His little legs were getting longer as Kairav could now stand farther into the ocean than he previously could. This made him smile happily at the prospect. The waves slowly rolled past him before crashing into the shore. Water dripped down off of the fur on the top of his head.

He had just gotten done playing with the fish, chasing them through the waves. Although, he had just never been fast enough to catch them. With the sun overhead, he was warm enough even being soaked as he was. Perhaps he should go and get one of his siblings to play in the water with him.

They had a home at last, a home, a pride, somewhere to live and to grow up. It made the youngster smile as it had taken such a long time for them to find somewhere. He could see that his mother was happy and if she was happy he was happy. They had a rather large family but they were all so close and it was just lovely, even though he didn't know their father and his mother would probably never see him again, he didn't mind. He was happy.

Today he ran out of their new den and towards the sea, he had been laying in having a nice long sleep but he had woken up now and ran down to the water. He loved it, running along, chasing the waves. His mother had warned him not to get too close to the waters edge just because it could be a bit rough but he didn't mind, not in the slightest.

As he reached the water he spotted another youngster, about his age.

"Hey!" He shouted out as he bounded over in the direction that the other youngster was in. He didn't care about safety issues, he was part of the pride now and ever so happy to be.

Ears flicked at the sound of another calling out. Kairav's attention shifted from the crashing waves to a figure heading his way. Another juvenile, just about his age he figured. At least that's what he was thinking, because the other looked just about his size.

With a friendly smile, he walked a bit out of the water towards the newcomer. Not recognizing the other, this must be someone new to the pride. "Hi!"

Chuju was glad the other youngster came out of the waves a little to talk. The waves made a lot of noise and Chuju found it hard to filter voices from the sounds of the waves.

"I am Chuju! The nice lioness said we can live here from now on so this is my new home!! Do you live here to?" He was an innocent boy. His mother was always so kind and loving that the youngster had no reason to come across as anything but innocent and sweet. He was a cub and that was what he was happy being!

When the waves were barely reaching his legs, Kairav looked at Chuju happily. He listened to the other's words, taking them in. Ah! So the other youngster was new to the pride. That would explain why he's never seen him before.

At the other's question, he nodded. "Yes, my family lives here," And then he introduced himself, "I'm Kairav. It's nice to meet you, Chuju." He shook some of the water slightly from his head before he smiled, "Have you been here long? Have you played in the waves? There's so many fun things to do here!"

Chuju smiled and shook his head. "No we only became members the other day. We were living a little way up the shoreline from the pride but mother kept us away from the sea in case we had to move suddenly, she didn't want to fish us out." He chuckled a little as an image of himself like a fish and his mother trying to catch him entered his mind.

"Have you always lived here?" Chuju guessed he had lived here for a long time because he seemed to know the fun things to do and maybe they could play with each other? That would be fun! He could have a friend who he could always find to play with. It would beat playing with the sisters and his older brother was always off hunting and stuff.

His ears perked forward, Kairav was curious. There were new members in the pride now? He would have to go and meet the others as well. Plus, tell his parents about it. He knew they'd be curious about any newcomers to the pride.

"That's cool...there aren't too many cubs around here to play with." He said before nodding his head, "Yup! My siblings and I were born here. My parents though, they're from somewhere different," He paused briefly, "Have you looked around much? There are plenty of cool places to play."

Chuju listened intently. He had siblings? Well at least there were some to make friends with in the pride!

"Explore? No not too much. Only round here and by our new den. Mother said we can explore some more but I just haven't. The sea is so pretty its nice to just sit and watch it!" He smiled and laughed, "Could you show me some cool places?" He could hope? Iit looked like he might have a good friend in the making here so it seemed like a good idea to find somewhere nice to play!

Well, this was just shaping up to be something good for Kairav. Chuju hadn't gone exploring, which means that he could show his new friend all the cool places for the first time.

