Daemon waited patiently at the spot his daughter had told him to stay, he huffed to himself, held his head proud sitting back on his haunches, blue eyes scanned around the area. His daughter, his youngest daughter had fallen for a boy, a..male, he couldn’t come to terms to the fact that his children were grown up and no longer the small clingy little furrballs he missed now. Missed playing with them, watching them, letting them tug on his tail when they wanted to play and he was more than less enthused.
But he made a promise to her now, a promise that he would meet this male that she had grown accustom to liking…love, how could his youngest daughter find love at such an age. Daemon felt old, and out of it, his little girl…
Murasame was nervous about this meeting, though he had met Tearh’s mother, and she seemed nice, seemed to understand, at least from what Murasame saw. He felt such a emotion for Tearh it was hard to explain and put into words, young love, was what he settled on, but a love that would last a lifetime. Now he was venturing to meet the final stride, to meet her father. Tearh loved her father so, and Murasame respected it, and knew that this was the final step to determining he and Tearh’s future together, this was important.
He wanted to make the best of impressions on her father, wanted him to understand that he loved Tearh with all his heart and would take care of her for the rest of his days, that he would keep her safe, and happy.
Daemon saw an approaching figure in the not so near distance, dark in color over a white basecoat. From this distance, Daemon kept his cool, but he knew soon enough he would have to meet face to face the love of his youngest daughter’s life, so it seemed. He sighed, kept himself at a cool, he did not want to scare the boy away, he just wanted to make sure that this boy was the right one for Tearh, that this boy would keep his daughter more than happy for her life as Ruffian kept Daemon happy always.
He settled himself, sitting on his haunches in the grass, not changing to sit on the slate at this side, he figured that it would be best for them to be at the same groun, to make it seem that they were equal though Daemon was indeed her father, and ahd some say. But his daughter had pleaded with him to be nice, to do this for her, and for her, Daemon would meet him.
As Murasame approached Daemon, white with black markings on his shoulder and face, Murasame gulped, but kept himself level headed, he needed to appear responsible, strong, intelligent, he needed to make the best impression he could. This was important to him, and Tearh, and would decide what would happen with he and Tearh for the rest of their lives. As he drew closer, Murasame came to a halt several feet from Daemon, and lowered his head in a respectable bow, “It’s a pleasure to meet you sir,” he said with formalities within his speech.
He had to do this right, though he was nervous, anyone could tell. He then sat back on his haunches, eyes raised to meet Daemon’s, and he gulped again, what should he say now? “I’m Murasame.”
Daemon offered a slight bow of his head to the boy, watched him as he approached, watched as he tried to keep his figure respectable, strong, but he knew the boy was nervous, he wanted to make a comment, say something, snicker, but no, he made a promise to his daughter he would keep. “Pleasure to finally meet you as well Murasame, and don’t be nervous boy, Tearh spoke with me of why you wanted to meet, it takes a big lion to do this, and I understand you are nervous, but do not worry.”
He watched him, stayed silent for a moment, gathered his thoughts, “Truth is, I wanted to meet with you as well. Tearh is my youngest daughter, I’m protective of her as you probably already know, it’s a father’s interest to know who she has feelings for, and I want to make sure she’ll be happy.”
“I’m sorry sir,” Murasame said pulling his paws to rest right next to one another, touching ever so slightly, though he kept eye contact, and did not lower his gaze, Strength in his eyes, honesty, that’s what he wanted to show in his eyes. “I understand sir, and I’m glad you understand why I’m nervous, I care deeply for your daughter, I just want to make a good impression, “ he said with a sincere smile.
“I can understand your wanting to meet with me, and I with you. I want to know tearh’s family, have them know me, and of course, if anything, ask me anything they wished to know,” he said with a definite nod. He would answer any question or questions Daemon might have for him. Murasame had nothing to hide.
Daemon nodded, and gave a smile. At least the boy..Murasame, knew his place in comparison to himself. At least he knew the troubles Daemon had to believing, and coming to terms with that his daughter was grown up, and would have a mate, and perhaps even a family of her own one day.
Flicking his tail, he listened to Murasame’s words, nodded, and blinked, the sun high overhead warming both of their backs. “Good impressions are important, as well as getting to know one another, from what I’ve seen of you in this short time, I know you are true to what you speak, and you are honest, just…Tearh, she’s my little girl, and I want to make sure you will keep her safe and protected.”
“Of course, I understand,” and Murasame smiled. This wasn’t as scary as he had pre-thought it might be. True, he knew that Tearh’s father was extremely over protective, but he also knew that Tearh was sweet and kind, and that trait could not be just from one of her parents, it had to be from the way her parents had raised her from a cub, and it was obvious that Daemon had a part in it as well and Tearh’s mom.
“Of course I will have her be happy, for all of my days. I will keep her safe, I may not be a god, but I can hunt well, I am social, my family is quite accepting, and I love your daughter sir, I would never do anything to harm her or have her shed a single tear."
Daemon stayed silent and listened to Murasame's words and nodded his head with the boy's statement. A lion of his word, at least from what daemon knew, Tearh never spoke ill of Murasame once, and seemed to adore him with all of her heart.
Daemon stood and smiled at Murasame and gave a nod of his head, white mane falling into the view of his light blue eyes, "As far as I can see you are a great lion for my daughter." Daemon knew Murasame would keep her happy always. "You have my blessing."
Murasame gave a smile and when Daemon stood, so did he, and he listened to teh words that rolled from Daemon's tongue and he wanted to jump in excitement, and happiness. "Thank you, thank you sir!" He said with a wide grin on his maw.
He had to go tell Tearh.
Daemon chuckled and turned a bit from Murasame, decided now was the best time ot head back to the den, to Ruffian, and have Murasame go off to tell Tearh who Daemon suspected was not hiding far away from where the were conversing.
"I know your dying to tell her, so go ahead, and welcome to the family," Daemon said with a smile and began walking towards home.
Murasame smiled and didn't wait one moment longer, he gave a smile and darted off towards the spot under a lone cicada tree where he and Tearh would meet during the evenings. Everything had gone so well, welcome to teh family, Daemon had said, and Murasame could not feel happier.
Welcome to the family.
