A white and grey basket was sitting innocently in the pasture, minding its own business. The sun was warm against its top, and the little foal inside was quite enjoying the relaxing environment. She couldn't much remember anything besides the basket, but she found the dark inside quite nice. All she needed to do was sleep, and since she was tired a lot, that was just fine with her. Eventually she knew that she would leave, even now she was starting to wonder what made all the sounds outside her small home, but that would be in the future. Right now she was still scared of leaving her safety. But there was a new sound outside, and that was causing more interest to her. It was the same sound that she could make, but a little different, and the same scent as her, but again, a little different....

Nakia had been out on her own again, her mind bringing back the wonderful time she had spent with Dinyin just a few days prior. She blushed happily at the memory as she walked along to an unknown destination. Maybe she would see him again! Then again...their world was vast...finding him on foot would be difficult.
Perhaps he was over by his tree again! Nakia nodded to herself and was about to set off with determination when a flash of something white and black caught her attention. The young mare paused and backed up a bit, blinking at the colored spot resting just a few feet away.
"A....it's a basket...." Walking over, Nakia examined the bundle and nudged it gently before lifting her head and looking around. A little one was by itself...were the parents nearby?

All of a sudden the sunlight peaking through the strips of fabric that made up the top of her basket was blocked out. Lifting her head as much as the tiny foal could, she sniffed at the darkness, not realizing that a lack of light can't have a smell. But she did smell something! Something like her! Perking her ears a bit, though they rubbed against the edge of her basket in the cramped space. Just as the little one was about to settled back down to her continuous nap, her happy little space shifted. Had something bumped her?!? Quite startled at the experience, the young foal let out a little yelp, not a word in any way, but definitely a sound. That was the first time she had made a sound actually, which was also a new experience. Well this wasn't restful one bit! And there were sounds coming from outside, but she couldn't understand them....
Well, if it was going to bump her, then she would bump back! Shoving her still un-muscled leg towards one side of her basket, the little filly tried to poke back at what had poked her.

"Hello?! Is anyone there?! Excuse me?!"
Leaving the basket for a split second, Nakia cantered away and called out to see if the parents would come running or if anyone would answer. Sadly though, only the birds did...
With a worried snort, Nakia trotted back towards and stood over the small basket. Glancing from side to side, her mind brought back the small squeal from before...was it from the baby inside? Lowering her head, Nakia curiously sniffed at the strange basket before nudging it again this time being a bit more gentle.
'Where are your mother and father, little one?" She gently whispered to the creature inside, an instinct compelling her to stay with the bundle. "Don't worry..." She nuzzled the lid and blew on it softly. "I'll protect you until we find them, okay?"

More noises, nothing that the filly understood. But then the scent was gone and she was said and the basket set still. And then it was back! She was starting to become found of the scent, it smelled comforting.... But then she was bumped again, which would simply not do! Thinking to herself, she once more poked her hoof against the side of the basket, hoping that it would work against the bumping object. At least the bump wasn't as hard this time, but that didn't keep her hoof from hitting as hard against the side. Not that it was that hard to begin with, since it was difficult to get a lot of leverage without hitting her on body with a knee.
She heard the noises, which seemed to be closer than the previous noises, was the outside thing trying to communicate with her? Well it wouldn't do any good, it didn't make any sense. Then there was more bumping, but it didn't move her, so she didn't mind as much, and she wasn't going to try to kick the top of her home. She felt the warm air on her face as the outside thing blew on her basket. This also wasn't bad, since it smelled good, like the bottom of her basket but warmer. Maybe this outside thing wasn't so bad after all, if it would stop all the sounds that she didn't understand....

Dinyin found himself up and trotting around. This....was quite a surprise. Perhaps it was to burn off all the energy in him. It had lasted for quite a few days already. The dark stallion kept a grin on his lit up face and trotted around proudly, with his head held up high. He will see her again right? He has to. However he has yet to find out what this feeling really is. But deep in the stallion's heart he already knew what it really was. Dinyin just didnt know what she thought of him. Sighing, letting his head droop a little, that part worried him. Just because that day had happend, it coudl mean nothing to her. There it was....the voice. That song voice, he just could not forget. Heart started beating faster, he trotted towards it. A few blurry calls were made. However he wasnt sure to whom. Couldn't make out the words.
He soon foudn himself in the pasture. And Nakia standing looking down on something. Maybe she was eating? However, what was she calling for? The grass was pretty high from where he was standing, basket was nowhere in view. Dinyin trotted over and nudged Nakia from the bum and ran to the front of her. Then he saw it, a basket. What the.....does this mean Nakia is.....a mother? So shes....taken? Fear hit Dinyin's face and his heart immediately dropped. Not knowing what to say at the moment. [[I just wanted to say, very pretty basket 3nodding ]]

