Harry Turtledove wrote a lot of books on alternate history (e.g. What if the the Confederacy won the American Civil War, What if the Roman Empire never fell, What if Germany won WW1,...etc.), and it got me thinking, how else could the world have been drastically changed if things turned out differently then they did.
SO... How would history have differed if Napoleon had smashed the armies of the British, Prussians, and Austro-Hungarians at the Battle of Waterloo, leaving Wellington dead? Would he have taken over Europe and Great Britain? Would he have taken Russia on his second attempt? If the answer is yes to all previous, where would he have gone next? Would he have won the Campaign?
If Alexander the Great had had an heir, would the empire have held together for all these years?
What if Carthage had beaten Rome? They believed in certain hideous practices like child sacrificing.
ED, do you have any other speculation like these? (Doesn't have to be Military Related. Could be anything like, "What if the ancestors of Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, and other Civil Rights leaders had never been brought to the United States?" )

What if Charlemagne hadn't succeeded in creating the Holy Roman Empire?
As for the speculation on Alexander having an heir . . . I think the same thing would have happened as did with Charlemagne's sons: Alexander's sons would have fought over who got what portion of what was left to them, in the end once more dividing the empire.
