 It was a beautiful sunny day. The birds chirped and fluttered about above the young male demon. Deep in the forest, near where he lived with his other adopted family, Khami wandered around. Beams of light snuck through holes in the trees making the forest mystical. He decided today was the perfect day to go berry picking. So with his small embroidered bag his guardian gave him he set out for an adventure.
Walking down the trampled path he stopped to gather the small berries; eating a few as he invaded each patch. Blue berries they were. They were his and his sister, Ruyaa's, favorite. Maybe his guardian would make them blueberry pie he cheerfully thought. She was a good baker. His tummy rumbled. Unsure if it was a hunger pang or a sign he ate too many berries he decided it was probably best to head back.
Now Khami being clumsy as he was ended up dropping the bag and losing all his days work on the ground. With a small sigh and a discouraged look he began to slowly pick the delicate food up, making sure to brush the smallest of the dirt off.

 Juillet had wandered away from where she knew her human would be. As she slipped away, Lural was playing with Augustus, and Jun was asleep. She slinked into the woods to have some personal time. Lilly wasn’t even with her. Instead, she was harassing Orbis and Octavian. Juillet soon lost herself in the woods, loving being alone for a while. It was still early, so she lay down in the soft earthy leaves. While she hated to get dirty, she loved the smell of the forest. Call it a guilty pleasure.
She didn’t realize she fell asleep until she woke with a start hearing the soft footsteps of someone coming. She figured it was a camping human. They wouldn’t see her. She was about to close her dark jade eyes when she saw a rather unique colored winiko step into her line of sight, then promptly dropped the bag he was carrying. Unlike Jun, who might have laughed at the poor winiko, Juillet slowly got up and walked over. She saw what he had dropped, and without asking, began to help him gather them. She wasn’t as meticulous about the dirt though.(I'm not eager to get them to meet, nope. Not me. Nu-uh.)

Khami jumped a little with surprise. She was so quiet he never knew anyone was around till she was there helping him.
"Aaaa...aa hi?" Khami stammered out. As kind as he was, he was shy around the opposite sex; especially ones he never met before. He picked up a couple more berries and dropped them in the bag.
"Thank..you.." He smiled at her. Khami was as nervous as the stereotypical, male, human, nerd. She was very pretty too so that did not help...not at all.

She looked up at him through her lashes, a berry in her mouth. She carefully set it in the bag and smiled at him. "I didn't mean to startle you." She mistook his nervousness. "It just looked like you might need help is all. I can leave if you wish me to." She tilted her head to the right slightly, the purple buds tied in her hair shaking a little as they dangled just off her mane. Juillet wasn't sure she would leave if he wanted her to. She felt in the mood to talk with others, and didn't feel like listening to Augustus's nonsensical babble, or Jun's cynicism.

"Oh that's alright" he laughed. "I just didn't know anyone was near by...that's all." he blushed. "Thanks again for your help..it's very kind of you." he looked up at her smiling then looked down at the ground shy.
Picking up the last couple berries he tied the bag shut with the pull string. "Hopefully now they won't fall out this time." He chuckled and watched a small butterfly land on her head flowers. 'You're welcome to stay if you like...if you can stand my company..." He grinned. I'm Khamiski...Khami for short."

She smiled at him. "I'm Juillet, and-" She thought a moment. "I don't have a short version to my name. It's nice to meet you, Khami. If you like, I could be meaner. But I don't see why you would want that." She giggled a little. "I was sort of sleeping. That could by why you didn't see me." She lowered her head, scaring the butterfly off as she moved. "I think I can handle anything you could do. Take it all in stride, as my human says. So why were you out here? Berry picking?" Though she recognized them as blueberries, she never had them before. She could taste the faintly sweet juices they left on her lips though.

"You have a beautiful name Juillet...it suits you." He paused "So no one has called you Juli before?" he tipped his head to the side as he watched the butterfly drift off. "Juil has a nice ring to it too." He blushed. His tail wiggled behind his back.
"It is quite beautiful here during the summer...I can see how you can nap out in this area." He gestured with his paw. "I love exploring and taking in the lovely scenery...so yes I was out here getting some berries." He let a small grin cross his face. Khami was worried he wasn't saying the right things;that she would quickly turn her back to him like so many usually do. "Sooo...do you like blueberries?"

Juillet's cheeks pinkened a tinge. "N... no. I've never been called Juli before. Just Juillet. Though if you like it, you... you can call me Juli." She shuffled a paw in shyness when he asked about the berries. She lowered her eyes and watched her paw trace patterns in the dirt a moment before she answered. "I've never had them."

Khami smiled wide on what she said. "Well then! We'll have to change that." He looked into the bag and made a 'Hmm' sound. "Lets wash a few first...yes..." He tied the bag up again and looked around. "This way to the brook!" he was feeling giddy with anticipation. She never had blue berries before. Wow. I hope she likes them. He gestured with his head to follow him down the nearby path.Does she want to go? he thought...maybe she doesn't even want to try them? ....am I being too pushy? Khami's mind raced with worry now. He gulped. "Would you like to come down to the brook with me Juli and possibly eat some berries after?"

"It sounds delightful." Juillet replied. I'm not familiar with this place, and would be glad for the company to the brook. Perhaps a drink there as well." She smiled at his friendly eagerness. She walked to stand beside him, her tawny paws leaving only faint impressions in the forest floor. "Please lead on." Her smile was kind, genuine.

"This place isn't too big....just listen....you can hear the trickling of the brook." he smiled and walked on.
Nearing the brook Khami hesitated for a second. He wanted to make sure he was in the area where the water was shallow. He couldn't swim and with his clumsiness he was afraid he would fall in.
"Here we are..." he knelt and shook a few berries out as careful as he could into his paw. Shifting them in the water to clean them he held them out to Juli.

Juillet watched, standing just a step downstream from him. "You've done this before." She accused teasingly when he pulled the berries from the water. "So is this where you take all the girls?" She was trying to be playful with him as she eyed the berries. They looked so tasty. A faint purple juice on Khami's paws.

Khami laughed. "I haven't had any girly friends....the only girls I really nly associated with were my adopted sisters, Ruyaa and Nori. " he grinned. "Ruyaa is a pleasant girl bit of a rebel but sweet.....Nori...lets just not go there." He shook his head. He looked down at the berries in his paw and offered them to her again. "You can have these I'll wash some more for myself." He looked looked into her green eyes and shyly smiled.

She gingerly took the berries from him. "Thank you very much." She popped one in her mouth. She held it there as she let the taste wash over her tongue and smiled. It was good. Delicious even. She smiled happily, her tongue now a faint purple. "Wow!" She decided it may be best to not tell him he knew of Nori. Her bond mate Jun was quite fond of the Koi. "This is delicious." She gently ate another one. It was a little more befitting a princess to eat them slower- she thought.
