PRP for Kat and Mel. X3

---------------------

User ImageHe wore his signature sharp blue coloured clean freshly pressed suit, and clean freshly brushed shiney fur. Yes, now that he was all in order and tidy that morning, Phoenix Wright felt ready to take on the entire world if he had to.

But first, he had a hair problem.

"Damnit..." He grumbled to himself as he pulled at an unwaxed tuft of black hair, trying to flatten it down. It refused, and stuck straight up again, defying gravity. "Right," Phoenix said quickly, plucking up a comb and a bottle of extra-strength hair-wax from his dresser. "I'll get you. There is no escaping... THE COMB!" Icy blue eyes scowled in determination, glaring back at themselves into the mirror as their owner brushed his red comb through pointed jet-black spikey hair, grooming it all back into its proper spiked shape (although it's proper natural shape was a giant unorganized mess).

"That's better," Phoenix grinned as he picked up his red tie, casually tying a half-winchester knot into it, tugging it tight. "Now I really am ready to take on the world." He grinned at himself. "Heh." Phoenix hadn't been feeling himself lately. So much had gone through his head in recent days, and he had had to come to terms with several things that he didn't want to, including things about himself. But now that the mood had been passing, he felt a lot better.

"I wonder what's in the kitchen..." He grinned, wandering out of his room, his nose waffing curiously once he was out the doorway. His ears perked high over his head and he made a beeline for the counter in the kitchen, hoping to find something good to eat, such as donuts.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show."Mom? Mom, are you around?"

Xanul stepped out of a portal and surveyed the empty living room with an arched eyebrow. "...Apparently not." He mumbled. Judging by how clean it was, Ayako had probably cleaned up, and they had taken Kitsumi out. Or they were somewhere in their rooms and sleeping.

The half-Nobody sighed. He promised Fuu he'd help her, and spent time researching in grandfather's library, but his efforts were in vain. How could you track down someone by magic? It wasn't easy, and there was not a spell in existence that could do so.

Unless he had missed something.

His stomach growled and he sighed. He hadn't eaten yet, and he might as well do so, or else his mother would admonish him if she heard. If she was around.

He made his way to the kitchen and spotted a familiar figure. A smile broke on on his face. "Hiya Uncle Wright! Looking sharp!"

"Oh, hey there!" Phoenix said happily as he turned around to face the younger male, grinning at him. He gave him a slightly sheepish look shortly after and added, "You don't need to call me that... just Phoenix or Nick will do. Mister Wright, or Uncle Wright sounds too formal."

"Like it, huh?" Phoenix patted the sleeves of his coat, smirking. "I haven't worn it in a while and while it's good to go casual, I admit... it feels good to put the suit on again." His ears lowered. "I don't really know how I feel about all of this still, though."

He glanced to the counter, wanting to look for a distraction, or a change of subject. He soon found it, in the form of sugary donuts. A whole plate of them. He picked one up, stuffing it in his mouth, chewing shortly after, black tails wagging. "Want one?"

"Seen anyone else, yet?" He continued. "I think they're out. Edgeworth probably went out somewhere, knowing him.... probably looking for more tea." He paused, allowing himself a small amused smirk. "Same with the others, I think, minus the tea searching, of course. Saix likes to glare at me, I think he went out to glare at somebody else for a change."

He finally picked up the plate, offering it to Xanul. "They're cinnamon, mostly. Though I can see a few iced ones on there. Go on, help yourself. They're good." He grinned.

"Sorry Uncle...I mean Nick." Xanul's face mirrored his sheepish expression. "Been too used to it. I mean, I've been calling you that since I was a kit, and I still call Aunt Kitsumi and Uncle Edgeworth this way." He gave a slight chuckle, shaking his head slightly at the memories. "But I'll try?"

He frowned slightly. "You were wearing something else back then right?" He usually popped in and out of the house, and caught glimpses of the others about while talking to his parents and siblings. "Some cap and really casual clothes."

