Tauro dreamed of pups.
She dreamed of her siblings and herself as pups. She dreamed of Gerda's pups, the nieces and nephews she'd never seen and must by now be grown. And she dreamed of the pups she wished to have.
She was old. Not ancient, not an elder, but she could be a grand-auntie, if any of those nieces and nephews had mated by now. And wouldn't that be a shame, that they had found love before she did? She had gone through males, of course, quite a few, by this point in her life, but none of them had stuck around.
Tauro was loud, and brash, and a certain kind of male was attracted to that… but it was not that kind of male that wanted to stick around and raise pups. Other wolves did not understand her, how such a commanding creature could have such a soft and familiar heart.
Familiarity. That's all she wanted. Someone to be familiar with. She sighed, watching the setting sun from a rocky outcropping that eclipsed a river. The water, normally smooth, turned violent and choppy at this one point; but it was a small point. Why was the place avoided for one rough spot, when it offered so much calm and beauty?

Soft paws gently skimmed the earth. The male moving them was extremely fast, for a trot was his version of a walk. He knew no such thing as being slow. Lately the meadow he claimed as Jacobi's Meadow, named after him, was boring and hot. He wanted away.
Two sky blue eyes stared aruond the trees, scoping for something. Anything. He was insanely bored, but also feeling the need to talk to somebody. He didn't care if it ws a dump of dung that sprung alive magically.
Actually, what Jacobi really wanted, now that he thought about it, was love. He wanted a mate, a pretty femme. He liked tempers, they didn;t bother him, and he liked to help calm everything down. He wanted to raise a family, but alas, nobody seemed to be single or looking. Maybe a good friend would do.
Surging forward into a jog, he quickly came upon another wolf. It was a femme, with odd, but pretty, marking all over her. He wanted to run up to her and act like a pup again, but this was when his instincts kicked up. "Hello, miss!" He hated when wolves called each other mam, it made the, sound old and it was obnoxious. "I am Jacobi! Who may you be?"

Startled at the voice, Tauro sprang to her feet and spun, facing down the rock toward the strange male. She first noted his dull colors, like dead grass and dry earth, but then noticed his eyes. There was nothing dead about them; they were brilliant and blue and full of laughter, and, feeling surly, Tauro imagined it was directed at her.
"I may be whoever I wish," she said, pacing sedately off the rock to hide her earlier surprise. "You may be Jacobi, if you wish… or you may not." She grinned, showing brilliantly white fangs. She stepped close to him, but she wasn't trying to be intimidating on purpose; though she may be put-out, to her, this reaction was entirely normal. Personal boundaries were things she had never learned. "Who do you think I may be?" Gray ears pricked forward; the question was a test. If he was confused, or angry, he wasn't worth her time. But wit? That was treasured.

To Jacobi's surprise, the femme bounded right up to him. His eyes glanced over her pelt, admiring each individual marking. His eyes looked into hers and he could tell she was looking at his eyes, seeing what his emotions were. Hers were amazing though. They were chocolate, a beautiful color, it made him shiver from just looking.
To his surprise, she met his question with a riddle of sorts. It was funny, this female, how she surprised him so much after only a few quick words. Right now he felt like being Jacobi was fine, as long as he was here. With her. Who was she? How could he describe her? Scrolling through his mind, he scrolled over the list of wolves he had met. He noticed her markings were different, but something about the gray bolt on her face reminded him of something. Who? Beauty! Though Beauty was snappy and exctly the opposite of this female, the had to be related. Who was Beauty's mother? For Beauty was young, very young. Gerda, maybe?
"Who are you? I belive you are one, if not the, prettiest femme's I have ever met. Or, if memory is good, you are the sister of Gerda." He winked mischeviously at her, for memory served well. "Is that enough wit for you," he playfully asked, wagging his tail like a pup again.

"You are a flirt, and a flatterer," she snapped back. Not that she wasn't a flirt. But flattery? That wasn't her style. She was a bit more… blunt.
Her eyes narrowed. "And how do you know of Gerda?" Tauro had not seen her sister for a long time… a very long time. Two years, in fact; since they were both pups. Now she was suspicious. Wherever Gerda had ended up, they had stolen her to get her there; if this Jacobi had been a part of that scheme, Tauo would tear him limb from limb, whatever his excuse.
No, wait, she wouldn't tear him limb from limb. She would ask of her sister's whereabouts first.
Then she would kill him.
"Her sister I may be, but of her, I know nothing," she said. "Riddle me that."

Jacobi's ears twisted back a bit, eyeing her reaction. He wasn't frightened, not mad, just interested. What of Gerda did she dislike? "I know nothing of your sister, other than your lineage. All I know is of her daughter, Beauty." He shivered at her name and a smile came upon his face, she was so into herself. "Flirt, eh?"
Prancing in a circle around the femme, his legs moved high. "I may not be able to give you a riddle now, but if I learned you name I might?" His legs slowed back at his original spot, he couldn't stand to just be still. He had to move eventually. "You do have a name, correct? Otherwise I will name you myself," he teased.
She was thinking of hurting, no, killing him, that he could tell. The way her eyes flickered made him know something had irritated her. "I'm sorry if that was wrong to say," he said quietly. He still didn't show sumbission or any sign of being scared, just open friendliness. He was dying to know this femme, even if nothing of her heritage.

Tauro lifted her head. "My name is Tauro, whether I wish it or not," she answered. "Whatever you name me won't change that." She stood with stiff legs, her hackles just barely up. "You know more than I, for I knew only rumors that my sister had a fa… had pups." The anger left her eyes, replaced only by stiff pride. She watched him prance, but refused to circle so she could watch him on his circumnavigation, adding show-off to flatterer and flirt in her mind's list of adjectives.
"My family has been apart for many years," she said in a softer voice. "I wish to reunite them." She hid nothing, and found no reason to do so. Her private affairs weren't anything of the kind; there was little in her life she regretted, and even less of which she was ashamed. A lack of family was one.
