It had been a few days since he'd set foot in the Pridelands with Mut as his guide. She'd gone off on her own for a while, stating something about having to look after her cubs, though she mentioned that they were adolescent apparently that still meant they were her babies to take care of. Not that Paki could begrudge her that feeling, if he had his own cubs he would doubtless dote all over them until they were adults and knocked him aside like he had his own father.

Now there was that sad feeling again, why did he have to keep remembering his family at times when he was the most vulnerable?

A sigh escaped Paki's white muzzle and he laid himself out on a rather large rock he'd found. It balanced him almost perfectly, though his fur spread out all around him like some bizzare freakish goat, like the kinds he'd heard near the villages with the two legged monsters.

Bodaway had warned him away from the two leggers, claiming them to be demons that hunted lions simply for sport to prove their minds stronger than a lion's, than a 'beast's' mind. Bodaway had explained that the two leggers were the beasts and that had been the end of it. Paki still wondered sometimes...

Smacking a paw to his forehead, Paki had to force himself to stop his aimless thoughts and stick to the task at hand. Waiting until Mut came back... whenever... she came back. Oddly it felt sort of lonely without her company, even though he hadn't known her very long.

And it didn't take her long to return. The pale lioness found Paki on a rock, looking ever like a bush. It made her smile to see him so.... Spread out.

She had, of course, been checking up on her sons. The older, Ushujaa, was getting on well on his own. The other, though...

She had to smile in amusement at her younger son. Sioda was so... How could she put it in her mind? He was like a large cub, with a mane. She couldn't help but wonder, would he ever really hunt?

Approaching Paki, she kept mindful of not sneaking up on him. Not that it was that easy to, her metal decorations made various noises as they hit each other and moved.

Lifting his shaggy head when Mut's scent danced over the wind up to him, Paki didn't need to hear her coming to know who it was approaching him. A smile spread over his white muzzle and the large and overly fluffy lion sat up and faced where she was coming from.

"So what to do today?" Paki asked innocently enough. The two of them had been searching for Moyo for the past few days, unsuccesfully. Maybe a break would do them good, as he was certain that Mut wouldn't want to keep searching for someone that really had nothing to do with her.

Fiddling aimlessly with one of the two feathers around his huge neck, Paki wondered exactly how long Mut was going to stick with him. Generally those that had lead him places in the past had dissapeared once they'd reached the destination. Yet here Mut still was, aiding him all the while despite it not really being her problem.

Maybe she was just that nice?

At the thought a smile spread over his face. He was the same way deep down, though he avoided showing it on the surface. He'd once met a visitor to the Unity Walker lands and guided them around so they'd get their bearings... and only for that reason. It made his chest warm to think that there were others that would guide the lost simply because they could do so with a smile.

She glanced back towards the Pridelands, smiling. "Well, my oldest son is ever independent, while his brother is... Not so independent. As for Moyo... I haven't seen her, I'm afraid." She looked back to Paki, a frown on her face. "Seen a few of her descendants, but... Not her." It was unsettling, but then... The Pridelands was a very large pride. Something that was unnerving to her now.

Settling near Paki, the lioness watched him. For her, it was easy to look past the blindness. She was used to having the blind around her, and used to their ways. If one of her own cubs had shown up blind... She would have certainly encouraged him to be independent and resourceful. When she thought about it... She'd have wanted them to be like Paki. Such a thought made her smile all the more.

Why DID she stay in his company? If he'd voiced it, she would have asked 'Why not?'. He was company, and good company. They were also two lions of the same sort, with no real true destination.

"It would appear no one has, don't despair. I'm coming to terms with that I may not be able to find her. However that won't keep me from continuing my search even if I never do find my sister again." Paki smiled sadly, knowing full well that he may NOT find Moyo but still wanting to hope against hope that some had to know where she was.

Then his ear flicked over at her, remembering a word she'd used. Descendants? Well Moyo had been with another lion when he'd last seen her, that Kiwi lion, the large male that hadn't seemed so bad though their father had snarled at him. Probably just because Kif was overly protective about his oldest daughter. It would be stupid to think that Moyo hadn't had cubs by now, especially with a mate that loved her so much.

A smile spread over Paki's face and he swished his tail, not saying a word for a long moment. Instead he sucked in the scent of the pridelands all around him, the crisp and tangy smell of the grass, the mellow and airy smell of the rocks and trees, even the deep and subtle smell of the watering holes that were varied and common within these pride's lands. It was a beautiful day, or so he could only help but believe from the smell.

"Would you like to just go out and walk without having a place to really go? I'm sure you're tired of helping a rouge you don't know to look for his estranged family member. Maybe a walk would help." Paki turned his head so that his silvery/blue eyes were peering in Mut's general direction.

