Title says it all, do you like the Old vampire hunter D movie or the new one Bloodlust.

I liked them both but I think they put more time into Bloodlust than the first one.

Because it is more simple. As the horse isn't cybernetic like in the original. That and it shows where D possibly came from. I mean the other experiments and such.

I liked Bloodlust better than the first one. Since I read the first novel it was much better, the movie didn't seem as good as the book. I still like it though.

i'm torn inbetween the two. i've never read the novels, so i'm not sure what to say on those points, but i think bloodlust had more on the other vampire hunters than D, but the first one seemed sorta empty, so i say it's a tie. but i do love the first, because it seemed more focused on D, and well, i also love the hot blond, but, regretibly, it's been so long that i no longer know her name redface

i agree with this comment about both the novels, and being stuck in between. and yea, the blonde is hot lol

I am decidedly for 'Bloodlust'. They got the main points of the first novel in the first anime, but it didn't quite follow it very well... That, and D and the 'extra' type characters (like the mayor, and Gaouru, and Dr. Ferrirngo) were really the only characters i thought looked like they were described in the book...Ii was angry when I saw Rei-Ginsei in the anime.

I'm not saying Bloodlust was exactly like the novel, but they did follow the story a little better, and the characters actually looked they way they should have. And I did like the art in the second one better. However, I still think the ending in the book was better, it was more of a tragedy, and there was no evil Countess scheming against Meyerling and the girl, "Charlotte" in the anime.

Personally I love them both, but as far as quality I would say I prefer the newer one. I can never say no to anything VHD, so it really doesn't matter all that much though! rofl

Can't decide on just one. I love the old one because it was one of the first anime I saw and D is just such a great character. My favorite character from the first one would have to be the guy with the mullet. He was so awesome. Didn't much care for the female lead but that's alright.

And in Bloodlust, well that one just makes me cry everytime I see it. The love between Meier and Charlotte is beyond any other love between a human and a vampire. No other couple can come close to those two in my opinion. Of course the new one has better animation since it's new, but for being an anime back in the eightys, the original D is still one of the best anime's out there.

The guy with the mullet, was that Rei-Ginsei? Yeah, he was pretty cool, but he was better in the book... and the new manga. I read the novel first, and he looks completely different.

Yeah that's him! It's been so long since I've seen the old movie and I don't have my VCR hooked up so I can't play any old movies. To bad too, I really should get it hooked up. Really? My beau is a big fan of D (more so than myself) He's got all the novels so far and is working on the Manga too.

I'm going to have to go with the old one. Don't get me wrong, love them both its just that the old movie fits better with the book then Bloodlust....a lot better. Love Bloodlust though because its so well drawn and the story between Meier Link and Charlotte has a much nicer ending (if you haven't read the third book I wont spoil it......much more). Although what they left out of Bloodlust was alright, didn't sort of need to be there...not all of it anyway. Okay, just the weird stuff between Leila and her brothers that was left out of the movie was fine by me!

I was glad that was left out, I felt so sorry for Leila. And I agree, the Bloodlust ending was nicer than the novels one. I only wished that the first movie was made better. The only problem I had was the fact that it didn't seem as great as the novel was, I think if more time was put into it, it would have been great.

Though I still gotta love the old movie. It was one of the first anime's I watched. O.o

Heh, same here actually (next to Kiki's Delivery Service). I think one of the main reasons the first didn't come out nearly well drawn was the time it was made and Hideyuki Kikuchi was always iffy about making D into a movie in the first place. Novels, generally will be better then the movies that are made after them. But I just felt they got the majority of it that really mattered, you know?

Personally I don't care how an animes drawn as long as I like it. ^^
And that's true, For some reason though I liked Bloodlust better than the third novel. xD

I find it funny that Hideyuki doesn't like anime much, but it's become two anime movies and now the mangas. xD

Yeah, I liked Bloodlust better then the third novel if only because of its story change. The novel was...I read the novel after seeing the movie and was distrubed. Greatly. Poor Poor Leila.

Actually, it might be three movies. I think Hideyuki was saying he'd like to see Journey to the North Sea as a movie which I think would be damned awesome since those two were my favorite books. I was actually iffy about the manga but I'm liking it, a friend of mine asked why I bought the manga when I have the novels and the movies and I told her you can never have enough D to read, EVER!
