I think I wanna do the navy anyways. But one of my friends wanted to do air force and he got rejected for having something behind his eye that will make him legally blind in the future. I think I'm more healthy than that friend, like, a lot more healthy, but still, I have minor scoliosis and uhhm high cholesterol and uhmm..well that's it. surprised
Anyways to the point. I should probably apply to colleges in case I get rejected or change my mind. When am I s'posed to do that? I talked to counselor at school at end of May or something and she couldn't help me 'cos I couldn't say what I wanted to do with my future. Which annoyed me because it's not like you even choose your major your first year and lots of people change it. The only reason I'd want to go to college would be for the social reasons, and if I end up not liking that then I'd feel bad for going to college and spending all that money.

Well, I wanna talk to a recruiter, I've decided. But how many colleges should I apply to just in case? And how much does it cost to apply? O_o I still don't have a job. xD

I still don't get what drives people to join the army/forces.

"Defend your country" bullshit aside.

(That's a vote for college, if it isn't obvious.)

Defend your country stuff doesn't make sense to me, if people were born in Russia they'd join there, if in America they'd join there, idk I don't get it. It gives you crazy respect, a chance to see the world, work/life experience, and discipline, though.

I'ma have to apply to colleges too though in case I change my mind about the navy or get rejected, but I have no idea where to apply to. >.> ATC-CTI school I guess. Don't know where else. >.>

The reason some people join is for a steady job they know they'll have regardless of the economy.

But really I suggest college first, considering that most colleges have a really good ROTC program that can get you used to a military lifestyle and after you graduate with the ROTC experience you can go in as an officer,Only catch to a college ROTC is that unless it's Like Texas A&M it may not support all four branches so looking into colleges before military check out what ROTC the place has, considering if you go to an army ROTC you won't have to much going towards the navy. Also ROTC will help you decide if you really want to join!

hope that helped

I was going to back that up with "Think of all the women in college!", but I guess that won't do much..

I was going to say that too, but I started to think Eva was a girl. sweatdrop

Eva's a guy. A gay guy. >.>
if I do the navy I wouldn't expect to meet guys though. xD Sadly. I could always just drop the soap in the shower room and see what happens though.

I'm pretty sure then you'll have some fun in college. Just go hit up the gay bar in town and have a blast. sweatdrop

Do lots of people dance at bars? Or is that just clubs? This has nothing to do with the other stuff we were talking about but I'm just curious. xD I hate dancing..

Eva, if you are unsure that much, you can look into the reserves. You serve in the military like two weekends a month and you can get aide to go to college. You may want to check that out.

Also, when you apply for most colleges, you don't need to pay. You may have to write and essay or make a video on why you want to go to that school, or what you could bring to that school. All schools have different requirements.

As far as how many schools to apply to, well, what area of work do you think you may want to do for the rest of your life.
Ask yourself, "Where do I see myself 5 years from now?" If you want to wear a suit, then look at business schools, or a technical school focusing on that area. If you want to cook, look at culinary schools. If you want medical, see where the best medical schools are.

Some people look online to get pricing of schools.

Another thing that may help is to sign up on monster or career builders and look at the job listings and write down things that interest you. Then look for schools that can get you there.

Hope this helps.

Eva- remember- do not under any circumstances let anyone know you are gay... you will get a dishonorable discharge from the military.. The don't ask/don't tell rule still applies- if you tell- you pay the consequences.

How about the Coast Guard- a lot safer than the navy/air force/army or marines. And you don't have such a big chance of getting killed!

Navy doens't kill you either. >.>

And idk what the Coast Guard really does but I probably wouldn't wanna do it lol. I haven't seen the movie but in the previews with Ashton Kutcher in that Coast Guard movie, it looked like he had to go into water. Like, a lot. I can swim but I hate getting my head wet for considerable amounts of time that's a no-no haha. =P

Yeah during WWII lots of people died in the navy but since then unless I'm mistaken not many have. The navy is like 500 million times safer than army or marines and stuff like that.
