With an amused snort Lukindi -"Lucky" to most- trotted away from yet another tight spot with nary a scratch. Lucky again it seemed, and well worth the little bit of worry... It had been a long time since he'd seen a hippo THAT enraged... With a goodnatured chuckle and a fluff of his mane the regal-appearing, rough-and-tumble male trotted onward, moving through the grasslands in search of new sport. He missed the old crowd... But it had been ages since they'd seen each other. "Wonder what they're all up to without their Lucky charm..." He sighed, hoping his friends were well. "Wonder if they even remember me..."

Happy-go-lucky as ever, the pink lioness was happily humming to herself as she waltzed through a clearing. Liana's smile, as bright as ever, was one of simply enjoying life. Butterflies danced in the air, fluttering between flowers as she walked. Sure, she missed her friends which she had not seen in so very long. But she was confident that they would meet again.

"Something is starting, right now... Something is starting, oh wow!" Lukindi murmured to himself as he trotted along, his usual good nature shining through now that he was done with his pranks... For the moment at least. A soft scent danced on the wind, as fragile as a memory, teasing his senses. Pausing in the high grass, the male tilted his head, a frown marring his brow. He knew that scent... Didn't he? "Hello?"

She stopped, ears and flakes perking at the sound of a voice. A voice so vaguely familiar. She turned towards the voice and began to seek it. Had she only imagined it? "Is someone there?"

The wind shifted, tugging his mane across his face and ruffling his pelt the wrong way, sweeping away that elusive smell. But he knew that scent, Lukindi KNEW he knew that scent... And the one it belonged to. "Long ago... It seems so long ago... How young and innocent we were... She may not remember me, but I remember her..." He rumbled more to himself than anyone, perking at the sound of a female voice. "I'm here..."

She stopped. She knew that voice. "In dreams he came... That voice which calls to me, and speaks my name..." She smiled, almost tearing, and hurried to him. It was a moment before he was in sight, but once he was she couldn't believe that he was here.

He jogged around a low tumble of rocks and through a strand of tiny acacias, grinning widely at the sight of the lioness. Yes, he knew her... And it had been a long time... Too long. "Liana." He rumbled joyously, leaping at her. "Li!"

She grinned like a fool. A fool who had long missed someone dear. Indeed it had been too long. But he was here once again. This time she wouldn't let him go. Not like last time. "Lukindi!" He who was her lucky star.

He reared up on his haunches, playfully pawing at her. It had been too long... And yet, he'd hardly changed. He was still playful and goofy and fun, a little mischievious... He dropped to all fours and nuzzled her, licking her cheek and grinning. Liana was one of the few who called him by his full name. "I missed you... How have you been? Where have you been?" Did she have a male now?

She giggled and pawed back. He really was the Lukindi she had always remembered. Returning his affections, she purred lovingly. "I have been well. A bit lonely without my lucky star, but well. As for where I've been....I've been simply around. I have seen the higher nests of the predator birds. I have lain in the flowery meadows full of strange colored flowers which only opened during a night of the full moon. I have eaten fish who live in waters so salty you had to go look somewhere else to drink." And yet, through it all, she had only missed one thing. One lion. And he was here now.

"A wanderers life, you live then, hmm? An explorer's life..." He purred back at her. "That sounds fair glorious, Liana... I'm glad you've seen so many things and been many places... But oh, how I missed you..." He licked her cheek again, nuzzling her. He'd seen sunrises from the mountains and sunsets over the ocean... He'd chased birds of every different color and rolled in a field of butterflies... And he'd missed her. "Did you meet anyone.. Important, while wandering?"

"Unless you count a little purple dragonfly who I named Blitz, or a rude little mocking bird who only sang songs of mischief, then no. I have been a bit flighty in my thoughts as I wandered, I suppose. I have stopped to make friends with the flowers, but not to others of our kind.... or most other kinds to tell the truth." She gave him a sheepish smile. "But then, I really only wanted the company of a certain friends I dearly missed."

He relaxed slightly, smiling a little more freely. "That sounds like you had fun then..." He considered his own wanderings, then shrugged. "I've met one or two companions who are also wanderers... But I've not seen them in a long time... Any chance I would know one of those important friends you missed?" He gave a roguish grin, winking and bumping shoulders with her playfully.