"Yes, please." He took one, and munched on it, swallowing a bite. "I'm not sure, it seems pretty empty. Have you seen mom?" She was probably out with Saix, or visiting the library or her children. Or even her great grandchildren. "Dad's still in a bad mood huh?" He grinned. "He hasn't exactly been happy, especially after hearing Zweix had kids."

"Oh the sweater and the toque? Yeah," He nodded. "I like it... going casual, that is. The clothes are soft and comfortable to wear and I don't feel like I have any responsibilities while wearing that stuff." He shrugged. "I don't even now, but.. uh, you know. I at least look useful in the suit, I guess." He frowned, wondering if Xanul knew what it was like to have a job, and then be unemployed. He quickly figured that he didn't and shook his head, pondering how else to explain. "I just don't want to feel useless, or like I'm not needed."

He found himself grinning again shortly after. "Well, well well... Saix's kid had kids? Well that makes him a grumpy old grandpa then, doesn't it? Heh. I wouldn't worry too much, he's probably just living up to the stereotype. The only thing he doesn't have is the cane, to whack people with." Phoenix chuckled, scratching the side of his head. "Uh... don't tell him I said that..."

He snickered momentarily at such a mental image.

"So how's life treating you these days?" He wondered. "Up to anything interesting? Anyone special in your life lately?"

"I guess." He laughed, shrugging his bare shoulders. Xanul didn't wear clothing except for one lone chain that dangled around his neck, so he didn't understand much about clothes. To those like his father and Phoenix, they seemed to dislike having their clothes taken off though. Something about being human...well, Trel and Theron wore clothes.

"You can help out around the house. Or just read. Grandfather has a huggeee library, have you ever seen it?" Kitsusagi didn't have jobs either, so it was a concept he hardly understood.

"Dad's grandchild had kids." Xanul corrected with a wry grin. "Xelon's daughter had three." And as usual, at the news that he was older, Saix had gone into a blank state and refused to talk. It was hilarious, yet worrying as well.

"Well, I met someone and offered to help her." He replied. "She's from a past life too, and she seems lost, separated from her friends. I promised to try and see if I could locate any of them." At the next question, the half-Nobody blushed slightly. If Phoenix was saying what he thought he meant...well, Yuffie had teased him a lot about having girlfriends.

"Nooo." He mumbled, shuffling slightly. "Mom said she thought I liked Orta though."

"Hey, I help around the house," Phoenix began quickly. "I do the vaccuuming, sometimes. And the washing up. I don't like wearing the pink frilly apron when cleaning, but I do it." He scratched the side of his head. "Reading? Your grandfather really keeps a lot of books around, huh?" He began to hum curiously. "Law books, maybe?" He shook his head quickly - who was he kidding? Phoenis wasn't interested in reading something like that. Heck, the books he had had back in his own office weren't even read. "What kinds of books does he keep around?" He suddenly found himself interested. It had been a while since he had done any serious reading...

"Wow..." He whistled impressively. "So Saix is a Great Grandfather now, huh? Scary..." Phoenix had to think about that for a moment or two. "You guys breed fast, huh? Being a Great Grandfather was almost unheard of back where I came from."

He listened quietly to Xanul's next set of words, his frown growing in size as he spoke. "Well, helping others is always good," He began, remembering the few times he had met lost kits and helped them while at the Mountain. "But watch out for girls. They're nice enough... but..." He hesitated. "I really don't advise getting a girlfriend. I did that once, and I nearly ended up dead. They're bad news...."

"Mom does that pretty fast with her wand." Xanul grinned. "And she doesn't need to wear an apron? Why do you?" He was trying not to laugh at the thought of Uncle Wri...no, Nick in a apron, and a frilly pink one, no less.

"He has a wide variety of books." He chewed on his lip slightly. "So he probably has those. I'll bring you there one day?"

"Yup." He grinned. Xanul himself was now a great uncle. "Probably because we grow up quite fast?" Josh was a sixteen year old, yet technically a teen in human terms.

