Farai instantly took off right behind Ezuzu, panting softly as he ran. Sure, he'd been taught to fight and he wasn't too bad at it, but he hadn't had in a long while, so he wasn't used to it anymore.
Once the cheetah stopped, he did too, coming up beside her. Looking down, he saw her bleeding paws and winced in sympathy. "I'm sorry I got us into that..." he murmured quietly.

Ezuzu looked back at him and her ears lowered. "I'm sorry I followed you" She said sharply and got up, leading herself into the water and placing her hurt paws in it.
She looked back at him and sighed. "Why did we go there and not get your friend? All that trouble we went through just go go back to square one?" She questioned and leaned over and started to drink some of the water.

"I ... didn't realize it would be that dangerous," Farai replied - which was true. The only part that wasn't true was about the friend in the first place. He felt rather bad about lying to her now ... but at the same time, he didn't want to admit to the lie. If he did, she'd probably just leave.
Padding slowly closer, he nudged her shoulder gently with his nose. "Let me see your paws...?"

Ezuzu sighed. "Something should have told you it would be, you lions got alot of drama going on" She said and took her right front paw out of the water and moved it around a bit, she looked at him when he nudged her for a moment then sat up on her hind legs and showed him her front paws.
"Sure...go on" She said and kept staring at them, moving her fingers around a bit.

Farai looked at her paws with a frown and then carefully moved to lick at them gently. He wondered exactly how she'd managed to do that to herself - since he hadn't been watching her the whole time.

Ezuzu watched him for a minute and she felt her face heat up, she pulled her paws away and put them into the water and looked down at him. "Why are you doing that? I can lick them on my own you know" She said sharply and looked at him.

"I uhm... sorry," he murmured. "I didn't mean for you to get hurt." He really hadn't... but he did wish that he hadn't lied and dragged her along in the first place.

She shook her head and looked away from him, her face hid a blush under her fur. "No, it didn't hurt....it's just..." Her mind raced and she started to lick her paw. "If I were this rabbit friend of yours I would be very disappointed in you, I mean...you just gave up on it without a second thought." Her words were cold, very striking...she didn't care. "So I bled for nothing?"

Farai bristled at that. "I haven't given up! I just... have to try again later. And I'll probably go by myself. So I ... don't hurt anyone else."
He drooped a little at that. Maybe... hm. Yes, he could go off and kill a random hare later on and then cry over the body and say the demons had killed his friend.
That would get rid of the problem. Hopefully.

Ezuze shot him a glare then stepped out of the water. "I'm going home. Deal with your own problem on your own time. Don't waste mine." She didn't quiet know where home was for her, but anywhere else was good enough for her. She didn't care if he lived or died at this point.

Farai winced. He hadn't meant to make her run off... and now he felt bad again. Dammitall.
"Wait, please..." he called, getting up to bound after her. "I'm sorry ... I just ... don't want you to get hurt again. It's my fault," he murmured, hanging his head.
"I ... at least let me walk you home?"

She heard how sorry he was, how stupid she felt for agreeing to go with him. "Fine, just catch up, I'm not slowing down for you." She limbed badly now, the wound didn't bleed anymore but it still hurt like hell.

There was another little wince at that, but Farai moved a bit faster and then almost hesitantly offered her his shoulder to lean on if she wanted to.
"So where are we going?" he asked after a few minutes. "Do you live close?" He was a little worried at how much she was limping, but he wasn't going to say that out loud and risk making her upset again.

"It's a half a days walk." She said then smiled. "No I don't live far." She kept walking, trying to make it seem like she wasn't in pain. She looked at Farai then smiled. "You're worried about my foot, aren't you?" She guessed, he seemed more...softer then usual, then when she first met him.

Farai hesitated just a moment, wondering if telling the truth was the right ... sort of response. Because for some reason, he found himself wanting her to like him - even if only for a little while.
"I uhm... well, yes. I am," he finally said. "There are a few other places closer to here that are safe... if you don't want to walk that far," he suggested, carefully keeping his tone neutral.
