[PRP] Frosted Flowers (Mes & Faye)

Nice cool water. Just the thing on a hot day like this. Meskhenet could almost wonder why the ice crystals at her back weren't melting with the sun bearing down, but then tossed the idea aside. Of course they didn't melt, if they did then she would as well. The ice yunin sits back at the edge of a small pond after getting a nice refreshing drink and idly looks down at her rippling reflection for a time.

It was a slightly novel idea to wonder at why she had a horn an set of hooves instead of furry paws as she'd seen on countless, hornless others about. But then again, she could have been given those awkward curved horns she'd seen on a few others and have to wonder about how to keep her fur beneath the curve clean. no, even though she hadn't really seen another yunin she wouldn't start complaining about her horn and hooves. Again shaking her mind free of this cycle of musing, ears flick around to hear the birds not too far away, and looks around to take in the peaceful, albeit solitary scenery. Surely in such heat a water source like this wouldn't be this deserted.

Now this was just driving him mad: the sun! The blistering heat was making his nice, smooth pelt all gross and sticky and even his long hair was starting to get matted. Faye took a quick glance around, remembering vaguely there was a waterhole nearby or somewhere beyond in a certain direction or somewhere. If he were better with directions, he wouldn't have this problem: wandering about until he looked like a walking zombie. Of course, Faye really didn't look that terrible, he only felt it and just happened to be a little overdramatic about everything.

Then, as though the gods had answered his distress, there was that pond just as he remembered… and now they hate him. Besides the pond was the fore-most object of his irritation, in most cases, a female. His dark eyes watched the elegant figure with a slight envy in his eyes. Why must females have such a dainty appearance and him, Faye, have such bulky limbs and muscles. He gave a pitiful sigh, not thinking that it would practically announce his presence to the other ulaya. He paused then froze. Was she starting to turn to look this way?! Would she approach?!

Oh, a sound? Flicking her ears in that direction first, Meskhenet turns to look towards the source. Just a male, but wait there's a horn on his head. One, not two curved horns, one, sort of like her own but curved a bit? Now this was very unexpected.

Sparing another glance at the water,she figures he was heading this way for a drink before he stopped. Well then if he wasn't going to move again.. "Hello?"

And she did turn! Faye was quiet as though his stillness would cause him to disappear into the background. However, he slowly realized he was a purple ulaya amongst green and brown (and the occasional blue glimpse of the sky) and camouflage wasn't really a strength of his. There was no turning back now; he must maintain he cool. Finally breaking out of his frozen state, Faye strolled up to the female with a cool facial. His envy and unease towards her was hidden well behind that soft smile.

"Good day, miss," The scaled ulaya greeted gently as a gentlemen would in this case. However, he made sure to maintain a good distance between them as he approached the water. The thought of touching her was just distressing to him. Only the hard muscles of a male could ease his trouble heart.

Watching the male walking towards the water, Mes had the chance to take a few more things in. Yes, his horn resembled hers, but his tail was very different, long, and he had scales over most of his form instead of fur. And most noticeably.. "You are not transparent?" And here she was hoping someone besides herself and her twin could be like them, not of ice, but something else like it.

The female was staring at him and it was starting to unnerve Faye to the point he nearly turned his heels and bolted. However, he was stopped by a very particular question and just confused him to no end. Transparent? He looked at himself and was relieved to know that his beautiful hair, scales, and tail was still perfectly intact. What was this female trying to do?

Suddenly, Faye then realize that Mes was actually somewhat strange. He shifted her head to look in back of her then turned his attention back to her body and eased closer in curiosity. "Why are you... transparent?"

Mes watches him silently, keeping her calm only slightly against the curiosity at this male's.. solidity. Her ears p***k forward at him wen he starts staring back. Surely he'd seen someone transparent before? Ah, but then that thought shattered when he asked such an obvious question.

"I am transparent. I am ice. Ice is transparent." Nodding just slightly, her tail flicks a bit. "You are not transparent, but shine like ice, how?"

Faye, realizing how close he was getting, suddenly moved back a good stride before shaking himself off to make it seem like he didn't want to get her dirty or within his shake. He turned his attention towards her before finally registering what the female had said. What on the lands was she talking about? Never before has he seen transparency on a ulaya. Then saying something about how he shines. He looked down at himself again and instantly notice that his scales were catching a good amount of light.

"Must be my scales," he decided out loud, quite satisfied with his own answer. He turned his head and kept a watch out of the corner of his eye. "Never seen someone that's ice." Again, the irritation towards the female gender settled in his mind. It was just no pressing down that envy and longing to be as slender and beautiful. Faye gave a light sigh.

"Scales." Oh yes, that's right he had scales.. a strange pairing with the horn. "How do you have scales, and keep them shining like ice?" Her short tail flicks again as she watches him.

"I've never seen anyone but ice shine like your scales do. Your horn shines too, but different." Honest curiosity drips from her words and she tilts her head sideways just slightly to see the light catch his scales from a it of a different angle.

"It would be a waste not to," Faye replied, easing into his pride at her curiosity towards his particular appearance. Ki'rins are, in his eyes, much more beautiful than the average ulaya and he felt fortunate to be born as one himself; therefore, it would only be natural for him to want to preen himself to look his best in order not to shame their breed.

However, his pride could not wash away the discomfort he felt a her careful scrutiny. He never liked judging female eyes on him and his tail twitched nervously as proof of that. He decided to appear more casual and gave her a very short glance before looking away again. "Are those wings?" he noticed the strange ice lurking behind her back during his split-second gaze.

Sparing a glance at the ice crystals at her back for a moment, her stubby tail flicks again. "If they're wings, they don't work. They just sit there but don't melt." her eyes turn back to him again in time to see his own tail move.

"Your tail is long, and you have paws instead of hooves in front? Does walking feel different to feel the ground with your front paws and wind i your tail?"

"Odd," He replied thoughtfully before shrugging. He was quite satisfied with his own beauty to give much care about other strange qualities of other ulayas (that would exclude females). The female was awefully curious, Faye decided after her series of question. However, he felt more at ease talking about things he didn't really have think about. Since he didn't face her, it was also easier to ignore her actual gender different and produce a decent conversation. Even though, he still had an uncontrollable urge to run. Perhaps across the lake would be his best escape. She wouldn't expect that. "Never did have anything else to compare it to although the wind in my tail is always enjoyable. "

Mes merely shrugs in turn at the 'odd' comment, she supposed having ice crystals at her back was a bit unnatural. "Feeling ground with front paws must be nice though. Hooves don't feel. And they get hard to clean if you have to walk through mud." Stubby tail twitching again she looks away from him to stop staring and watches the water. "Long tails look nice, do leaves get caught in it easier though?"

"Leaves? Not for me, at least," Faye supposed this was what they called a nice conversation between strangers minus the thick tension in Faye's body. However, it eased slightly when Mes looked away. He gave her a short look. She seemed to be distracted from looking at the water. Giving his luck a cheer, he started inching away from her. She seemed terribly curious and it would only be time until she gets curious enough to look at him closer or worse, touch him. He shuttered in fear.

The reprieve is short lived though, as Mes looks back at him again and notices the shudder. "Are you cold? You shook a little." A short pause to think and she nods slightly. "It's because I'm ice?" Absently watching him she stands from her spot and moves a few paces away along the bank of the lake.
