Leaves shuffled across the ground, pushed by a snowy colored tail over and over until they were in a nice neat pile. It wasn't a cub that was attempting to make a pile to leap into, it was a cub that was attempting to clean up a living area.

Odd in itself.

Shusui used her paws to push the decent sized pile out of the way and circled it around the tree they'd all fallen from. Pushing the leaves up against the trunk as if to give them back to where they came from.

Dusting her white paws off after that job was done, Shu looked around once more in the attempt to find something else to clean up. It was endless for her, being that she wanted to make her mother and sister comfortable even though neither of them ever noticed much about it to begin with. Her mother would occaisionally comment about how pretty and clean it was, but her sister didn't care, as most cubs wouldn't.

It was a mystery as to why Shusui cared so much, but her big heart in her tiny little body seemed to care a lot about menial things.

Melusine had many sides to her, it just depended on who you were and how high of rank you were in the pride. She watched her sister clean up the area and smirked at how fun it would be to re-mess it up. Of course, that was only to make her sister angry. She pounced out and ran into the pile of leaves. "Wee!" She said as she rolled in them and started to make them scatter around. Only getting one side of the pile to avoid the tree.

It wasn't that Melusine didn't care for her little sister. On the contrary, if she was in danger, she'd be more then happy to help her in any way possible. But that didn't mean she couldn't be a pain in the butt most the time. It's what sisters were, right? Her bright orange body stuck out beneath the brown, rusty red, and yellow leaves as she was now at a stand still.

Her ears back playfully as she watched her sister. She wanted to pounce on her, but was waiting for her to get angry, or something before hand. She didn't act like an older sister at all for the moment. All she wanted to do was play, and have fun. Her tail flicked wildly as she waited.

Both of Shusui's ears pinned back when she heard the leaves scatter. Her sky blue eyes closed as she realized what it was that had caused such a thing to happen. Only Melusine had enough guts to bother her sister when she was cleaning up their living area.

Turning her head so that she could see what had been done, Shu pulled her delicate eyebrows together and made a noise like a gusty sigh. Normally Shusui never spoke above a gentle whisper, like wind running through reeds or blowing dust around. Naturally her sister had done it to annoy her, but that was almost impossible unless her mother and sister were in trouble. Only then would Shu get frustrated and angry.

Slowly so that she didn't make her sister angry either, Shu went to push the leaves back in a circle again, a soft smile on her muzzle when she looked at Melu. She loved her sister dearly, and sometimes there were things that she and her sister clashed on. The maid part of Shu's personality wanted to throttle her older sister, but Shu would never say a word bad to her sister or about her.

Melusine was still in her pouncing position. Since her irritating her sister didn't work as she wanted, she decided that pouncing was going to happen weather or not her sister was ready for it . As her sister fixed up the area again, her butt wiggled and ears were back again. Eyes fixed totally on her sister and nothing else.

She needed to learn some way or another, this was one way to do it. Of course, she'd learn when she was old enough to train, but for now, this was good. Without any more time wasted, she leaped at her sister out of the leaves. Claws not out, because she'd probably get in trouble for using them.

It took a lot to suprise Shu, she'd seen a lot in her young life. A lot of play and a lot of suprises among the things she cleaned up and the way she attempted to help. All the same, her sister tackling her, which never happened, suprised Shusui enough to allow her to emit a squeak of near terror and curl herself up.

Melusine would be the more aggressive of the two in the future, even now Shusui could be pushed out of the way and walked all over without saying a word or even lifting her eyes from her paws where she normaly kept her sight. It was because she respected the higher stations of her mother and sister, because she loved them with all of her huge heart that was entraped in her tiny body. If she could help them at all she would do it without complaint and she would allow them to do with her as they wished.

Reaching up to pat at her sister's muzzle with a tiny white paw, Shu smiled at her with a ghostly soft smile that seemed to wisp across her muzzle like the wind through the trees of the jungle canopies.

Melusine rolled her eyes at her sister. Didn't she know the meaning of play? As she tapped her on the nose with her paw, Melusine seemed slightly irritated. She needed someone to play and have fun. How else was she suppose to get ready to train? She flicked her tail wildly back and forth, sitting there for a moment. Thinking on what else she could do to try to get her sister to be a little more fun.

