I want to know what it takes to install a set of Schaller straplocks on my Les Paul. I need to know whether it's as simple as screwing the old buttons out and screwing the new buttons in, or if it would be best for me to take it to a tech.
Also, has anyone had experience with either the Line 6 Spider Valve HD100 or Fender Super-Sonic amps? My local music store is having a giant sale (everything's like at least 40% off) and I am looking to buy a new amp before the sale is over, but before I do I would like to hear some opinions on either of these amps.

Thanks!

Yeah, you just un-screw the old ones and screw the Schaller's right in. I use 'em. Pretty good.

As for the amps, Those two amps really aren't my thing. 'course, this depends on all what you play. Just try out as many amps as you can.

Ya the strap locks aren't tricky or anything unless you strip the wood which with strap locks you probably will.
i suggest filling in the hole with super glue before you screw in your locks, it's what i did and the stripping stopped, just like anna nicole smith.. ninja too soon? ut-oh....

and as for the amps, it depends. fender is really good if you're into a good blues tone in a band.
but line 6 however sounds very digital and sometimes does'nt mix well with drums and bass.
though line 6 is the way to go if you want amazing tone by yourself. it's more of an opinion thing in this situation.

I agree Fender for blues, as far as the Line 6, I have the Spider II, but I have heard the Spider Valve is better for tone. I've always liked my Line 6 and have been pleased with it for the most part. I use it to do some direct recording and it sounds good in the final draft. So I guess it all depends. Best advice like someone else said. Go try it. Bring your guitar in and try them out.

As far as stripping the wood- a good remedy is stickin a toothpick in the hole and then screwing them in. That way the threads have something to dig into

The Fender Super-Sonic isn't exactly a blues amp. It's more like Fender's foray into the high-gain market. Also, the Spider Valve isn't digital like Line 6's other lines. It's a half stack with an all tube head designed by Bogner.

I guess I will just have to try each out, then. I've tried the HD100 and it sounds absolutely great, the only problem being that while my teacher was adjusting it (he was free before my lesson started, and I had never worked a head-stack configuration vefore), and he just barely bumped the master volume, and the thing got LOUD.