He grinned widely at Chuju, "The sea is very nice to watch, especially at night. You have to see the sunset and the sunrise, there are so many colors!" With a nod, he stepped a bit away from the water and Chuju as he shook out his coat. He turned his attention back to Chuju as he motioned the other juvenile to follow him, "Alright! I'll show you one of my favorite places to go see. It's not too far from here."

Chuju smiled, he wasn't sure his mother would let him out that late to see the sunset but he could always drag her down here right? He smiled and nodded. Yep that seemed like a good plan.

"I can't wait to see it!" He chirped. This was turning out to be an awesome home, his mother was right.

"oooo Whats your favourite place like?" He was curious, as he followed after the other juve. It was nice that he had a friend at last and even better that he now got to go exploring!

With a grin to Chuju, Kairav replied, "Oh, I'm sure you'll love it! My dad showed it to me not too long ago. He's a guard for the pride and stumbled across it." His tail flicked slightly as the pair travelled in the direction of his favorte place.

At the question, he paused to think about how to answer it. "They're all special in one way or another. But they are each awesome, that's what makes it special!" His gaze shifted back towards where they were heading as his face lit up. They were here!

It was a bit rocky, and he picked his way carefully. "Be careful, it can be a little slippery with the water." He cautioned before pointing towards where he wanted to bring Chuju. "This is a tide-pool. There are so many animals here, it's always different. And the water is so low, you can see the fish swim around. Sometimes, if we're lucky, there might be a starfish!"

Chuju listened as they continued to walk. Oh this just sounded too interesting. "Your dads a guard? Cool. I don't know who my dad is. I bet he is awesome though." Chuju smiled as he spoke, not really bothered about the fact that he didn't know his father, he never had done so the absent father didn't really bother him.

"Whats a starfish?"

Chuju was a bit behind on what fishes were what. What colour was a starfish and what made it different from any other fish? That and maybe he wasn't listening too well with the whole being careful as he managed to slip a few times but he clambered up again every time.

"It really is slippery aint it?"

With a nod of his head, Kairav replied, "Yea, he keeps a look out for everyone in the pride!" He was proud of his dad and of his job, but never boosted about him, it was not in his nature to be like that.

Though, at Chuju's question his eyes widen slightly as he gasped, "You don't know what a starfish is? They are, like, the awesomest things ever!" His gaze shifted too and fro in the tidepool before grinning from ear to ear. Ah! There was one. He picked his way carefully on the rocks, having been accustomed to their slimy-ness. "It is. The sea water makes it that way. Or at least, that's what I'm told." He wasn't too particular curious as to why it was like that, all he knew was that he needed to be careful with his footing.

When he got to where he wanted to be, he dipped one of his front paws into the water. Gently, he went to lift the small starfish up to show to Chuju, "This is a starfish. It gets it's name because it is shaped like a star. They can come in many colors, though the most common are tan or brown like this one."

Chuju looked at the rocks again before trying to follow his new friend though this time he was much more careful trying to move across the rocks. He didn't want to slip again! How stupid would that make him look?

As he got closer he looked at the starfish and tilted his head a little. Did stars really look like that? He thought they were just dots in the sky but he was sure that his friend knew more about things then he did and so he just nodded and looked at it.

"Wow it looks kinda cool." He wasn't sure if it was alive or not though and why it lived in water but he didn't want to just ask questions all the time. He could always ask his mother when he got home.

His face was lit up as Kairav nodded, "They are!" He gently placed the starfish back in the tidepool, the last thing he wanted to do was to hurt it by having it out of the water for too long. He had been told by his parents that fish cannot live out of water too long, like they could not live underneath the water for too long.

His gaze looked over the tidepool before spotting something else. "Oh!" He pointed at the small, black, spiky ball, "See that spiky ball over here? That is an urchin. I would pick it up to show you, but they are covered in those spikes." He said before looking back at Chuju, "The tidepools like this one have so many different kinds of fish. You always see something new every time!"