Words were really not needed around her sister. Melusine couldn't really remember the last time she actually heard her sister talk, but for the moment Melusine had a one track mind. So, she could have said something 10 minutes ago, and Melusine would have forgotten. It wasn't that she didn't have a good memory, it was more if she thought if it was important or not. And being a higher rank then her sister, her sister's words weren't always what she thought was important.

She snapped playfully at her sister next. Trying her last attempt to be playful. Her ears back, yet in a playful way. Perhaps she'd get the idea that playing was good, and cleaning was such a drag. Why did she like cleaning anyways? It wasn't like it had any purpose, in only a matter of days the place would be messing with leaves again. Tree's threw them at them. She didn't understand why, but trees seemed mean, though, they never really hurt her. Or at least she was lucky enough to not be in the way when one decided to throw a branch at them.

In response to her sister's snapping motion, Shu merely jerked her head back out of her reach and... for one of the first times in her short life... rolled her body against her sister's in an attempt to pin her.

It was completely out of character, though that was more than likely why she did it, in the hopes that her sister would understand that gentle part of her sister a little better. Shusui did like to play, but she was a gentle little lioness, almost weak in a way. The rough play did her no good but then she also enjoyed playing with her sister, rare as it was.

Pawing at her sister's muzzle, Shu grinned a wisp-like grin and began to hum out a gentle song in a lilting almost magical rhythm. It was a song that made no sense, it was no language she understood at least, but it made her smile to hum it out like she did.

Sometimes by herself she would sing the song she knew, smiling wider because it made her feel as if she were speaking to something out in the jungle, something no one else could communicate with but her.

Odd cub.

Melusine was pushed a bit from her sister, but not much. It was her little attempt to either get her off of her, or perhaps tried to pin her. Her tail flicked as she laughed at her sister. Not sure what to think, but think weak. Though, she'd never say that to her sister unless she was angry with her. She moved off her sister and flicked her tail some more. Watching her movements.

Then, out of no where, she started to hum. Melusine tilted her head and gave her sister a odd look as she seemed to enjoy humming such a strange beat of music. Melusine really didn't care much about music. Other then what the earth made itself. "What are you humming?"

It was common knowledge just how weak Shusui was, though she seemed to become stronger when she cleaned. Able to lift things heavier than she should have really been able to. It more than likely had to do with her sense of attention, if she really wanted to do something about it or if she was just doing it in a feeble attempt.

The humming continued, on and on, a gentle smile on Shu's muzzle. It seemed like the darkness in the jungle was responding to the humming.

"A pretty song I made up. It's fun." Shu said, her voice was so soft that the wind may as well have been speaking to her sister for how gently it wisped across the distance between them. "Do you sing Melu?"

Melusine wanted to be strong, she wanted to be a good warrior. Having wished she was the same rank as her mother, but was happy she wasn't the lowest. Though, she hoped that one day she could become the strongest and get her rank changed cause they honored her so much, but that was just a stupid dream of hers. It'd never happen, but she didn't know that.

She raised a brow at her sister as she hummed more. It wasn't something she was interested at all. Melusine could hardly hear what she said, but heard most of it. "No, It's a waste of time." She said simply. To her, it was a waste of time. Playing, and adventure was all she was about right now. Nothing else could fit in. Especially music. She wasn't a very musical lion cub. Wasn't ever able to come up with a tune, and never really cared. She shrugged at her sister.

It wasn't all that suprising to Shu that her sister didn't sing. There were ranks, and Shu was the lowest of the low, meaning she'd eventually just be a huntress while her sister would be a warrior if needed. There were times where they might be needed, where Shu might even be needed, but her mother and sister would be warriors long before she was.

Given her nature she wasn't even sure if she would be trained at all in anything other than to hunt.

But for now everything she did seemed a waste of time for everyone, including her mother. Shu's shoulders slumped a little at her sister's words, but she tried to lift her head back up, sky colored eyes peering about the tiny clearing in need to clean something else to aid in the help of removing her light depression.

