At his young age, Possum knew two things for certain:
1) The shadows were friend, not foe.
2) The pelt adorning his back would stay with him until he died.
He was a leggy, knobby-hocked little thing with a scrawny tail that dipped down and curled back up at the tip like an inbred Siberian Husky.
His coat of chocolate and cream was random compared to his parents. His mother was a jet-black femme and his father black and white. He supposed it was farther back in Adolfo's lines that reds and golds strayed in. His sister Marion, afterall, had a coat of bright Halloween orange!
Olivine eyes searched the shadows as Possum padded through the forest, ears pricked up as he was careful not to alert anyone unneeded... Perhaps sons of the Brotherhood, for example. Those Cloaked hounds wouldn't stand a chance with him once he was all grown up. He planned on taking lessons from both parents and perhaps an outside source if need be.
Although a non-violent wolf, this one didn't stand for pup-snatching. He had long-sinced vowed to be a protector of puppies as long as the badger pelt covered his back.

Fiereza moved through the forest with extreme care, for she knew that on all sides were packlands. She disliked Agua Azul though not all it's members were corrupt a great deal seemed brainwashed. She avoided Akiiki Chibale for they seemed a tight knit family pack that was having its own issues with the other. Last but not least she avoided with great caution The Reign of Terror, it was not fear of the members themselves that kept her away, it was the terror that filled her when she realized she could have been a member of their pack. She who had once killed with such care, so important it was to keep the pelts intact. She would have fit in perfectly with their kind and corrupted with ease. A shudder passed along her spine at the thought and she glanced behind her to ensure her two sons were well.
"Possum!" She called with affection. How she adored her children each of them special to her, concern often filled her for her youngest daughter, but she loved her all the same. "Sly?" She added worried and growled softly, her first born was always vanishing into the shadows and giving her cause for concern.
Sly poked his head out of the bushes and ran after his brother and mother, he didn't want to get into trouble today. He could tell their mother was taking them, the eldest two on a special little trip.
"Coming mama!" He pulled his raccoon pelt over his head and ran to pounce on his brother.

He trotted with his head held high, not knowing of the packs around them. This was, perhaps, that because he'd never met the brainwashed wolves of Agua Azul or the Goblin King.
Akiiki Chibale wasn't a threat in his opinion, as he was managing to make friends with the alpha's son, Davii who was a tad shy but fun nonetheless.
He never meant to wander off...alot of times, it just happened. Either way, one of his parents would find him!
And there it was! The familiar bark! Ears swiveled forwards as he heard Fiereza's voice. Mother! He swung to the side mid-stride, only to find himself on the ground.
"Eiip!" he squeaked underneath his brother, tugging at the racoon pelt on Sly's back. "Nice j-j-job, Superman..."

Sly chuckled and tugged at his brothers ear a moment until he felt his pelt being tugged. He growled and thwapped his brothers head with a paw "Hey be careful!" Sly like the rest of his siblings took great care and pride in his pelt. He embodied the sneaky, clever raccoon that covered him. It's only fault, he had often considered, was that his mother had been smarter. He would be just as dark and clever as his mother though!
"Come on!" He leapt up and raced towards his mother, glancing back once to ensure his younger, by an instant, brother followed.
Fiereza waited patiently for her two eldest sons to come along, she wanted to teach them a little of the hunt today, but nowhere near all the packs. She had planned to take her young pups out in twos, the eldest, the twins, and the youngest. Each had their unique traits and lovable qualities and she wanted to devote the proper amount of time to each of them.

Possum felt sharp puppy teeth dig into his ear and with a paw, nudged his brother to the side (which only caused HIM more pain...or discomfort, if anything else).
He knew the his brother liked to keep his pelt clean. So did the rest of the large litter, including Possum. He liked to keep the silk-black of the badger coat free from debris.
He respected and envied his momma for keeping such a beautiful white lynx pelt clean. What a task!
He had no idea that they were going to be hunting or else he wouldn't have lagged so much. As it was, he took off with a stammering bark, prancing past Sly to trot beside Fiereza, a grin on his maw, tongue lolling out of his mouth. "I'm here, Momma!"

Fiereza smiled and bent her head to nuzzle Possum lovingly, she was always pleased when he overcame his stammer. Yet she had become quite charmed and endeared to her sons unique trait. She did not fault him for it, and she knew it was not due to fear, his tongue simply refused to cooperate with him at times.
"Come along, it wouldn't do to end up caught out too late when the sun rises." She nudged Possum ahead and waited as Sly came running up after.
Sly kept pace with his brother once he had caught up, he tried to trip, push, and pull on him with glee. He wondered where they were headed and paused every once in a while to ask his mother as much. She never gave him a satisfying response though, always it was patience, patience, patience. He possessed none sadly, it was possum who could lie still for hours as if dead before springing into action. Sly could only hold still if he had a victim in sight, the waiting game otherwise was not for him.

He grinned up at his mom, who had to lick his head like normal. He let her fuss. She was his momma, afterall, and he loved her as much as she loved him. She was his light in the shadow, even though she ran within them.
"O-Of course not, Momma!" he barked softly, then trotted ahead, knowing she and Sly would catch up easily.
Hunting... Perhaps they were going hunting! The little pup wiggled in excitement, such so that made the badger on his back look like it was digging. Hunting!

Fie chuckled and watched as Sly and Possum ran along, she moved behind them at an even pace her slender frame flowing gracefully along like a black river. She wore a dark stag pelt tonight, for the hunt she would run something small at the boys. She did not expect her young sons to be able to take down the prey, she did expect them to watch, to learn.
She perked up as they came into the meadow, there were but a few doe and their fawn out sipping water from the lake in the center of the open territory. Fie disliked the meadow for it was open and bright, yet it also held the best prey. "Sly, Possum, come to me." Her voice was soft and caressing, she never liked to use harsh tones with her children, and with the exception of sly they usually always listened.
Indeed Sly was so entranced with the wide open meadow and the sight of the deer that he ignored his mother completely. He crouched low in the tall grasses and imagined himself larger, faster, able to take down a whole doe in a single graceful leap!
