved Toros, it is ACTUALLY CONFIRMED that Toros lost his head as punishment for failing to beat the Earth Team.
"Literally", Aikka actually says, as he does that hand-across-the-throat gesture. It may just be me, but seeing him do that is just hilariously AWESOME.
Why it was taken out? I assume because it was talking about not only death, but exectution of a character. That or they just wanted to deny Aikka a part of his Awesome-sauceness by taking out that little gesture. D:<
Episode 16, Nervous like Ning and Skun: The fabled jumping Coffee. Here, at the end before Aikka shows up to take Molly and Jordan on a trip to the Drudger procession, Jordan hands Molly a mug of Coffee(Come on, now, we all know it was COFFEE, ANYWAY!). In the TV-safe version, it goes straight from Jordan offering it to Molly accepting and thanking him. Apparently, the awkward cut is where the "jumping coffee mugs" come into play.
But what was taken out, was Jordan basically saying, "Here, have a cup of JORDAN'S JAVA JOLT."
Why it was taken out...? NOT A FREAKIN' CLUE. It's just COFFEE. JETIX YOU CONFUSE ME D:
Episode 19, The Origin of the World: Aikka readies himself to shoot down the Earth team, Jordan gets ready to shoot Aikka, Molly intervenes, Jordan tells her once more that Aikka's no more than a puppet, the shot goes back to Aikka before changing back to MOLLY, who then says, "Would you rather we shot each other down instead??"
Now, this is either directed at Jordan, in which case it shows that she does NOT want the events that happened in episode 8 to happen again, and she understands that if either one of these boys shoots at the other, then the other WILL fire back, in the end only hurting the both of them.
Or, it's directed at Aikka. In which case(which acutally struck me when I first watched it), means kind of an "I know you're hurting, but I am too" sort of thing aimed at him. Since we do know that one of the main threads of this episode WAS Molly's relationship with Aikka, how hurt she was that he rejected her at the beginning, but how much she still understands and knows that this isn't the real him("I bet, deep down inside, Aikka hasn't changed a bit.") So, I don't know if I'm even expressing this right, it is just one of those things that jumped at me as something emotional and striking.
I can't really see why they took it out. Honestly, I can't. and RedMage makes a point in that leaving it out kind of glorifes what Jordan has to say, like giving him the last word of the argument, meanwhile giving a sort of Naivety to Molly, in the sense that she appears to only blindly trust Aikka, the whole, "Don't Shoot!" and "He hasn't really changed," things that COULD sound naive in the proper context. The line is kind of what connects them and makes them strike you and shows that she DOES understand Aikka and what drives him. Depending on how you read it, too, it could also be one of many of her little emotional bonds to Aikka.
Episode 23, Cruel Like Kross: When Kross is talking to the other Crogs, he claims that he will become the Avatar and they will follow him. The part that got taken out here is that he says after that, "Or Die in Defiance!"
Why it was taken out? Meh. Death threats? *shrugs*
Episode 24: Kanaletto's Revenge: Ning and Skun are looking for everyone, when Ning shouts out, "If this is another trick, I'll Rip Satis's heart out!!"
Obviously the ripping out of people's hearts is a big no-no for a Kid's channel.

So, what do you guys think? Love the extra scenes, hate em? seen these, seen other things? got any thoughts on the Molly/Aikka/Jordan theories? Theories on why certain things were taken out? Theories on why Coffee is offensive? (lol)
