Okay, all I can say about Interview was the fact that it wasn't good. Okay. Yes. Different point of view concerning vampires. But Anne Rice is a completely subpar author. The eastern vampires were barbaric. But Vlad Tepes, the historical figure that holds claim to the legacy of "Dracula" was from Wallachia. Which is in Romania, the place that the main character visits to try to "discover" others of his own kind. (note: Wallachia is on the southern border of Trannsylvania, where Bram Stoker's and Hollywood's Dracula is from, and both regions now form Romania). Although he impaled alot of people and nailed the Turks' turbans to their heads, Vlad was civilized. The eastern vampires in Interview were little more than animals. Any thoughts on this? Or am I just being too pedantic concerning her writing style?

I'm not too big of a fan of Anne Rice either but I haven't read many of her books so I'm not going to criticize her writing style. I did see Interview with a Vampire though and I'm only fond of a few parts in that movie. The rest was, like you said, subpar. Thing is, you have to remember that vampires don't exist. Dracula was based on Vlad the Impaler, but that doesn't mean he has to be the sole vampire origin when it comes to fiction. Anne Rice has the right to change the vampire myth as much as she wants without needing to be even slightly accurate because there is no real history of fictional characters. I'm not trying to be mean or anything but if you don't want to keep an open mind about her books or about the way she writes, you can simply stop reading them.

I think Anne Rice is an excellen writer. Every writer is different and, of course, some people aren't going to like certain writers, but I think that we should keep in mind that she's writing the way she thinks. The way that her Lestat would probably think.