His tails wagged slightly. He liked helping others, even if they were strangers. "I...no...I never really thought about it." Until Yuffie mentioned it. He added silently. There was the berserker factor to add in to the mix of not wanting to be a father. "Wait. Dead?" He straightened up, looking horrified. "What happened?"

Phoenix blinked in surprise at Xanul's comment over his mother cleaning with her wand. He still couldn't get over the fact that there were unexplainable powers here that were simply non-existant and fantasy where he had come from, even after all this time of being in the strange new land. He was considering asking about this when he was quickly distracted with Xanul's question.

"Oh, ah... why do I wear the apron?" He grinned sheepishly. "So I don't get dust or anything else on my clothes. I wish it wasn't pink and frilly, but it's the only one around here, so..." He shrugged slightly. "It does the job."

He nodded. "I'd like to go to this library," He admitted. "I'd like to see what kind of books you guys like to keep. I doubt I'll find anything about law, because this place has seemed pretty lawless so far... but we'll see. Maybe I could write a book on it, huh?"

Phoenix began to wonder if he had hit an awkward spot by asking Xanul about girlfriends and "special people" in general. He began to nod at his question, looking unhappy, realising that this topic had struck an awkward spot in him also. He inhaled and sighed, shaking his head.

"Yeah," He began. "I could have died. She had planned to poison me. I... well. She was my first love. Her name was Dahlia. Dahlia Hawthorne. I met her when I was in college," He paused, wondering if Xanul knew what college was, and quickly corrected his statement. "Er, when I was nearly an adult. I was in the local courthouse, looking at the archives in the basement when I met her. I had been looking there for information and before too long, she was there with me. It was love at first sight, or at least I thought so. At the time I thought she was an innocent and lovely looking young lady, and even better, she was wowed by me. I fell in love... and I thought she did too." He scratched the back of his head, looking quite discontent. "Then she gave me a pendant as proof of her love - a small glass ornament mounted in a love-heart and a gold chain."

"I didn't know that it was a bottle that contained poison," He continued. "She had poisoned somebody with it earlier that day, and she used me as a means to get it out of the courthouse without being caught. Problem was... I wouldn't give it back." Phoenix flicked an ear, smirking for a brief moment. "It was important evidence against her, but I kept showing it off to people. That made her angry. So one day, she stole some poison and put it in my cold medicine. When she saw me and somebody else arguing, she killed them and tried to frame me for the murder. If I had actually bothered to take some of the cold medicine that day, I probably would have died."

"I never want to see her again," He said finally. "Thankfully I never will, either - she's dead. She was executed for her crimes some years ago now." He sighed. "I don't mean to say that all girlfriends are going to be like that, but what I'm trying to say is..." Phoenix found himself idly tugging at one of his lower hair spikes, quite messing it up. Just what was he trying to say with his story and his experiences?

"Just keep a firm eye out for trouble, especially in regards to the ladies." He grunted. "Don't blindly fall in love with them. Spend time with them first, make sure they're safe, first. I made that mistake and it nearly cost me my life."

"These days, I prefer the company of my good friends." He grinned finally, feeling happy at the thought of those who genuinely cared about him. "And Edgeworth. He still needs my help."

"Well if you don't want to..." Xanul said thoughtfully. "You could always ask mom to clean your fur. She's fast and efficient." An amused smile crept on his lips. "Though I'd like to see you with it on...or even Dad." Oh wait, hold that thought. Saix would shred it into bits and probably try to kill him. If not, he would be in a very bad mood...something no one liked to see.

"There might. Trel's a human, and there are many varieties of books...so yeah." He flicked his tails idly.

"Eep." He made a face as Phoenix finished. "At least you were okay. She sounds pretty scary though."

"The last time I checked...I don't have a heart." He poked his chest with a paw, a small grin on his face. "But yeah, I'll try to keep whatever emotions I have in check."
