I've been having problems with my computer recently. For about 2 years I've been able to use, quite successfully, the language bar and switch back and forth between writing English and Japanese. Yet recently my language bar has decided not to work.

If I click on it, one of tho things happen. 1) Nothing, I click the Japanese button, but the bar still says English and I still type in roman letters. 2) The bar switches to Japanese, but I can't select the way that I want to type. I mean, I can't choose the hiragana input that I'm used to. It switches my keyboard to a Japanese keyboarded (which I am not used to and it confuses me).

Any thoughts? I have a desktop that runs Windows XP and I don't know much about computers. This is really starting to annoy me, so any help would be much appreciated.

The second problem always happens to me too. Except for the part that it turns my keyboard into a Japanese layout, I simply can only do direct input with no options to change. It seems to be completely random, sometimes it'll do it and I'll restart and still nothing fixed, but I'll go to bed and wake up in the morning and BOOM it's fixed. At first I thought maybe I was hitting a key on accident but eh... it really does seem to do it at completely random.

Hopefully someone can help us out ^_^

You should try:

1. Reseting your language bar. (As in, take it off and put it back on.)

or

2. (When this happens to me I..) Make sure the little thing is blinking to show that you are going to type in the box. {Looks like an I} Then select your preferences.

If that doesn't work, then you may want to check the language bar settings, or possibly re-install the language pack.

Hey all. I am using someone else's computer and it seems to NOT want to accept the IME Japanese deal. I did some research online and found a Firefox add-on that allows me to type in Japanese.

It is called Kitsune 0.0.4. I find it easy to use. It is a stop and go input method but I can still type what I need to and use kanji also. Look it up on the Firefox website.

I do have to tell you that it is listed as experimental and you will have to log on to the Firefox website to download it. I have used it for over three weeks now and have not had any weird happenings or slow downs on this computer. Current I have 15 add-ons and have had no ill effects. If you do choose to use this great add-on do so with caution.

i have that on my p and it appens ever once in a while but i think u simplly have to play around with it for a while. thats what i do when i have that truble. i hope this helps.
