Out of all the Vampire Hunter D novels that are out so far which on do you like the best?

For me I would have to choose the 6th novel "Pilgrimage of the Scared and the Profane."
I loved the whole survival in the desert thing, and who can't love D traveling with a bunch of people. I think that Granny Viper made me love the book the most, her personality was very fun.

I think it'd be unfair of me to say which is my favorite volume considering I'm still buying the other half of the books still.

I'll post my answer after I've finished them all.

My favorite book would have to be either Vol.9 'The Rose Princess', or Vol.3 'Demon Death Chase'

I liked the knights in 'The Rose Princess', I did so want that promised scene where Elena was going to take off the Helmet of the Black Knight to find out what they really were... *sigh* i'll leave off there for those who haven't read it yet.

I also liked 'Demon Death Chase'... there was so much really exciting action in the most of it, but I have to say I LOVED the ending... which was WAY better than the ending in the anime 'Bloodlust'. It was WAY sadder, and didn't have any interference from someone who's not even a character in ANY of the books so far. a character who was a complete OC for the anime, Countess Carmella.

I was the same way with the first one, I couldn't put it down either... both times I read it. But I do like the story in the third one better, I like the bittersweet ending.

Hmm...(has to go look at the books for a moment) Wow, a favorite huh? The second book was pretty good if only because we got that awesome, though brief, interaction with D and....the guy he's hunting (his daddy, come on, we all know it!)

1 was pretty awesome because we got that hint in both the movie and again in the book that Dracula was like, his dad. And I get this strange feeling that D's calling himself 'D' because he doesn't like the name he was born with...

5 "The Stuff of Dreams" was also at the top of my favorites. Putting D in a state where he's almost got no choice in the matter was pretty sweet (he couldn't leave the town and every time he fell asleep he'd have that dream.) Okay I wont say anymore then that, lol.

7 and 8 "Mysterious Journey to the North Sea Part One and Two" are going to have to be my favorites. We are introduced to so many interesting characters and the ending to 8 was beyond awesome. We now know who D holds close in his cold little heart! And the fight scenes were darn incredible too! There are a lot of things in these two books that made having to put one story into two different novels really worth it! Some hilarious interactions with his Left Hand and we notice here that D's reliant on Left Hand too. Yay!

What I have shown you is reality...

I have to say that my favorite is Book 3 "Demon Death Chase." Not because I've seen the movie that's based off of it but because it's just a damn good book and I love the story. It reminds me why I love the writer so much. User Image

What you remember... that is the illusion.

I just finished 7 myself the 1st part of the mysterious journey to the sea. And its good, alot of characters to keep track of but D can be so sweet and well frankly hot. I like Su Inns character too she reminds me of Doris or Leila in a way. I just started book 8 and i cant wait to see how all this ends. ^^

Then onto the other books lol im still playing catch up. sweatdrop

I have done a very bad thing and skipped ahead in the series!! I am ashamed but the other books were just sitting there on the book shelfs calling my name!! I hate myself but everytime that I go to the book store the eight book is never ther and then there was number nine and ten!! Argh!! I couldn't resist and I am currently reading number nine. So far I really like it.

I still love the first book. When I first bought volume one I actually got so into it, that I could actually hear D voice speaking like the voice Actor in the Bloodlust movie. And Doris had the voice from the original anime movie. It was so captivated and it was addicting. I couldn't put the book down. Love it and the sad ending that seemed like the end of D. I wonder if originally Hideyuki Kikuchi-sensei planned to kill D off in the first book?

I'm still making my way through the first one, because frankly, I don't read that much. I've read two of the manga and seen Bloodlust.
I wouldn't be able to choose just yet razz