Nakia was examining the basket when the nudge came from behind, causing the young wind to neigh in surprise and prance in place a bit before a familiar flash of brown came into her line of vision.
"Dinyin!" Just the name rolling off her tounge caused her nervous energy from before to vanish into thin air. Her heart pounded happily for a few moments, but the expression on his face when the stallion spied the basket caused Nakia to pause. "Dinyin? Is something wrong?" She stepped closer to him, ears perked up in question as she glanced between him and basket itself...
Then it clicked. What? No... Did he honestly think...that this little one was hers?

Just as she was getting used to the new scent around her from the outside thing, another scent came along. She found it interesting, since it smelled like her and the other outside thing, but again a little different, and more different than the outside thing and her. What did that mean? Well it was certainly confusing for the little brain. And then more sounds, a new one, which made her heart jump a bit, but she got better quickly. She was starting to get used to the sounds though, almost liking hearing them. There was only so long you could sleep before it became boring.
Shifting around a bit in her basket, she ended up moving the basket a bit with her, since she seemed to be getting a bit too big for it.... As she was thinking about what she was hearing, she wanted to try the noise she had just heard, and a little quiet neigh came from the basket.

He smiled friendly. Trying to keep from running off and crying at his river. The little neigh made his heart go 'awe'. It sounded so cute. "Lovely...basket," he finally stated. Not sure what to really say since it was rather awkward for the two of them, specially him. Images of last and first time seeing her was all bring burnt by some evil imp inside his mind. "His father must be very proud eh. Haha, I remmeber my time being cramped up in a basket." Dinyin bent down to it and he whispered, "Hello there, can you understand me?" Speaking slowly. The stallion relifted his head and looked at Nakia nervously. "I give you my greatest congratulations. You will have one lovely foal."
Dinyin was looking down at it. He wasnt mad at whomever the other stallion was or her, but he was a bit depressed to the fact she was taken. He felt stupid for what he had done the last time they met. A fresh breeze rushed by and brushed against his body. Dinyin loved that feeling, specially in the hot days. The days where grass are as dry as the soil in the open field. Those days, Dinyin had to find his food in the forest under a shadow or turn to berries. Shaking his head at the thoughts in his mind, the dark stallion didnt want to look at Nakia as it would have sunken his heart more. The basket made him happy for them. However, it was still too painful. So he simply looked the other way.

Nakia smiled at the tiny neigh that came from within the basket. "It is very pretty, isn't it?" Nakia could see the distress that practically screamed itself hoarse in the air around him. She now understood why Dinyin was so sad...He actually thought that the basket belonged to her?
Silly stallion...Nakia wanted to have children with someone she loved, not just do it with a random stallion. Stepping closer, Nakia gently nudged Dinyin, nuzzling his shoulder as he faced away from her.
"Din...." Her soft was warm and gentle, a laugh woven into the words. "This child is not mine." She moved around and shoved her face into his, forcing the stallion to look staright at her as she spoke. "When I was walking this morning, I found this little one by itself. It is not mine, I promise you that."

The new sounds became much louder momentarily, and she felt the impulse to respond to it. She didn't know what they meant, but she could try making that other sound again. Neighing once more, this time a little more confidently, she flicked her ears around excitedly, anticipating more noises to hear and try to figure out. This new game was fun! Almost more fun than taking naps actually.... Which was really a given since that's all she had ever done before. But that new voice hadn't sounded as happy as the first one had.... That being said these were the only voices she had ever heard, so her judgement could be a bit off.
After that the voices quieted to their normal levels once more, and she simply flicked her ears around, trying to figure out if there was some meaning to them or if it was just random noise.

