I actually did a history paper on Dracula back when I was in high school. He was based on Prince Vlad the third, as I recall, and was also known as "The Impaler" because that was the way he ran his kingdom. He was simply a character who is easily misunderstood. So he took revenge on a couple of people and made sure he saw them all get impaled. Was that not his right? I don't know. Personally, I would prefer not to see all the gore, but I guess with what he went through as a youth, maybe he's entitled to it or something. Bystanders witnessed this and saw weird things that they felt were unexplainable back then but I'm sure were really misunderstandings once again. Such as him drinking the blood of his enemies. Some say they saw that the morning he impaled a bunch of people but just because he was sitting out there dipping bread into a flask of red liquid doesn't necessarily mean there was blood in it. I can see how people would be mistake red wine for blood if they were too far away but I don't know why they would jump to such conclusions anyway.
