Why, why, WHY!? I don't understand this sometimes, I really, really don't. Some books just cannot be made into movies, and I don't understand why they try. Well, that's incorrect, I know why they do- to make money- but they shouldn't. In stories where people are so perefectly beautiful or creatures that computeranimation just can't make look real enough, why bother trying? They are just going to end up ruining the book and/ or the movie.

Yeah, apparently in may cases money trumps artistic integrity.

Meh, I hated more when they change the movie so it differs from the book. Example: The Shinning.

And I was going to say that they've made so many crappy movies out of Stephen King's novels and short stories that it hurts. D: On the other hand it makes the books so much more worth reading.

Just like Spawn's DVD cover says the "Special Effects movie of the year" and it fell way short. I suppose if I had lower expectations it would have been better. The only thing that saved that movie in my eyes is that it was Spawn. I suppose for a lot of people, if they are a fan of a series, it makes it worth watching, like Harry Potter. Sure, it skimps on the details, but if you know the book, you don't need details. The point is to create a visual representation of things that only your imagination could create previously.

Sometimes a movie just ruins what you had imagined in your head when you read the book.

The War Starter Sometimes a movie just ruins what you had imagined in your head when you read the book. Indeed, with movies there's a limit to what you're able to do, but in books there isn't.