Dinyin turned red as Nakia stated this basket was not hers. However that did not mean that she liked him back. "Oh, uhm right. It looks just so much like you that I----I---...it just....nevermind." he turned around and sighed. But also a breath of relief was let out. The stallion tried to relax all his tensed muscles and let his heart rest. Now he was ready to face her. Looking back at Nakia made his heart feel fuzzy and warm. His smile came back, he tried smiling charmingly and look cool of some short. However, he bet on the outside he'd only looked like a fool. Dinyin would look like a fool anytime just to see her smile or laugh. "So....where are the parents of this little guy? Or uhm..girl....." Looking left and right seeing no adult soquili come charging at them to get away from its young. He sighed and stared down at it. Knowing Nakia would not leave it alone. Another smile came upon his face and he walked towards her to give her a sweet nuzzle as a better hello. "Its great to see you. I've...uh...missed you." pinkness spread across his face. A neigh was made by the basket again, or rather the foal inside it.
The stallion nudged the basket gently and raised his voice to a more feminine sound, "I'm Nakia and I love Dinyin." Dinyin quickly retreated away from the basket and trotted off laughing. Smiling from far away looking at Nakia. He was joking course. He had hoped she doesnt take it seriously and whip him across the face just because that really wasnt true. He sighed and let his head hang down to look at his darker legs. He remembered when he was a foal, so tiny his hooves were. Now, they were way bigger. His parents never took care of him really, sure they provided the home and food. However they never really taught him, then again his parents had done that to all their children, he wasnt sure why. It was the reason why his older sister disliked them right? He wasnt sure, she was kind of just born bad. The bad seed. However he did inherit his sister's dislike for their mama and papa. Their family did have loving however, it wasnt as horrid as Awnaety's own family that she had started. If Dinyin could raise a foal or filly, he'd gladly teach it everything he knows, that include love.

Smiling at her friend, Nakia glanced down at the little basket as the neigh came from within. "I-I'm not sure....I was taking a walk this morning and I saw the poor thing hidden in the grass..." Raising her head, the silver mare took a glance around the wide area with concerned eyes.
"I had planned to stay with the basket until the parents came back but...." Tears glimmered in her eyes. "It doesn't look like they're coming back." It broke her heart to think that someone would leave their child behind like this...So much that she didn't even hear Dinyin's little joke, she was much more intent on the little bundle of wicker laying at her hooves.
Poor thing...Nakia had never known what it was like to be left behind. She had always been protected by her mother, father and brothers since day one. And, even if she was away from her kin, her friends had always been there at her side. Being alone...it was something her mind just couldn't process! Reaching down, Nakia nuzzled the basket again. And since Dinyin had entered her life...well, lonliness was something that had been shoved into the edges of her mind; his warmth, his smile, his laughter, his affection...She blushed before glancing back at Dinyin. "What do you think we should do?"

Feeling another nudge, the foal huffed, a little high pitched breath of air coming from her vocal cords. Why did those outside things feel the need to push her around? Something in her mind told her that she should be scared of big outside things that could move her inside space, but the little one was too peeved at being disturbed again and again to worry about fear. In her frustration to communicate with the outside things, suddenly the foal let out a full whinny, surprising herself as much as anything around her. It was high pitched, but well voiced, and her ears flicked around wondering what had just happened.
More sounds were said loudly, and very close to her head. The previous ones had sounded like the source was closer to her hooves, but that last set of sounds was definitely above her head. This made the filly slightly nervous, but her irritation at not being able to understand them won over quickly enough. Of course the little one had no idea what a joke was, or the relationship between the two scent-and-sound-sources outside her safe place, but she would in time....

The stallion fell back to earth when Nakia had asked about what they should do. Dinyin looked left and right, still no one came running their way. How did this basket get here? His life was rather different from Nakia's. No one protected him, he was always out on his care. That was way he barely cared for his om and dad, or siblings. Another made him smile and rather adore the basket. However, in his fear, if he had to take care of little ones, it'd be tough. It wasnt easy being a parent, so maybe thats why his parents never appeared in his young days. "Well...." he waited for his mind to catch up, to think of something together of what to do, "...I have no idea." All that was really swirling through him was Nakia, and him. The basket was somewhere in the scene just not in the main vision. His heart felt light and fluffy again as he looked at her. It was a beautiful relieving feeling. "Do you have any ideas in mind?" he asked staring deep into her eyes. Smiling.
Another search around for the parents was useless, there didnt seem to be anyone around for miles. The way Dinyin ran towards Nakia, he saw no one on the forest pathes. Nothing. A foal just cant...appear. He tilted his head and laid down beside the grey bundle. Smiling at it. He knew Nakia really didnt want to leave it here. There was one other suggestion they could do, however Dinyin hestitated. It was one he really wasnt sure he would be the type for. If Nakia suggests this idea, then he'll agree to it no matter what with his best efforts. And if she doesnt bring it up...well then he sure wont.
