Okay, so I was talking to my best friend on Facebook earlier and she sent me a link to a thread in the NaNo forums that was like this. About 6 pages in I realized that a thread like that would be kinda cool for here. So...yeah. ^.^
Here are mine:
-A freind asks you what your story is about and it takes you an hour to explain the backstory, because otherwise the plot woudln't make any sense.
-It then takes you another hour to explain the actual plot.
-Your main character is in love with the Villain's apprentice, who's actually under a spell and a pretty decent guy.
-Your story is inspired by Tarot Cards
-In the case of said story, you constantly debate with yourself on whether your character should recieve a sword and dagger from the elves or the dwarves, keeping in mind that she's supposed to recieve a gold coin from the Dwarves for protection
-in the case of said story you constantly debate on whether or not your character should have use a bow and arrow/ cross bow, even though they aren't part of the Tarot.
-A character has an enchanted sword
-Said enchanted sword has a name
-Said enchanted sword has a magical spirit in it that the main character converses with on occasion and is possibly being guided by
-you take serious consideration to the elements, and then debate on just how many elements there are
-You get two of your plots confused because one is bassed on Tarrot Cards and in the other the main character's specialty is divination (can you tell I'm really into that kinda stuff? I sleep with my deck under my pillow and I'm not afraid to admit it)
-You take advantage of a project your Religion teacher assigned to finally work on inventing the religion for one of your stories (I actually did do that, when I was in the 7th grade...)
-You try to figure out which animal(s) would be most suitable as your character's familiar(s)
-You have a character trapped within a looking glass
-one of your characters is the currsed son of the evil witch tormenting the land
I'd write more, but I'm about to be kicked off the comptuer. bye!

[♪♪ I think I'm drowning, asphyxiated. I wanna break this spell that you've created. You know you write fantasy when... ...your characters talk to you incessantly and keep you awake at night. (Yeah, I'm talking about you, Amelia!) ...you wonder what kind of elemental you would wield. ...you have a weird dream and then quickly use it in your story. ...spend too much time thinking up names!
Actually, most of these are true for almost all genres. You're something beautiful, a contradiction. I wanna play the game; I want the friction. ♪♪]

-when you relize you have a plot hole and the solution involves a spell/ curse/ potion
- Whenever you question something about your story, your response is usually "screw it. It's my story! I can do whatever I damn well please!"

You know you write Fantasy when...
...when you spend almost an hour just staring at a sheet of paper/computer screen, trying to think of a way to write the beginning. ...when you have the image of your characters in mind before you even start writing.
(That's true for almost all genre's too.)