Cleaning, helping her family, it seemed to always lift whatever sadness settled over the little cub's heart.

She watched her sister, she seemed to upset her by calling singing and music a waste of time. "Not that you are, I mean your the best sister." She said trying to make her feel better, now feeling bad for being mean. Though, she'd never show it completely. "Plus, music isn't bad, it's just not for me." She added.

"I mean, every place has to have it's music." She went on trying to sound smart "If not the living creatures, the earth has it's own." She didn't totally believe it, but it might be something her sister might believe in. Music was pathetic unless she was the one listening to it, and someone else was making it. But even then, she wouldn't waste her time in listening to someone sing.

Her head swivveld back over towards her sister, unsure at first about how she should respond. Sure she knew that Melusine was easily bored and disliked anything that bored her, but Shu had never gotten bored once in her life.

Finally a smile settled over her muzzle and the tiny lioness cub nodded her head. "You're smart Melu." Her voice ghosted quietly.

Without another word she walked out of the clearing and into a large tree she used as a spot to hide the special things she found while she cleaned. Shusui had been saving this gift for when her sister might appreciate it more, though she had a feeling that wouldn't be for a long, long time. Melu was known for being easily amused one minute and then bored the next, so this wouldn't be wise to give to her now.

All the same, Shu loved her sister and she couldn't hold anything back from her. When she reappeared out of the hole in the large tree, she was carrying a large feather in her muzzle like it was the greatest treasure in the world. The feather was four different bright colors, shockingly bright and yet delicate at the same time. The little lioness dropped it shyly at her sister's feet and then retreated a few steps back so that Melu could look at it.

"It's a present." Her voice was quieter than normal when she said this, shyly.

((What colors are the feather so I can get it as a item for her to wear?))

Melusine felt quite smug on the fact she was called smart. Good, at least she was headed in the right direction. Smarts, strength, and being a good warrior would get her far within this pride. Or at least that's what she was told. Her heart was set on a goal, and when praised towards that goal, it made her feel so much better about herself.

Melusine carefully watched her sister walk away. Curious on what she was doing. Her eyes didn't leave her at all. She didn't even blink with in the time. As she started to come back, Melusine raised a brow. For all she saw was a feather. A beautiful one at that, but a feather.

Then when she was told it was a gift, she didn't know what to say. She just merely stared at the feather for a moment or two. Finally, words started to come. "Thank you." She looked around for perhaps a string of some sort, but didn't find any. "Do you have some string?" She asked her sister. It would work nicely for a necklace, or perhaps something she could stick behind her ear, but she'd loose it then, a necklace wouldn't be lost.

She could keep it close, even though she thought it was silly. But it'd hurt her sister's feelings if she didn't. Perhaps, one day she'd understand why something so simple was to be taken as a holy treasure and must be kept close. Of course, that was to come later in life. But for now, at least she could pretend that she cared a lot of the feather. It was pretty, after all.

((Like a parrot or a love bird. X3 Green, red, orange and yellow. XD BRIGHT jungle colors. Or you can just pick four random colors. ^^ That would look so cute on Melu though. XD Heehee!))

String! Why hadn't Shu thought of string before now?

The small lioness let a sad look, nearly panicked, pass over her face and she darted back into her tiny hiding spot faster than she'd ever moved. Shu's paws sifted through everything she had, desperate to find something that could help her sister wear what she'd just given her. Oh why hadn't she thought of string or something?

Finally her eyes settled on a thin vine that she'd found one day. Sure it was dried out a bit but it would hold as a string until she could find her sister an apropriate type to hold the feather she'd given her.

Bounding back out, another uncharacteristic move, Shu placed the thin vine at her sister's paws with watery eyes begging forgiveness for not having thought of such a thing before. Instantly she backed up, half out of respect and half out of fear that her sister might be mad it had taken her so long in her silly endeavours to find one piece of non existant string. The small koi-marked lioness' eyes were threatening to well over with tears, her heart hoping that the vine would suffice for now.

"I-I'm sorry, that's all I have." Shusui hung her head a bit out of shyness.
