I'm sure I'm not the only one (hopefully) but it really irks me when companies use animals in their commercials where the commercial is about eating that animal.

A&W's Chubby Chicken
Dairy Queens popcorn shrimp
One restaurant (Fridays?) with the talking deer and moose head
Real California Cheese's happy cows (which, apparently during a dry spell many died from dehydration a few years ago)

Do these commercials bother you? Do you think a chicken would sell itself out to A&W? What would the other chickens think of it?

Okay, A&W makes root beer, but is it also a resturant? If so, i've not seen one in my life. sweatdrop

It does irk me
Chick-Fil-A is sometimes cute and sometimes offensive

This one was always a little scary, barn yard neighbors turning on each other =/

OH GAWD ANIMAL FARM!!! Kill the pigs! Kill the pigs! xd

Yep, A&W not only makes quite good root beer, but is also a fast food chain. I think it's a small step up from McDonalds.. but I haven't eaten fast food for several years now.

Speaking of barn yards, there was this one commercial of a sandwich and a hen walked up to it and saw that it was made from her friend/husband/lover and started crying. Now that's disturbing. I'm glad I don't see that commercial anymore.

I hate commercials in general...they annoy the crap out of me, there are so many of them in one program.

The other night i was watched National Geographic and it was after 12am, then i saw this black hook up phone number come up and it has some half dressed black girl saying sensually 'I dont want to go out tonight, i wanna talk to Atlanta's Hottest singles...', why would someone watching NatGeo want to call them? Can they elaborate to me more on the Aztec Empire than my programme? stare

blaugh That's priceless. I'd totally write National Geographic and work that sentence in.

I like Spike TV due to the FIVE back to back episodes of CSi. But when the first one starts, you get the same three stupid commercials five times. It's like I'm stuck in a time loop.

Some of these are a little disturbing and ironic when you think about it.

I've seen some vintage ads that far more disturbing. Like a French sausage ad featuring a pig cutting itself into sausage.

See it and more disturbing advertisements here.

But to be fair, it doesn't take the edible animal itself to make a food advertisement hideously creepy. These vintage ads did it with the children.

Also, am I the only one who finds ads with anthropomorphic vegetables portrayed the same way equally disturbing?

EatLiver.com = Pirhan's new favourite site.

Happy pig making itself into sausage = deeply disturbing.

What I find unsettling about animal ads is that they're always portrayed with human characteristics. They talk, they have the same lingo, most of the time they walk on two feet. What I feel this does is that it removes what they really are and further deepens the separation of humans to real animals because real animals lack the ability to talk and walk on two legs.

Those ads are creepy =|

I also saw that girl smoking 'Smoking Is Believing' XD

As for the anthropomorphic vegetables, are you against all of them or just the ones cooking meat? I liked Veggie Tales as a child ninja