On such a beautiful day Paki could hardly stay still. He liked to move, he'd done it all his life thus far. To keep still was a blessing untouched but still he enjoyed walking above all else. Exploring and smelling and hearing, feeling and tasting new things he'd never had before. All of it new.

She nodded, moving to stand by him. "Who knows, you might see her again some day." Or meet her. But Mut knew Paki got the idea. Somehow, she just knew he would. There were lions she knew she'd see again one day. Maybe, just maybe, she'd find her dispersed and wandered brothers and sisters again. But only time and the paths of like could really tell.

Blue eyes met silvery, even if she knew, even with eye contact, he'd never truly SEE her. She could imagine, though... And that was enough.

The wind gently tugged at her fur, feeling like it was pushing her, pulling her to another place. She closed her eyes, feeling it curl around her. She could hear it in Paki's fur, in the things he wore. After a moment, she nodded. "Alright... Wandering is good, too. Maybe... We can find... I don't know... Anything." She had the bug that had plagued many lions before her, the urge to just... Wander.

A rueful smile passed over his white muzzle and he turned his head to look back out at the sky that he knew was there simply by feeling and from being explained to over and over. The sky was what was up in the air, far above him. To Paki it felt as though he were walking in the sky because he figured that the sky wouldn't just... stop. At least not until it met something solid and air was not solid.

"You're right of course. As long as any lion walks the savannah there's an opportunity to meet them, again or for the first time period. I met you after all, didn't I?" At this Paki smiled over at Mut softly and nodded his head.

The chocolate feet he bore had walked far and wide for a long time. Sometimes searching other times just wandering. Ever since he was a cub that was how it had been and it wasn't about to change now simply because he'd found someone he liked to talk to. He still wished to find his sister, but something in him just wanted to spend some time with Mut today and no one else. If they found his sister in their wanderings he would be happy, but he wanted to spend some time with the lioness who was sacrificing her own time to help him in his endevours. Surely she didn't have to, yet she was still here, still walking the unbeaten and beaten path beside him. As she had for days now, much to Paki's utter confusion on the entire matter.

Maybe one of these times he would ask her why she was still here, or maybe he would just learn to take things as they were.

Standing up, Paki shook his extensive fluff and let the wind tug it, stepping in the direction the wind was blowing. A smile lit over his muzzle and he turned his head back to Mut blindly.

"Let's follow the wind today, it always guides somewhere interesting."

"We'll never know what's out there if we stay here, will we? Only the gods know..." And those seers gifted just right. But she wasn't one of them. But then, she didn't care. No matter how strong or weak her powers were... She didn't care. She spent every day living as if she didn't have them, why start acting like she did now?

Facing the direction the wind blew in, she took a breath. Smiling, she started to walk. The bangles on her leg, as well as the 'feathers' of her necklace, jingled and jangled as she walked, telling all just where she was. In a way, it might have told others just who she was, coupled with how she walked, how she carried herself.

With the wind at her back, it was easy to move forward. Looking to Paki, she felt... Safe. While she could spot danger, he could hear danger. Like they complimented each other... She smiled, ears perked and paws moving with steady steps.

Laughing at her statement of only the gods knowing, Paki picked up his speed to match her, his ears flicking to and fro as he moved, picking up the noises his jingling jewlery made as they bounced off things around him. They helped, he had to admit, with being able to find his way around. It helped a lot.

"Sometimes I don't think even they know what's going to happen, even if they are supposed to be all powerful. I think they get as suprised as we do about things. Or at least I'd like to think that they do, wouldn't you?" Paki said happily, a goofy smile on his face like always. His mocha tipped tail swayed in the air behind him.

Mut was jingling as brightly as he was and the sentiment made him smile. Everyone told him that he made a lot of noise when he stood up and walked, so it was nice to imagine that there was someone else out there that could make such noise. It was as if she were the same as him for a moment, the thought was comforting as soon as it came to his mind.

Of course Paki had to admit that he liked being around her, she was an easy going soul and she was easy to talk to. The last lioness he'd felt like that around was Moyo but this was different. It felt as if something in his chest pulled tight around Mut and for whatever reason... it didn't hurt.

Oh well, he'd figure out what that meant in time, but for now he just knew that hearing her beside him was enough to make him smile and that was all Paki needed to know that he wanted to stick around her.

Indeed, she didn't care. The future was out there, waiting for them. Paws striking the ground, she raced for it, glee in her eyes. Her pace only slowed so that Paki might catch up, bangles and things still jingling as she went. As far as she hoped, she would spend the rest of her life with Paki around, no matter what role he played.

"Never stop smiling, Paki, it looks good on you!"
